Phase 3: Mission 153

Characters: Grand Canyon mission goers, victims, medics
Location: Grand Canyon
Rating: R
Time: Feb 5, 2009, mission starts at dawn
Description: Event links list.

The scouts had done their jobs well and the mirror deposits its travelers just at the end of the area Shibusen has closed off as their mission target. It's still dawn, the sun barely visible over the horizon. The witches hasn't noticed them there yet, the scouts say, so it's still possible to take them by surprise.

This is what the agents are told: In the rock face of the Grand Canyon is a cavern system made up of many small caves and three large ones. The large caves contain a kishin egg pit, the kidnapped agents and civilians, and what appears to be a machine at one end. There are about five dozen zombies crawling the area, and an equal number of ants, spiders, and ravens on top of it.

Worst of all, the scouts report that they had sighted a few of the agents patrolling for the Witches. The scouts hadn't been certain if these ones had soul perception or other abilities, and had given the area as much space as they could in order to avoid an early confrontation. Still, it's bad news and it looks like a fight with some of the kidnappees themselves is inevitable.

Not much time is given to the agents after the briefing before they're being ushered into place. A few scouts are going to be causing a commotion some distance away to distract the familiars and zombies, clearing a path for the agents. After that, it's all up to them.

[ooc: Just put up your own threads with the subject line [Characters][Feeding Cave/MMM Cave/Kishin Egg Pit/Elsewhere][Open/Close]
Kidnappees can go thread in the caves while waiting for the rescuers, too.
For those who want to thread with a witch, please add it in the subject line so we know where to go!
This day change will be one week irl.
The mirror will stay open for anyone who needs to be rushed back to the medics.
For those handwaving, please put your summaries here for the meister points and soul tally record.]

Mushu peered up, holding on tight to Toph's shirt. His eyes were straight on Hisoka, "Man! Guy's hangin' onto your dirt tracks, kid." He gave a small little huff before his eyes widened.

"HEADS UP, DRAGON BOY! Incomin', straight ahead!" He watched Hisoka come closer, while he was not as big as Tem. Mushu had found his uses in the army.

"Watch ya sides and legs man....guy don't look happy." OF course once Hisoka was in close he ducked back down out of habit, his eyes still on the redhead.

Thank the Spirits for Mushu. Toph slid her foot against the ground, hoping to trip the attacker. Instead of having the dirt in front of him move, she had the dirt behind him come up and tried to catch his ankle. She also brought some dirt up around them in a shield. It wasn't a strong as her shields back home, but it would hold.

Unless the guy had a mallet or something.

Thanks to Mushu for giving him advanced warning on what he saw, as well as Toph's quick thinking in placing the dirt shield in front was Temeraire able to have a bit of time in order to rear up on his haunches with a little help from his wings.

If the man truly did intend to go through with attacking where his forelimbs were at, he would have a bit of surprise for himself. Slashing someone with talons while at war was acceptable, he tried to momentarily rationalize to himself, for he was aiming to do him harm.

If there were a way that the man could surprise them, as he did when he tried to aim his Divine Wind in his direction, Temeraire did not know what it could be.

All he knew was that he was going to have to act quickly.

Expecting that the blind girl would do something, Hisoka was somewhat prepared for an earth-related attack. Shielding his eyes from the dust, he followed through with his attack, confident in his natural strength.

His foot slammed into the wall of dirt, smashing through and causing large chucks to fly back towards the trio. But the wall had taken most of the power out of his kick, so using the confusion of the flying rocks to hide his next move, he followed the kick with a quick punch, aiming this time for the girl.
