[OPEN]
Characters: OPEN
Location: Death City Clinic
Rating: ?
Time: February 5 onward
Description: Event links list.
There's a grim silence in the clinic, broken only by the complaints of some patient that is still there or the adjustments the medical staff makes on the numerous stretches, supplies, and furnishings prepared for today's mission.
A handful of guards are stationed outside, both to function as runners and to keep an eye on the mirror in case something less welcome than their agents coming home appears. Some of them are Australian, the promised agents from the Oceania branch from Deathscythe Mjolnir.

"I'm well enough and it shouldn't take too long."
Though, he did have a point with the IV.
"Perhaps I'll ask for a spare blanket instead then."
no subject
"Uh, i-if y'think I need one. Get somethin' for yourself, too!"
...screw it.
"Visiting hours might be wrappin' up soon. If... y'know, if you feel like stickin' around a little longer..." Spoken oh-so-casually.
no subject
Now she didn't know what he had been trying to get at.

After floundering for another while longer, he sighed out of his nose. Even without the clock's help, nothing about the view just outside the window told anyone that it was late by any means.
"Sorry," he finally grumbled. Then he looked up.
"...Places like this still make my damn skin crawl. 'Til you got here, 's just been nurses n' doctors pokin' at me. Y'know, when they don't call security to throw my ass back in here for tryin' to leave earlier."
no subject
Kanji could probably recall Naoto's own anxiousness to leave after the Europe missions.
"Still, they are going to discharge you tomorrow morning. I double checked."
no subject
"Yeah? ...Thanks. They weren't givin' me any answers after they told me I was staying."
He blinked, and swore under his breath then.
"...Megumi's still got my jacket, too. Shit, my stuff's all over the city at this point." But he was a little worried. If for any reason Megumi lost the box in the inner pocket...!
no subject
"Yes. They're a bit preoccupied with the amount of patients we brought in from the mission."
Those serious cases do take several hours to handle what with requiring surgery.
"We'll be able to find your belongings once you're discharged."
no subject
That train of thought had him recall that he was getting pretty uncomfortable in the things. Kanji drew in a breath and turned his head away.
"Y-yeah... sounds like a plan. Maybe they finished washin' my clothes, at least." His pants. He just wanted to wear pants.
no subject
Naoto looked back at him, confused, but then nodded. Right, he didn't have pants on. He was still covered up; there was no need to be embarrassed.
"Anyway, would you prefer coffee or tea?" She's still going to make that run to get hot drinks.
no subject
"...Uh, coffee," he replied, trying his hardest to shoo away those thoughts. With all the blood rushing to his face, at least he didn't have to worry about being cold outwardly.
That was a plus, right?
no subject
Though, she had to pause when she notice the color climbing to his face again. Perhaps she should get a thermometer too... Either way, she nodded and walked over to the door. "I'll be back in a moment."
no subject
Well, he couldn't go anywhere, so he'd be right here. While she was out, he would try not to rouse the sleeping kitten while he helped himself to giving the small fuzzball a hug.
Nobody was looking, right...?

Kanji stopped dead, then sat up immediately and turned his head away. The silver of his piercings seemed to gleam as they stood out against just how red his ears got.
no subject
She entered slowly, setting the steaming drink on Kanji's bed table.
"I got tea instead. My apologies, but it was foolish I ask what to get since coffee can worsen your dehydration."
no subject
"Tea's fine, then. Thanks." He nodded, and with a low, quiet breath to steady himself he turned his eyes back.
Ugh, he must have looked dumb. He lived by himself, and was so used to spoiling the little cat with affection now and again. He formed a little nest with the blanket atop his lap, and slowly deposited Iza into the middle. Either the kitten was a heavy sleeper, or Kanji was just that good.
no subject
She didn't find it odd, but somewhat endearing. It was just Kanji showing his affectionate ownership of Iza... even if it was a somewhat bizarre way. "... She must be happy to have you back."
no subject
"Y'can't tell with cats. Dunno if she's happy to see me or her giver of food." Kanji shook his head. He liked to believe the cat actually missed him, despite the well-known independence of felines.
"Me? ...I'm glad to be back. Think I've had my fill of sittin' in a cold, dark cave to last me a lifetime."
He lifted the cup then, and drank. Shivered a bit at the feeling of a warmed-up core without realizing.
"First the Black Blood, now this. Damn it... here I was tryin' to be less of a pain in the ass."
no subject
"This wasn't exactly your fault. You have enough time to rest since I doubt the Witches will try another invasion with their numbers the way they are now." Unless they brought a Kishin with them; then it would be trouble.
no subject
With a quiet sigh, however, he silently noted that it was dumb to beat himself up for it by any measure. It was over now, anyway.
"So what happened? The numbers were still pretty hefty when the bird grabbed me."
no subject
They were fortunate that they were able to locate the Witches and those kidnapped quickly.
no subject
They liked to cause damage wherever they could, that he knew... but was that the whole reason they tainted the water, then decided to come in with a makeshift army?
no subject
They could attempt that any other day. "Still, we'll have to wait until more details are released or inquire about them on a later date."
no subject
However, he gave a sound of acknowledgement. Part of why there weren't any details about the invasion had to have been due to the planning and execution of the rescue mission.
Iza mewed from his lap, paws twitching in a dream. He gently ruffled the fur on her chest.
"I overheard two of the nurses earlier... somethin' about a Witch livin' in the city." He wasn't sure whether it was true or not - rumors and gossip were usually just rumors and gossip as far as he was concerned - but that'd be plenty of motivation for the invasion, wouldn't it?
no subject
Naoto briefly glanced back at Iza when she mewed, but then looked back up at Kanji. She closed her eyes and nodded.
"She has been in Death City for a while, being held prisoner by Shibusen. It was because of her we went to Europe to destroy those machines. I believe she came with us on the rescue mission..."
