The scouts had done their jobs well and the mirror deposits its travelers just at the end of the area Shibusen has closed off as their mission target. It's still dawn, the sun barely visible over the horizon. The witches hasn't noticed them there yet, the scouts say, so it's still possible to take them by surprise.

This is what the agents are told: In the rock face of the Grand Canyon is a cavern system made up of many small caves and three large ones. The large caves contain a kishin egg pit, the kidnapped agents and civilians, and what appears to be a machine at one end. There are about five dozen zombies crawling the area, and an equal number of ants, spiders, and ravens on top of it.

Worst of all, the scouts report that they had sighted a few of the agents patrolling for the Witches. The scouts hadn't been certain if these ones had soul perception or other abilities, and had given the area as much space as they could in order to avoid an early confrontation. Still, it's bad news and it looks like a fight with some of the kidnappees themselves is inevitable.

Not much time is given to the agents after the briefing before they're being ushered into place. A few scouts are going to be causing a commotion some distance away to distract the familiars and zombies, clearing a path for the agents. After that, it's all up to them.

"If we can't dent a kishin egg with our normal weapons then we'll try resonance."

As though saying the word called it forth, a wolf-like kishin egg loped down the corridor. It picked up the pace for the attack as soon as it caught sight of the two of them.

[madamabfly]

"Alright!"

As soon as she set eyes on the kishin egg, Bayonetta grinned and proceeded to charge forward, eager to launch an attack. Leaping into the air, she began to shoot at the wolf as she moved. She was a bit disappointed at the lowered accuracy she had due to the lack of her powers, but she was still able to land some hits on the creature and reposition herself so as she and Auron surrounded the beast.

Auron stabbed the wolf with his katana, managing to wound it but nothing serious. "This thing can die any time now."

Except it doesn't seem to, as it has Sin's own luck of never wanting to die already. "I think we need to try resonance."

[madamabfly]

"Alright then! Get ready to catch me!" Bayonetta called out as she launched herself into the air once more, gracefully twisting as she managed to transform into her weapon form for Auron to catch.

Auron caught the Weapon and didn't immediately have to drop it, which was a good sign. There was the obvious problem of him never having used a whip before.

"Do I injure based on how hard I can swing the whip or how fast?"

[madamabfly]

"Just do it hard and fast!" Bayonetta commanded. In any case, she herself can guide her own movement. But hurting their opponent was all up to how Auron can use her.

And all of a sudden, everything sounds dirty. XD

In other words, to Auron's mind, keep hitting things until they don't move. He could handle that. He flailed the weapon in front of him, as though he were swinging a sword. By either speed or force, he knocked the wolf over.

Auron smiled. He might get to like using a whip.

You'll need to work your wrist a little more, dear. Brute force isn't enough if you want to work me good.

Bayonetta slyly spoke through their resonance. While the wolf was knocked down, they still had a way to go before getting to their target.

Pffff

"So you're saying I need more finesse?" Auron asked, amused.

You needed to use your whole body to swing a sword effectively, but it seemed like that wasn't the case with the whip. So while the wolf was still reeling, Auron stood back and flicked the whip over the monster's body, ripping parts from it.

Exactly.

As Auron moved her, she responded fluidly-- it didn't take much to resonate with her, after all. She was more or less a generally agreeable weapon.

It took him a bit to wrap his mind around the difference of resonance. It felt more...fluid, like the Weapon in his hand. Once he accepted that, he felt more eager to tear apart the next unfortunate kishin egg that came his way.

"Is that enough finesse for you?"

[madamabfly]

"Much much better."

Bayonetta laughed, getting used to their resonance.

"You'll do wonderfully until Re-l catches up to us."
