Phase 3: Mission 153
Characters: Grand Canyon mission goers, victims, medics
Location: Grand Canyon
Rating: R
Time: Feb 5, 2009, mission starts at dawn
Description: Event links list.
The scouts had done their jobs well and the mirror deposits its travelers just at the end of the area Shibusen has closed off as their mission target. It's still dawn, the sun barely visible over the horizon. The witches hasn't noticed them there yet, the scouts say, so it's still possible to take them by surprise.
This is what the agents are told: In the rock face of the Grand Canyon is a cavern system made up of many small caves and three large ones. The large caves contain a kishin egg pit, the kidnapped agents and civilians, and what appears to be a machine at one end. There are about five dozen zombies crawling the area, and an equal number of ants, spiders, and ravens on top of it.
Worst of all, the scouts report that they had sighted a few of the agents patrolling for the Witches. The scouts hadn't been certain if these ones had soul perception or other abilities, and had given the area as much space as they could in order to avoid an early confrontation. Still, it's bad news and it looks like a fight with some of the kidnappees themselves is inevitable.
Not much time is given to the agents after the briefing before they're being ushered into place. A few scouts are going to be causing a commotion some distance away to distract the familiars and zombies, clearing a path for the agents. After that, it's all up to them.
[ooc: Just put up your own threads with the subject line [Characters][Feeding Cave/MMM Cave/Kishin Egg Pit/Elsewhere][Open/Close]
Kidnappees can go thread in the caves while waiting for the rescuers, too.
For those who want to thread with a witch, please add it in the subject line so we know where to go!
This day change will be one week irl.
The mirror will stay open for anyone who needs to be rushed back to the medics.
For those handwaving, please put your summaries here for the meister points and soul tally record.]

Whatever it was, Raidou was coming for him and he was unarmed. He would have to prepare to be stabbed if he couldn't knock the katana out of his hands.
"If it's as you say, and these are your true feelings, so be it. Put down your sword and talk to me then as I have always listened to you."
no subject
He's distracted. Let me transform back to defend you for now. We can pair up again once he's taken notice of us again. The more targets for him to deal with, the more likely we can land a hit on him.

Miles wasn't looking at Genesis. Instead, he was watching Raidou and Alucard warily, still trying to work a strategy out. But Genesis' plan sounded better than anything the prosecutor could come up with on the fly.
Maybe he really was better off saving his ability for later - like when they split up and tried to take Raidou on, three against one.
...Very well, then.
no subject
His gazed flickered towards the other two. Trying to surround him, hmm?
"Just try it. I have faced hoardes of demons before; if you think you can survive this simply by outnumbering me, you will find yourself disappointed." A thin smile crossed his lips. "That, and torn to pieces."
The sword swung in an arc; it wasn't a focused attack intended to hit as much as it was to make a point, forcing the rescuers away if they didn't want to be cut. Both hands gripped the handle as the detective took a battle stance.
"Come at me if you dare."
no subject
"As for anything else, if you talk to me more, I might be able to understand you more."
He hadn't had any time to talk to Edgeworth and the other man to work out a strategy. If Raidou really wanted, he could damage them badly. What was Edgeworth up to?
I AM SO LATE, I'm sorry ;;
NO LATE and whoops Gen is a broadsword I MADE A MISTAKE ON THE PARTNERSHIP PAGE
If outnumbering Raidou was not an option...then it would be better for Genesis to return to his Weapon form and work with Miles again as a cohesive unit.
He grabbed Genesis' wrist and looked at him intently, hoping the Weapon got the message - which was to transform back into the broadsword.
NEVER TOO LATE also feel free to use Soul Talk if you want
"You can never understand. You, who have never had to carry a thousand years of expectations on your shoulders... You will never understand."
Bored of waiting for them to strike first, he suddenly lunged -- not at Alucard, but at Edgeworth. The prosecutor was the larger threat for the moment with his Weapon and Meister ability, and open to attack as long as his partner was not yet transformed.
no subject
Alucard hadn't even sensed the detective about to change directions. He didn't even have time to try to grab at Raidou's retreating cloak to haul him backward.
I'll leave it to Auste to decide Edgey's fate |Dc
Genesis lunged towards his partner, releasing his partial form in order to block Raidou's attack or at least deflect enough of it.
