[OPEN] Mission 155
Characters: Open to those who signed up here.
Location: An unmarked cavern system outside Death City.
Rating: Various.
Time: March 18th, sunrise.
Description: Shibusen agents brave underwater caverns to take out the first of three Madness emitters.
Missiongoers pile out of the mirrors early in the morning, just as the first hints of sun start to color the walls of the sandstone canyon red and purple; it'll be the last bits of real light they'll see for at least a few hours. The atmosphere is electric -- there're quite a few new (and old) arrivals who're eager to see some action, but just as many people who're feeling rather more apprehensive… And for good reason.
The only way to their destination is blocked by a few hundred yards of sunken tunnels. Luckily they've been provided with mouthpieces, breathing apparatuses with enough oxygen to last about ten minutes: more than enough time, provided that the guests don't lose their way in the dimly-lit, twisted caverns. It's as easy as following the person in front of them, right?
Upon emerging safely from the pool onto mostly-dry land, they'll find themselves in an immense cavern, illuminated by countless, blue fungi clinging to the walls and ceiling, looking like stars dotting a night sky. Already the first signs of the way Madness has been corrupting the wildlife are evident: the mushrooms exude strange spores that make some people's head pound the same way the increasingly noticeable Madness wavelength does.
As they travel further into the watery caves and explore its many branches, they'll begin to encounter creatures twisted by Madness: moles, snakes, beetles, centipedes, all grown to monstrous proportions, some with a venomous bite that quickly turns their victim feverish and delirious. The more daring fighters can easily dispatch those and delve even deeper, and it's near the source of the Madness, in the chamber housing the emitter itself, that they'll encounter the kishin eggs.
There're dozens of them-- eyeless, white, vaguely human-shaped things, but despite their blindness they have no problem finding their quarry, fighting with claws and exuding their own Madness wavelength. If the missiongoers can stand strong against the kishin eggs and the ever-present wavelength given off by the Madness emitter, Shibusen's specialists will have enough time to shut the machine down for good.
OOC NOTES.

"Coy? You say? I be not the 'coy' one," Cybele said in return before her smile turned positively deadly. "I could wipe every last thing out within this cave with my eyes closed. Do not think that you have any place to order me to do anything."
no subject
"I have ordered you to do nothing," he rumbled. Zeratul wouldn't take back what he said, even if the words had been a little too challenging. "If you fight on our side, then standing in my way and taunting me is counterproductive."
no subject
"Perhaps for you it be, but I find it invigorating," the Witch taunted, feeling much like her old self now that the disappointment of no witches being here was beginning to fade. Tilting her head to one side, her smirk never once wavered. "Make me move, if you want to get by me."
no subject
"Do you fight with us or not?" He demanded, his tone assuming a bit more finality than it had before. "You waste our time with this nonsense!"
no subject
"It's not nonsense," Cybele said, grin on her face as she pointedly ignored his demanded question. She still didn't move, even when hearing the finality within this creature's tone. What was she supposed to be, intimidated by it? Bah!
no subject
"Then whatever you wish to call it, I have simply had enough," he growled, and started forward to walk past her.

He had declined a simple weapon to take with him, and he almost regretted it now. The thing didn't appear to be a Kishin, however, and his claws would serve him just fine. It was a matter of being able to attack at the right moment, though, and the mole had the advantage at that moment. He dodged its attacks, waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike back.
no subject
So as the mole went to try and make a meal out of Zeratul, the Witch chanted softly beneath her breath moments before a horde of vines whipped up from beneath and around the madness crazed creature and began ensnaring it within its tight embrace.
At that same time, two lions appeared by her side, roaring ferociously, before starting at a run in towards the trapped mole. While it would have been easier to simply use her flame, the Witch knew that doing so ran the risk of injuring that alien fool up ahead.
no subject
Not one to be idle, Zeratul darted forward and grabbed one of the vines, looping around the mole's jaw to keep it closed. He held fast, even as the thing thrashed and when the lions appeared. Now would be a good time for her to strike at them both, but he had a feeling she wouldn't. She liked to play more than that, he thought.
no subject
Cybele didn't attack the tall Meister though, and simply remained where she was as she allowed for her pets and that alien to finish off the target. With the combined efforts, it wouldn't take long
no subject
The monster's thrashing eventually succumbed to the pain and injury inflicted on it the lions, and Zerataul let the vine go lax. He didn't drop it, just in case, but the familiar's had done their work well.
no subject
"You fight well," Cybele said while raising a hand up to run through the thick mane of the first lion. Smirking, her gaze remained trained on Zeratul. "For a big fell'a."
no subject
He relaxed only a fraction when they turned, and his attention focused back on Cybele. "You are neither Meister nor Weapon."
It wasn't a question.
no subject
"Heh, you might be havin' some smarts there," Cybele murmured with a smirk while her fingers threaded through the thick mane. "I can wield Weapons and fight as a Meister does, but I am not one."
no subject
"A Witch, then?" He had to be certain.
no subject
She gave a mocking bow in reply to his question, and regarded him much like a cat would a mouse. "In the flesh."
no subject
"I do not understand," he said, shaking his head slowly. She could make all the cracks she wanted about his ignorance - it meant nothing to him. How could he know, anyways? "You fight against the creations of your kind."
no subject
What sort of boring race was that?
no subject
If humans and their relatives even had rules that could be followed. In all his research, he didn't think he'd read about Witches defecting. They always stood on their side, and no one else's. So, what was Cybele playing at, if she was fighting for Shibusen?
no subject
"My rules say that I can fight against whoever I want," Cybele said with a grin before he gave Zeratul a flirtatious wink. "And I says that I wanna fight the other witches."
no subject
Zeratul gave her a calculating, though not threatening, look. At the very least she'd stated it explicitly, so he need only truly worry only if she were lying. "That is your choice, and I will not dispute it, even if I do not understand it."
no subject
"You do not need to understand it," she said with that same smile on her lips. "We all be havin' our reasons."
no subject
'We' was unfortunate, but by now he didn't expect to be able to walk right by her. Minding the lions, he started forward, fully prepared for her to stop him for some reason or another.
no subject
It would have been so easy to stop his movements, but she did nothing of the sorts. Instead she wordlessly turned to follow after him while her tail swished happily behind her.
