[OPEN] Mission 155
Characters: Open to those who signed up here.
Location: An unmarked cavern system outside Death City.
Rating: Various.
Time: March 18th, sunrise.
Description: Shibusen agents brave underwater caverns to take out the first of three Madness emitters.
Missiongoers pile out of the mirrors early in the morning, just as the first hints of sun start to color the walls of the sandstone canyon red and purple; it'll be the last bits of real light they'll see for at least a few hours. The atmosphere is electric -- there're quite a few new (and old) arrivals who're eager to see some action, but just as many people who're feeling rather more apprehensive… And for good reason.
The only way to their destination is blocked by a few hundred yards of sunken tunnels. Luckily they've been provided with mouthpieces, breathing apparatuses with enough oxygen to last about ten minutes: more than enough time, provided that the guests don't lose their way in the dimly-lit, twisted caverns. It's as easy as following the person in front of them, right?
Upon emerging safely from the pool onto mostly-dry land, they'll find themselves in an immense cavern, illuminated by countless, blue fungi clinging to the walls and ceiling, looking like stars dotting a night sky. Already the first signs of the way Madness has been corrupting the wildlife are evident: the mushrooms exude strange spores that make some people's head pound the same way the increasingly noticeable Madness wavelength does.
As they travel further into the watery caves and explore its many branches, they'll begin to encounter creatures twisted by Madness: moles, snakes, beetles, centipedes, all grown to monstrous proportions, some with a venomous bite that quickly turns their victim feverish and delirious. The more daring fighters can easily dispatch those and delve even deeper, and it's near the source of the Madness, in the chamber housing the emitter itself, that they'll encounter the kishin eggs.
There're dozens of them-- eyeless, white, vaguely human-shaped things, but despite their blindness they have no problem finding their quarry, fighting with claws and exuding their own Madness wavelength. If the missiongoers can stand strong against the kishin eggs and the ever-present wavelength given off by the Madness emitter, Shibusen's specialists will have enough time to shut the machine down for good.
OOC NOTES.

'That's why you modern day people are far better victims than fighters! Zero survival skills!' To make a point, he aimed the gun and shot the monster once more. "And you take your dirty paws out of here!!"

'So then what?! Are you suggesting I use you?!'

'If you could, it'd keep us both from being killed,' he returned. But it wasn't as if the Voice actually did anything to help that wasn't backstabbing or just trickery... he wouldn't be surprised if the reason that the Voice had been so vehement about not working with him was that he couldn't. The resonance had broken quickly both times, after all...

Then he snipped it outward the opening, having it bounce right off the kishin egg's head.

However, the tumbling motion was enough as Bakura concentrated, pushing up on the 0 to make it land face up.
If the Ring wasn't going to do what was needed....
There was a seconds pause before the die zipped back to his double's hand, starting to glow brightly as Bakura poured all his frustration and anger into it. 'AIM!' he shouted.

"Your turn." Despite the short notice he was working on his voice sounded as if it was just another particular cruel move that he had been working on all along.

It was rare for Bakura's attack to take a Kishin out in one hit... maybe this one was lower level than the others he had faced with Leo and Vash... or maybe he was just that mad that it was working far better than before. It surely wasn't the support of the Voice, since there was no way he had that, right?

Tossing the die into the air, he caught it with his free hand. "Who would have thought? Looks like you've got some real fight in you after all." He smirked, turning towards the other monster.
... accidental Duelist Kingdom parallels here, I just realized. (lol)
Or was it just that it was only when dealing with the Ring that he could forget everything else because all that mattered was that fight?
'Just roll.' Two in rapid succession would tire him, but he was used to it, and there was an undeniable high he was feeling from the first attack. The background buzz of the Madness around him for once wasn't making him curl in on himself, but instead lash outwards. If he would have realized that the combination of that and the close resonation with his doppelganger was bringing him closer to acting like him, he would have violently rejected that connection, but as it was, all he was thinking was the focus on taking out those Kishin and getting out of that hole.
at least the kishin eggs are less obnoxious xD
Deciding to go along for now with his host's demand, he let the die land on the floor in an all too casual manner that had the remaining kishin egg stop and stare at him suspiciously from unseeing eyes.
"Nothing like fire to fight fire, right?"
And don't speak in rhyme :D
Seconds later the die was back in the darker Bakura's hand, glowing brightly, Bakura blocking out anything that his double was implying to focus on the attack, reaching behind him to pull on the other's energy to feed his own.
The attack was almost blinding and left Bakura feeling almost light headed. It was too much too quickly, but the feeling of something burning inside him when he channeled that attack had felt perversely good in a way he would never acknowledge.
I can't decide whether rhyming kishin eggs would be awesome or horrible~
As much as he had given, it felt refreshing to him. Low Life Points, high damage output. He liked that.
Giving the die that had gotten notable quite after its second attack a short glance, he brushed against his double's mind just long enough to make sure that he was still alive and sound. Finding nothing but exhaustion, he shoved the D10 into one of his pants pockets and strode over to catch one of the corrupted souls that were all that was left of the kishin eggs.
...I'm picturing Kishin Maze Brothers and it's HORRIFYING (lol)
...and at being suddenly in pocket and his senses dimmed from the barriers in contact, it was a bit of effort to keep from falling asleep. Instead he focused on keeping what connection was there open to see through his doppelganger's eyes. There was a touch of wariness as they reached the souls. Could he seal one inside him while this tired...?
...or would having that energy inside him help him recover faster...?

Smirking to himself, he couldn't resist the urge to chuckle darkly. Letting the sound roll from the back of his throat and wash past the dark tunnel's walls, the spirit all but reared in loud laughter over the pleasure of having won the fight and having done so in the most bloody, most ultimate manner.
Then he raised the soul to his mouth and opened it wide, sharp teeth ready to tear it to bits and leave nothing behind as he meant to consume it entirely. 'Itadakimasu!' While he didn't say anything out loud the sadistic cheer echoed through their resonance.
and just bop me if they actually can/would so I can fix that :D
'What the hell are you doing?!'
Could Meisters even eat souls?! They couldn't could they?
Without even thinking he reached out to try and stop his double's hand.
np, I think they can but all it gives them are stomachaches xD
Taking it's power, if that isn't obvious!'
Phht :)

There was another reason why he wanted to try: his soul had possessed a similar ability back then, so he wanted to try it at least once here, too. There was no way in freezing hell that he'd let all the power ups go to some random Weapon he picked up for the row!