But isn't that always my job? XD
"Hold it!" He yelled at Raidou - and felt the power of his ability in his words even though he hadn't meant to use it now. Maybe as long as he stayed behind Genesis, he could be safer. "Stop! Detective, that's enough!"
1/2 Here it comes...
2/2
All thoughts of strategy forgotten, the detective pushed Genesis away with a sudden shove. The sword swung wildly without any attempt at control as his eyes fixated on Edgeworth in blazing, unadulterated rage.
...and then I realized I don't have any appropriate injured/dying icons
Whatever he was going to tell Genesis (sans the Soul Talk, of course) was cut off by a loud, strangled gasp of pain. Miles staggered back and fell, clutching his stomach with one hand, his breathing shallow and fast as blood stained his clothes and fingers.
Raidou's sword had found its mark, and the color began to drain from the prosecutor's face. He said nothing, but looked down at where the blade had stabbed him, then toward the bloody weapon in Raidou's hand...
"D - Detective..."
one would hope you don't need them often :(
He deserved it he deserved it but it's Edgeworth-san and I just triedtokillhim
"Shut up," he breathed in a trembling voice, taking a step back. The hand holding the sword shook violently. "I... I warned you... not to get in my way... I..."
He is scary when he is angry
Alucard saw his Meister still try to utter defiance even with the evidence in front of him. Something just...snapped.
With two great strides, he grabbed Raidou by the shoulders, whipped him around and into the wall. "What do you think you're doing!" he roared. "Is THIS your grand idea to subvert what you say life has thrown on you? Killing the people that would try to help you is your response?"
His tone grew soft and mocking, all the while his eyes seemed to shine with a dangerous light. "What a brave and noble man the Witches have made you. You don't like people trying to help you, just get rid of them. So convenient for your morals right now, detective."
Alucard bodily shook his Meister, tightening his grip. "This is NOT who you are! Any reason to cling to this falsehood is asinine so I suggest you wake up now."
no subject
For now, Genesis wasted no time in undressing his meister's upper half to locate the stab wound and wrap his white shirt over it in order to place pressure. That should ease the bleeding while they took care of Raidou.
"We need to get out of here, quick!"
no subject
He was too busy fighting to stay conscious even as his strength rapidly slipped away. The part of his mind that still worked properly without being blinded by pain told him that trying to help Alucard by using his ability again would be too much at this point.
no subject
"I... I... I didn't..."
He hadn't done anything wrong, a stubborn part of him hissed in the back of his mind. He had defended himself, from Edgeworth who had tried to control him--
--Edgeworth-san who had been there from the beginning, who had given him a place at the Agency, a place where he could belong along with everyone else... with Naoto and Franziska and Yako and Fuuka...
...and Alucard, his partner, who was now towering over him with such a look on his face that it made Raidou cower...
"S-stop... I..." His voice gave in and so did his knees, until he was only held up by Alucard's grip on his shoulders. "You... You are wrong... I am not..."
No, he wasn't the one in the wrong, they were! They were the ones chaining him down! He only needed to fight back and kill them and then he'd be...
...all alone again...
The detective covered his face, as though he could hide from the dhampir's glare. The next words, whispered from behind his hands, were barely audible.
"I... What have I done...?"
no subject
"What is done is done. We have to help Edgeworth now."
Alucard turned away from Raidou to help Edgeworth and Genesis. He ripped off his long cloak and laid on on the ground. "Place him on here. We can carry him like this if we lift it up together. If we need to, shred some more of the cloak to wrap around his chest."
no subject
Genesis moved now to place Edgeworth on the cloak as he undid his red leather coat to place on top of the meister. They can certainly move fast enough to get Edgeworth healed up, but the only question now was what to do with Raidou.
"We need to get him out, too."
no subject
Just because he was weak and wounded and could do nothing but let Alucard and Genesis attend to him did not mean he couldn't agree with them. They couldn't leave Raidou behind, especially not if the detective could return to his senses.
no subject
It's not too late. Take your sword and kill them now, while you have the chance...
He lowered his hands and saw Edgeworth lying there, bleeding and in pain. The voice faded away.
"...I... I can walk... on my own..."
