[OPEN] Mission 155

Characters: Open to those who signed up here.
Location: An unmarked cavern system outside Death City.
Rating: Various.
Time: March 18th, sunrise.
Description: Shibusen agents brave underwater caverns to take out the first of three Madness emitters.

Missiongoers pile out of the mirrors early in the morning, just as the first hints of sun start to color the walls of the sandstone canyon red and purple; it'll be the last bits of real light they'll see for at least a few hours. The atmosphere is electric -- there're quite a few new (and old) arrivals who're eager to see some action, but just as many people who're feeling rather more apprehensive… And for good reason.

The only way to their destination is blocked by a few hundred yards of sunken tunnels. Luckily they've been provided with mouthpieces, breathing apparatuses with enough oxygen to last about ten minutes: more than enough time, provided that the guests don't lose their way in the dimly-lit, twisted caverns. It's as easy as following the person in front of them, right?

Upon emerging safely from the pool onto mostly-dry land, they'll find themselves in an immense cavern, illuminated by countless, blue fungi clinging to the walls and ceiling, looking like stars dotting a night sky. Already the first signs of the way Madness has been corrupting the wildlife are evident: the mushrooms exude strange spores that make some people's head pound the same way the increasingly noticeable Madness wavelength does.

As they travel further into the watery caves and explore its many branches, they'll begin to encounter creatures twisted by Madness: moles, snakes, beetles, centipedes, all grown to monstrous proportions, some with a venomous bite that quickly turns their victim feverish and delirious. The more daring fighters can easily dispatch those and delve even deeper, and it's near the source of the Madness, in the chamber housing the emitter itself, that they'll encounter the kishin eggs.

There're dozens of them-- eyeless, white, vaguely human-shaped things, but despite their blindness they have no problem finding their quarry, fighting with claws and exuding their own Madness wavelength. If the missiongoers can stand strong against the kishin eggs and the ever-present wavelength given off by the Madness emitter, Shibusen's specialists will have enough time to shut the machine down for good.

Electricity and water (in this case, saliva) work so well together. And stunning was just about enough for Demona.

As she heard Londo, the gargoyle smirked wide "I need no blade!" she had her claws; the female jumped on the enemy and she did claw it; its face, its eyes, like a furious animal, and aiding all of that violence, she also used her Weapon, hitting the top of the mole's head to make it go unconscious.

It was hard at first, since the mutated animal was disorientated and was clawing at anything randomly, but it also helped because it ended up hitting itself time to time in the process. And Demona's and Londo's blows eventually worked.

Claws. Right. Londo watched as she tore into the mole, rather glad that he wasn't on the receiving end of that. Again he was left wondering why humans had survived in his world as well. They were so boring, compared to gargoyles. But there was nothing for it.

The mole died, squealing and flailing. It was no Kishin, just a creature, so at least there was nothing Londo had to eat at this point in time. "And so. Deeper, yes? And to hope we do not run into a witch. We will not do well there, no."

There were noises of fighting coming from up ahead, and as much as Londo's cowardly side said maybe they should be slow in getting there, he also realized that to have a greater chance of getting out alive they needed to back their allies up.

"We will avoid witches." Demona had no desire to fight one, not only because she would lose, but because they could become her allies eventually. She couldn't go around fighting her possible future allies.

The female gargoyle nodded "Let's go." though Londo had a coward side, he was at least, willing to keep going. Demona was cocky enough to believe this was because of her; she is an amazing warrior after all.

"Though we shouldn't find a witch, a kishin would be interesting." to harvest a soul.

"For a given definition of interesting, no? The fight-for-our-lives type, while we hope that it does not have a lot of friends hiding in the dark? Myself, I prefer my interesting in more private quarters, yes." Gentlemen's clubs. Bedrooms. That sort of thing.

He was amused by the 'let's go,' though. "After you, yes? For you are holding me."

There was light in the cave up ahead, and the sounds of conflict changed. He wasn't sure what that meant, though. He wasn't one to be out on the field like that.

Demona's eyes set on the cave, her wings spread; she knew what those sounds meant. And she knew she had to be ready the moment they went inside that cave; eyes glowing red, a loud hiss coming from her throat, when she was few meters way, she charged viciously in hopes to catch an enemy out of guard.

Which she did; the female barely saw what it was, but she struck it with Londo in what appear to be its head.

It was no regular animal, from what Londo saw. His bet was on Kishin. He focused again, zapping out at its head and getting a good glance at it. Sure enough, it looks on the human side, vaguely, and that's supposed to mean Kishin. Thankfully it doesn't mean Witch; those are supposed to look completely human from the bit that he knows.

The Kishin howled in rage as it was struck and zapped, but it didn't attack. Or, it didn't attack physically. Londo could feel the edge of craziness starting to edge in. "The resonance. It is attacking like that." He had very few defenses against the madness, knowing that it most often intensified his fear of things. At least he couldn't run in weapon form, but that could make things more dangerous for the both of them.
