Description: The time has come for Lau's game night! All are welcome for a round or two (or more) of mahjong, cards, or just to have a drink and some food. Don't forget to bring a dish to share- And some alcohol, if you plan to drink yourself.

Lau's apartment at the Casualty Communal had been rearranged to accommodate his guests for the evening. The couch and chairs had been pushed so their backs were to the window, the coffee table set with several packs of cards and a box of poker chips. The TV and desk had been pushed into the corner to allow space for two square folding tables and four chairs for each, one set with a jumble of mahjong tiles and the other awaiting its game- And even with the additional furniture, he'd left enough space for people to sit at the counter as if it were a bar, facing the space he had left open for food and drinks from his guests. He had set out dumplings, as promised, a kettle on the stove for tea, and a few bottles of juice and various alcohols- vodka, table wine, brandy.

As eight o' clock approached, Lau finally stood back to appreciate his work, smiling as he paced between the tables to make sure there would be enough space for his guests to move around. Everything was just the way he liked, and so he moved to prop open the door, humming a soft tune before pouring himself a drink.

Tonight was going to be fascinating, especially with the medley of people he'd met on his post regarding the event. Nothing could really compare to a night of gambling and the company of others- Especially in the event that said company could be of use to him in this city.

[oh god oh god that is a smudge on the four tile that is definitely a fucking smudge on it. but he can't reach it because there's a fucking circle tile thing in the way and he's only on two numerically but it's smudged and -

he knows he could, but. but. THAT M. AND THE WEEESSSSSSST. and when he did look at the other possible matches they were just so. random. a season, a weather, different style of number—why were they different!?—and now it's even worse.

upon closer inspection he realized that his tiles were now in slight lopsided arrangement. he had tried to take a pair on each side so that it would stay somewhat even, but. now he could not.

...yeah he's gonna break down.]

I can't—these mahjong tiles—I can't match them properly!!

[Monk's own hand is wavering over his pile, unable to process all the minute chaos occurring in it. what did he do? he couldn't fix anything without breaking his system.

he replies to Kid, voice choked a little]

New rules. We need to make a new rule about this, right now.

I didn't notice since it was at the bottom, but...

[he holds it up. LOOK HOW HORRIBLE THE PAINT JOB IS. THE COLOR IS FADED AND UNEVENLY APPLIED.]

I don't know! And I'm sure there are other tiles just like it...

We need to get them all together and fix them before this goes any further. People can't play like this.

You are absolutely correct. Let's gather all the bad tiles and then take them with us to an art store. I'd feel more comfortable if I had them with me so I can choose the right color.

We should take some of the acceptable ones too, so we don't buy paint that doesn't match.

We'll likely have to make sure they're all in the same set. There are several different ones so the paint might not be exactly the same...

And check the dates on them if we can. Paint wears at different rates, after all.

Hm. I should probably also research so that the right brand and type of paint is also used.

No problem, I only know because I've had to have walls repainted a few times. Hopefully the brand isn't out of production now.
