[OPEN] Mission 155

Characters: Open to those who signed up here.
Location: An unmarked cavern system outside Death City.
Rating: Various.
Time: March 18th, sunrise.
Description: Shibusen agents brave underwater caverns to take out the first of three Madness emitters.

Missiongoers pile out of the mirrors early in the morning, just as the first hints of sun start to color the walls of the sandstone canyon red and purple; it'll be the last bits of real light they'll see for at least a few hours. The atmosphere is electric -- there're quite a few new (and old) arrivals who're eager to see some action, but just as many people who're feeling rather more apprehensive… And for good reason.

The only way to their destination is blocked by a few hundred yards of sunken tunnels. Luckily they've been provided with mouthpieces, breathing apparatuses with enough oxygen to last about ten minutes: more than enough time, provided that the guests don't lose their way in the dimly-lit, twisted caverns. It's as easy as following the person in front of them, right?

Upon emerging safely from the pool onto mostly-dry land, they'll find themselves in an immense cavern, illuminated by countless, blue fungi clinging to the walls and ceiling, looking like stars dotting a night sky. Already the first signs of the way Madness has been corrupting the wildlife are evident: the mushrooms exude strange spores that make some people's head pound the same way the increasingly noticeable Madness wavelength does.

As they travel further into the watery caves and explore its many branches, they'll begin to encounter creatures twisted by Madness: moles, snakes, beetles, centipedes, all grown to monstrous proportions, some with a venomous bite that quickly turns their victim feverish and delirious. The more daring fighters can easily dispatch those and delve even deeper, and it's near the source of the Madness, in the chamber housing the emitter itself, that they'll encounter the kishin eggs.

There're dozens of them-- eyeless, white, vaguely human-shaped things, but despite their blindness they have no problem finding their quarry, fighting with claws and exuding their own Madness wavelength. If the missiongoers can stand strong against the kishin eggs and the ever-present wavelength given off by the Madness emitter, Shibusen's specialists will have enough time to shut the machine down for good.

[Teresa/Shibuya Yuuri | Emitter Chamber | Closed]

[The blood of the Madness-crazed animals dripped from Yuuri's bladed form by the time they'd entered the large chamber. Because of that, both his and Teresa's form glowed softly from the power his weapon form was absorbing from the energies within the blood.

There were dozens of Kishin Eggs littered throughout the large chamber area, and Yuuri couldn't help but stare wide-eyed as his ghost-like face caught sight of their coming battle.]

OOoowaaah... that's a lot of them...

[Glowing had always been a strange side-effect of wielding Yuuri, but she had grown used to the attention that it brought her. She never particularly liked much subtlety anyway, and the few cuts that she had on her legs were healing up nicely because of his abilities.

The madness was thick, and she felt it tugging at her mind. She was better than them, better than all of them. She was Rank 1, and she was undefeatable. Her strength was her boon, and not even these crazy Kishin Eggs would stand in her way. Tearing them apart would be a pleasure and save the lives of others.

She smiled in complete confidence.]
Their resistance is futile. [She began to advance on the masses.]

[It always amazed him how confident she was, but that was one of the many things he liked about Teresa. With her, he felt as though they could take on anything, and he wanted to keep her undefeated as best as he could.]

We'll stop as many of them here as we can so that we can protect the others.

[His ghost-like face was set with determination. They'd keep fighting until every last one of them had been taken down!]

Here they come!

[She waited for a group to get into range before she bothered to pick up her own pace. She pushed off quickly, narrowly avoiding claws and cutting up into the creature's swinging arm before driving forward for the unprotected body. It dropped with a gurgle before she was engaging the next Kishin Egg, a smile on her face the entire time.]

We'll fight here. Let someone else deal with that emitter.

[No matter how many times he fought with her, or the strength and skill he knew she had, his heart always froze and skipped beat in concern. He couldn't help it, but Yuuri didn't let it get in the way of their fighting.]

That sounds good!

[If left to them, he knew that the only thing he could do was bang it to death.]

[While she never needed the confidence of others, Yuuri's awed confidence was a nice sensation. It drew her out of how the madness picked at her mind, and her smile turned less cold as she cut through flesh and bone of Kishin Egg ranks. She had never relied on another in battle, but she never regretted taking up with Yuuri in battle.]

A wall to my left arm, Yuuri.

[He was always aware of battle, so she almost never had to request aspects of his abilities. It was nice to do it sometimes.]

[personal profile] a_royal_flush 2012-08-28 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
[Yuuri had been distracted as he felt the subtle changes within his Meister. It had always been nice to feel, and the young Maou much preferred a the more honest smile - much like the one that she was giving now. Wait, wall?]

Huh? Oh right!

[It took him a moment before his eyes widened in realisation, and Yuuri was instantly flailing to summon up a wall to protect Teresa's left side.]

[personal profile] of_the_faint_smile 2012-08-30 03:22 pm (UTC)(link)
[She allowed a small chuckle to leave her as his distraction became obvious, and she knocked aside swinging claws with ease as the wall went up to her left to deflect another attack. She kept close to it as she dealt with the two Kishin Eggs in front of her, removing limbs first and then dealing with the main body.]

Now what shall we do when this battle is over? You did promise to show me that 'ice cream' meal, didn't you?

[He had been rather determined to introducing her to many things, expanding on her information. Already, she was getting to be an accomplished nurse and apparently her smile was good bed-side manner.]

[personal profile] a_royal_flush 2012-08-30 03:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Once the battle was over? [There was a blink as she removed the limbs of yet another Kishin Egg before realisation hit.] Oh! Yes! I'd like to show you that.

Aaa there are so many different flavours! Which flavour do you like the most?
