[OPEN] Mission 156
Characters: Open to participants who signed up here.
Location: Lake Tahoe, CA
Rating: Various.
Time: March 27th, late morning.
Description: The second of the three Madness emitters outside Death City is the target for this mission. Bundle up, everyone -- it's gonna be a cold one.
The mission begins late in the morning, to allow the mission-goers as much sunlight as possible in the warmest part of the day. Not that it'll help much… Temperatures are well below freezing already -- unnatural even for early Spring in the mountains -- and a howling snowstorm threatens to blot out the sun, beginning up the mountain where the slope just begins to rise sharply.
The slopes themselves are fairly barren: a windswept-looking tree here, a cabin that may have once belonged to the snow patrol there, maybe a Madness-crazed bear or mountain lion. Those braving the storm are lucky enough to see five feet in front of their face in these conditions!
Those brave few who manage to make it to the top (enduring falling temperatures and defeating the corrupted fauna and hulking kishin yeti along the way) may come across their goal at the very summit of the half-mile-high mountain: the Madness emitter itself, in the eye of the storm… And one last obstacle: the Witch guarding it.

The one that is third-closest, yes? That, it goes in the right direction according to the map, yes. And that, while not a pleasant walk, will be a good one. A fitting one.
[One that had a clear end, and meant they wouldn't be entirely exhausted by the time they came across any foes. Londo, for once, decided to be proactive and he started walking toward the indicated lift.]
You would think Shibusen would send us at a time when it is not blizzarding, no? Unless perhaps they do not particularly like us. But I do not blame them too much. Sometimes even I do not particularly like us.
no subject
If they do not like us, the feeling is mutual. [she didn't like them either. At all.] Why would you not like yourself?

[Londo shrugged, getting on the chair after taking her hand just in case. The seat was soon moving through the air, headed to their destination.]
I have never had many friends, no. This, it is for good reason. I do not make a good friend. And for that reason as well I do not particularly like me, no. But it is good, the distance. If few are close to you, there are few you can hurt, yes? Or who can hurt you.

I suppose I can agree with the last part, though. By trusting no one, you will be able to survive. [The gargoyle didn't sit. She stood still on top of the lift, watching their surroundings, always ready for any sudden attack]

[Londo wasn't nearly as watchful as her, though he was looking at what he could see of the landscape. It was more observing, though.]
Look, down there, my good friend. It is another team, yes? And they are struggling to walk up. Let us wave.
[He did so cheerfully even though he was fairly sure the Meister and Weapon weren't looking up.]
And now our destination comes into view, and so our rest, it is over. But I am quite glad I am not them, yes.

[For a moment, she nearly said "let them freeze and rot", but the gargoyle held back her tongue. She waited a little longer until she felt the familiar feeling scratching the back of her mind, inciting her and that soon would poison her; madness. She is much prone to it than others, she realizes.
That is as far as they will go. Demona extended her hand to Londo, asking for his] This will be our exit.
