[Event] Invasion!
Characters: OPEN to everyone!
Location: All over Death City
Rating: Various
Time: February 2nd
Description: Witches have invaded and are attacking the city!
The attack, when it comes, happens quickly enough that Death City would have been caught flat-footed had there been no prior warning, but it's not completely unexpected because of the city's heightened state of alarm the past day. Warning sirens start sounding to alert the citizens and guests the moment a dark, slow-moving mass out in the desert to the south-east of Death City is spotted by Shibusen sentries. There's even time for civilians to run and hide before the mass is identified as an army of what looks like decaying, shambling corpses. The city's defenders are slow to move, however; most of them are distracted and are having trouble dealing with the black blood in their bodies. While agents are gathering to head out to deal with the zombie threat, that's when the witches make their move.
Portals begin opening in the skies above the city, disgorging hideous familiars: bulbous spiders and leggy ants the size of dogs. They drop hundreds of feet down into the streets and alleyways of Death City, and scuttle off in search of victims. The spiders are poisonous and can spin copious amounts of web to capture their targets, the ants spit acid that cause agonizing, paralyzing pain. Their masters bear down on the city in a cloud of black shadows--massive ravens strong enough to carry off adult men. There are five witches, women on broomsticks, beautiful if not for their crazed grins and obvious glee at the chaos descending upon the city. At some unknown signal--maybe the cackling from a couple of them--they dive in concert and disappear into different areas of the city.
Their masterful plan has begun!

But from what he had gleaned from the network, this didn't feel...right.
"It isn't working."
He says this as if this is somehow Bakura's fault.

A clacking noise makes Shirogane look up, and without any sort of warning, he shoves Bakura out of the way as an ant launches a glob of acid at them.

On reflex, Bakura reverts back to weapon form, rolling out of the way before changing back again. Crap crap crap CRAP! Looking around for anything he could use as a make shift weapon to help, the only thing he could spot was someone's grocery bag, discarded on the sidewalk as they had run.
He hoped whomever had been shopping had been getting canned goods...
Without even pausing to think, he grabbed hold of it, swinging it at the ant to try and knock it away.

The hit connects, but sadly the bag wasn't full of canned goods. But it did have the next best thing: frozen juice concentrate. It hits the ant in one leg, knocking it off balance, causing it to hiss and clack in their direction as it struggles to right itself.
As it struggles Shirogane closes his hand around the nearest thing that could be used as a weapon: a cane, most likely left behind when people had tried to get away. He swings it like he would a sword, aiming for the place where the ant's head connects with its body.

But with poor resonaton, all he could use were his dodging and pathetic fighting skill. It was very lucky Shirogane was far more skilled, his strike doing far better against the ant as Bakura again swung his makeshift flail. Maybe between the two of them, they could defeat it physically...?
no subject
Shirogane doesn't even bother to glance at what Bakura was doing while he takes another swing at the same place the first hit had connected, "Aim for the joints."
no subject
He's hoping the latter will happen sooner than the former, though the stress on the bag is already showing... Maybe if he could take out another leg....
no subject
At least the struggling seems to be slowing as Shirogane and Bakura's hits take their toll on the ant.
no subject
Chest heaving, Bakura leaned back against the wall, shoulders slumping. One down....
no subject
"If you're going to rest, at least find somewhere safe to do it."

"Then you should have practiced more. To start off with, you should have aimed for the joints in the beginning."
Shirogane is bad at the polite thing. And he has long ago replaced the 'good job' entry in his vocabulary with 'you could have done better'.

This is a good attitude that Bakura has, and Shirogane approves of it. Which doesn't mean he isn't still going to lecture you until you are as good as he thinks you should be and he just keeps raising the bar so you'll have to work a lifetime for his approval.

His grip tightens on his cane though. He isn't giving it up.
no subject
Speaking of home... "Thank you for your help!" he bowed again. "Since the coast is clear...." Time to make a break for it.
no subject
Shirogane stays where he is, waiting for Bakura to leave.
