EVENT LOG - BATTLE

Time: 20th of Feb, before the tsunami
Description: Shibusen agents head out to stop an all-out Kishin Egg attack on the citizens of Norway.

[The country had been bombarded with an influx of Kishin Eggs over the last few weeks, but Shibusen agents have been deployed to help defend Norway! These aren’t your regular Kishin Eggs though. These eggs have been feeding on the helpless human souls throughout the country, and have grown in strength and power! Be careful when going up against these foes or they might just get the better of you!

Those heading through to Norway will find there's a chill on the air. The air is so cold that it felt as though it would cut right through to your bones! So wrap yourselves up warmly.]

Toph hated Norway. It was cold and...cold. She was barefoot, did she really need a reason other than 'cold' to hate this place? Honestly. She'd bundled up, naturally, but they hadn't invented a way to keep barefooted blind girls from being, well, blind when they put shoes on.

"This sucks," she muttered as she clung to Tem's back. It was faster to ride him while he walked or flew around, looking for an egg.

He on the other hand was not going to complain despite the apparent cold. They were aloft, hunting for the Kishin eggs that were wrecking havoc for this country. After being briefed, he knew that they should hunt down as many as they could.

They'd done the same to the humans here, it only seemed fair to retaliate in kind.

"I know it does, but we must bear with it, at least until we finish our--"

He cut it short, and with good reason as well: he'd sighted something, and he was closing in on it quickly enough.

"I see a Kishin egg," he stated with an air of anticipation. "A bit more than a quarter of a mile away. Ready, Toph?"

Toph smirked. Finally. "Get me close enough so I can bend up a few boulders, first. Let's bomb the stupid thing and then go kick it's butt." She really wanted to drop boulders on something. They'd be small boulders, but boulders.

Oh, bombing it. Now that is something that he has experience with.

"I can oblige that request with pleasure. Brace yourself."

He quickly closed the gap in distance between themselves and the Kishin egg in question. After having gotten a good look at it, he overshot the location of the egg and ended up a small ways away from it. He only hovered close enough to the ground for Toph's convenience.

"We are only some small distance away from it -- I am quite sure you can manage something great with the earth and rocks here..."

Toph pulled up a few boulders roughly the size of large pumpkins.

"I could, if I had my bending back normally. Still, this'll distract it enough for us to land and get some slices in." She tapped Tem with her foot. "Okay, we're good."

And with that tap from her, he went ahead, flapping his wings to gain a little bit of height before hovering yet again: this time directly on top the kishin egg.

"We are in position."

Now all he could do was wait for what was to come, and be prepared to land quickly.

Toph let the rocks fall with a slightly maniac laugh. "I wish I could see its face!" she said, clinging to Tem before he dove down. "Let's go!"

After she gave word, he silently glided and backwinged it near enough the Kishin Egg.

Once he touched ground, it didn't take him long enough before he transformed himself into his weapon form, and well into her hands.

As soon as Tem got in her hands, Toph ran at the egg and swung, hoping to hit anything vital. It was a little difficult, with the Madness wavelength distracting her and the fact that she couldn't focus on the egg properly, but she gave it her best effort.

The Kishin egg seeing the danger right in front of it didn't do much but dodge. It wasn't quite successful though.

"Hit it again! You merely got its shoulder, Toph!"

It was raring to attack, that much could be seen.

"And do it quick!"

Toph swung again, aiming more in the direction of the thing's neck. If she missed, her next idea was to keep hacking at the arm until it fell off. It wasn't the best strategy, but at least she had one.

They were not kidding when they said that these were strongly infused with the madness wavelength that they were indeed stronger than what they'd met up before.

The Kishin egg bared its teeth, making grabs on the ground to try to get at this little yet delicious soul container that was slashing at him. After another attempt, it howls in anger.

Tem was now worried at this point.

"Toph -- I think we should regroup for a moment while we can, and resonate then."

"Better idea." Toph swung a third time. "I keep slicing this stupid thing, and we resonate."

That gave him pause. Technically speaking, he could concentrate on it if he could at least get through the haziness of the Madness wavelength that was interrupting. It was Toph that had to concentrate loads more if she were to do that.

"I hope you can do it."

And with that, he started concentrating on reaching out to her own soul, to find the harmony between them...

Meanwhile, that Kishin Egg only noticed something was going on. That wasn't a good thing -- here, have an Egg on the attack yet again.

Toph smirked and started searching for Temeraire's soul. It was...really hard, with the Madness and the attacking Kishin. She swung again. "Hey, I'm the greatest Earthbender in the world, remember? If I can teach Aang how to Earthbend, I can resonate while this spider fly annoys me." Where was Tem's soul...

He felt the lunges and swipes that she was making at the Egg with him, and he felt them connecting as well. The only trouble he had at the beginning was trying to connect with Toph's soul.

Yet, when she said that, he couldn't help but trust her. He remained silent, but he didn't stop until he found her. That damnably intrusive Madness wavelength was hampering things for them, but he knew she was willing herself to seek him out as he was doing so -- and when he did, their resonation felt quite extraordinary.

There he was. Toph grinned as they finally resonated, her seismic sense amplified. She could almost see the energy coming off them as she swung for the fourth time. "How bad is the Kishin?" she asked.

The Kishin was right there. It had paused in its barrage of attacks as it felt the change in the air. It was as if it were stunned.

"Still for the moment, but hurt."

But not for long. It wasn't until it was trying to attack again that Temeraire roared his defiance against it, as he knew that Toph would also feel the need to attack it yet again.

Toph kept swinging and slicing at the egg, trying to avoid getting hit. She was pretty sure the thing was bleeding--or the Kishin equivalent--but it was still attacking.

She had managed to slash through it with these last few attempts in near-vital regions, and though weakened this Egg was not going to give up without a fight, or at least attempting to maim this girl with that soul that he wanted to consume.

What it didn't expect was to be slashed right through its very being by four distinct slashes, three other ones apparently coming out of nowhere alongside the one from her blade.

This last slash arced its way through it, and down to the ground, leaving four exact same grooves down into the hardened earth.

Toph let go of Tem as the egg fell so he could transform back and eat the soul. She bent down, running a hand over the grooves.

"Okay, when did you sprout extra blades?"

He changed back after she let him go. He didn't speak until he had eaten the soul ball that was left behind floating in the air. It was not as though it was his first time, but it always felt a little strange after consuming one, but always for the better.

"But I did not sprout extra blades, Toph, not at all."

He went to examine the ground where she had slashed at the end.

"But if I were to guess from these four, I can only assume it has something to do with our resonation."

He paws at the ground next to it, claws digging into what bit of the hard earth he could. "I cannot help but wonder at how resonating can drastically change the outcome of a fight."

"It was a resonation attack!" Toph whooped and hugged Tem's neck. "We rock, Tem!"

He couldn't help but smile at that. This moment where she just stated that they 'rock' and while it was a probable unintended pun, he appreciated nonetheless.

Surely their relationship as a partnered pair has gone up a notch if they managed to make a resonation attack, after all.

"Yes Toph, we 'rock,' and since we know we can do it, we can perhaps master it after some training back home."

This moment of respite from any kishin eggs was interrupted by the sound of something unnatural coming their way. He is quite sure Toph could hear it, but it didn't take long for him to get into a defensive position. Seeing as where they were was a somewhat woody area, and having a sizable amount of trees that counts as a forest might hamper things a little as far as far-off visibility goes.

He wasn't going to take any chances this time around, but he still had to defer to Toph.

"That it's close by is as much as I know..."

"Probably another egg." Toph moved to stand by Tem, ready to grab him if she needed to slice things. "Get ready, just in case."
