The scouts had done their jobs well and the mirror deposits its travelers just at the end of the area Shibusen has closed off as their mission target. It's still dawn, the sun barely visible over the horizon. The witches hasn't noticed them there yet, the scouts say, so it's still possible to take them by surprise.

This is what the agents are told: In the rock face of the Grand Canyon is a cavern system made up of many small caves and three large ones. The large caves contain a kishin egg pit, the kidnapped agents and civilians, and what appears to be a machine at one end. There are about five dozen zombies crawling the area, and an equal number of ants, spiders, and ravens on top of it.

Worst of all, the scouts report that they had sighted a few of the agents patrolling for the Witches. The scouts hadn't been certain if these ones had soul perception or other abilities, and had given the area as much space as they could in order to avoid an early confrontation. Still, it's bad news and it looks like a fight with some of the kidnappees themselves is inevitable.

Not much time is given to the agents after the briefing before they're being ushered into place. A few scouts are going to be causing a commotion some distance away to distract the familiars and zombies, clearing a path for the agents. After that, it's all up to them.

"I think it's better I push myself a little, then put us on the defensive, Clare wasn't exactly thrilled with trying to come up with new ways to spark and keep her anger aflame in this chaos, but the pain from various attempted strikes on her did help. Pain was a wonderful motivator, and while in her offensive state every strike did hurt.

Clare's mind kept dancing to her madness's lovely tune, twisted by her anger into something a bit closer to rock than was Clare's usual tune. Clare saw what was going on with the other pair and scrambled for enough clarity to come up with any suggestion, no matter how stupid or insane.

"Let's drop the roof on this cavern!" She came up with one that was both, apparently. She wasn't sure how to go about it safely, but she was 70% certain that a blast of energy from one of her strikes could damage the cave. And in her less than sane state 100% sure it would be fun AND wouldn't get them killed. A sane Clare wouldn't be that sure of anything, especially two things as dubious as those items were.

And Eve didn't say anything more about it after that. A big part of a partnership was trust, and she would give it to Clare. Besides, Clare was right. They couldn't afford to go on the defensive.

One of Eve's better qualities was the ability to keep a cool head in these situations. And while she didn't think they'd necessarily die from a cave in, she wasn't particularly keen on resorting to it needlessly.

Though...

Eve fought her way so that she'd be closer to the other pair. She saw the way the Kishin was stopped.

"That was a barrier just now, right?" Another Kishin egg lunged at her, and she planted her fist in its face.

Teresa knew well that Yuuri's fear to avoid injury to her went beyond her own reasonable nature and confidence in combat. She was unafraid of the Kishin egg, but she hadn't resonated with her Weapon long enough to pass along her confidence to him. She expected that even as her attention remained on the Kishin Egg as its attack began.

The barrier that went up was an expected gesture on her Weapon's behalf, and it shook with the force of the blow even as she glanced once at the other pair before pushing herself into motion. Even with her fatigue, she moved with a veteran swiftness and eased around the barrier that the Kishin Egg appeared confused by.

She shoved off the ground, bouncing from the Kishin Egg's leg before settling on its leveled arms. She stood only a moment before charging down towards its head and shoved the large blade through its left eye and twisting the blade. She rode the thrashing Kishin Egg into one nearby before abandoning the dying creature and engaging the next one.

"Do keep up, girls," she called pleasantly to the other pair.

There was definitely a sense of relief felt within as the Kishin Egg struck against the barrier. He knew that Teresa was fine in that moment, and he used that knowledge along with her confidence to relax and calm his mind. She was more than capable in combat, he knew, but so much had happened to each of his Meister's here before that he always found it difficult to settle whenever they were in battle.

Doing what he could to ignore the feel of the Kishin Egg around his bladed form, Yuuri instead closed his eyes to focus on the feelings he felt to distract him. He could feel the energy of their blood empowering his form with each strike, and with his eyes closed, it almost felt as if the influx of Kishin Eggs would be endless. Yuuri hoped beyond all hope that wouldn't be the case, and did what he could to use that energy to help Teresa in any way possible.

Clare was crazy, and a little bit distractable, but she wasn't stupid by any means. "Eve if we do this we'll need to be closer to the entrance to the cavern. That means getting those two to play along. I know the sword but I don't know his partner or what she's like."

Sexy, of course, briefly flashed through Clare's mind as her focus drifted a little. She quickly pulled herself back to anger, and powering her rose emblem. Using Teresa's appearance, and the fact the Kishin would mar such beauty as a reason to hate them more. "I can also let go of my anger, and return to my defensive state. Another defensive layer if we bring down the roof."
