The scouts had done their jobs well and the mirror deposits its travelers just at the end of the area Shibusen has closed off as their mission target. It's still dawn, the sun barely visible over the horizon. The witches hasn't noticed them there yet, the scouts say, so it's still possible to take them by surprise.

This is what the agents are told: In the rock face of the Grand Canyon is a cavern system made up of many small caves and three large ones. The large caves contain a kishin egg pit, the kidnapped agents and civilians, and what appears to be a machine at one end. There are about five dozen zombies crawling the area, and an equal number of ants, spiders, and ravens on top of it.

Worst of all, the scouts report that they had sighted a few of the agents patrolling for the Witches. The scouts hadn't been certain if these ones had soul perception or other abilities, and had given the area as much space as they could in order to avoid an early confrontation. Still, it's bad news and it looks like a fight with some of the kidnappees themselves is inevitable.

Not much time is given to the agents after the briefing before they're being ushered into place. A few scouts are going to be causing a commotion some distance away to distract the familiars and zombies, clearing a path for the agents. After that, it's all up to them.

Ryoki’s eyes widen when he heard Lili. He couldn’t allow Jules to transform, that much he knew; he had fought a partnered up Meister just now and he had a Meister wielding him. He knew perfectly well how dangerous two together could be.

So when the bull saw Lili taking Jule’s hand, Ryoki ran towards them “Fuck!!” he had to stop it, and his target was Jules, because he knew how Lili fought and he’d rather get rid of the nuisance first.

Except he was too slow, Jules had turned. So Ryoki’s next move was to try to kick Lili’s hand so she’d release the Weapon.

He might have been too late to stop him from transforming, but Ryoki was still quick, and he got to the two of them before Lili was able to adjust her grip to suit a switch rather than a hand. His kick knocked Jules from her hand. She didn't bother trying to retrieve him, not yet, Ryoki was too close and wasting even a second could get her seriously hurt.

She twisted to the side before Ryoki even had his leg down, and struck at his injured shoulder with all her strength. Taking advantage of that could be the quickest way to subdue him, and unlike the rest of their fights, Lili had no desire to drag this out longer than necessary.

Being in his weapon form made everything feel different, and the sensation of falling was a particularly odd one. He was helpless, unable to even cling to Lili or somehow soften the blow of hitting a nearby wall. Gingerly, he lifted himself from the floor to -- ah. The shock or the injury or something to that effect had caused him to turn back to his original form (had anybody explained this kind of thing to him? it was hard to remember in the moment).

Like this, he could only be a potential target for Ryoki and a liability to Lili; there was no choice but to run away from the fight. He couldn't go very far, though, so that there would still be chances to resonate and join her again. Hopefully, Ryoki was so caught up in the battle that he didn't care to notice Jules lurking.

The sudden hit at his already hurt shoulder made Ryoki scream out in pain and fall behind with the force of the impact. He wasn’t a fan of pain, not when he was the one feeling it, so, something like that, did throw him off to some extent. The bull gripped on his damaged shoulder, gasping for air as he tried to dissipate the pain, when something at the corner of his eye called his attention: Jules.

Nevermind the pain, Ryoki still had to gut that guy. “Where are ya going, you yellow rat?” he was the half bull’s first target, after all. Ryoki could handle Lili on his own, but he needed to make sure she had no weapon to wield first.

The teenager got up, smirking like a mad man at Lili and quickly moved his leg to kick her. It wasn’t a kick meant to aim, it was mostly to force her to step back enough to give Ryoki the chance to dash towards Jules after.

Lili jumped back to avoid the kick, and raised her arms to protect her head. She had expected Ryoki to continue, but instead, he was running towards Jules. She starts running herself, but she won't get to Jules before Ryoki does.

"Turn back!"

"Wh--"

He nearly shouted something back, a request for instructions, before realizing how impossible it would be to have a strategic discussion at this point. There was nothing to lose; if Ryoki was focused on attacking him, it was much preferable to be near Lili. He dashed back toward her, at what was his best speed but not a particularly impressive one.

The half rushed as fast as he could towards Jules, a crazy laugher echoing through the cave, and he pretty much threw himself at him like a wild bull would. It didn't matter with what he hit Jules, as long as he did and stopped him from reaching the woman.

Fist came, kick followed and Ryoki's crazed smirk never faded from his lips while he went berserk. "KAYAHAHAHA! Die die die die!!!"
