[Event] Invasion!
Characters: OPEN to everyone!
Location: All over Death City
Rating: Various
Time: February 2nd
Description: Witches have invaded and are attacking the city!
The attack, when it comes, happens quickly enough that Death City would have been caught flat-footed had there been no prior warning, but it's not completely unexpected because of the city's heightened state of alarm the past day. Warning sirens start sounding to alert the citizens and guests the moment a dark, slow-moving mass out in the desert to the south-east of Death City is spotted by Shibusen sentries. There's even time for civilians to run and hide before the mass is identified as an army of what looks like decaying, shambling corpses. The city's defenders are slow to move, however; most of them are distracted and are having trouble dealing with the black blood in their bodies. While agents are gathering to head out to deal with the zombie threat, that's when the witches make their move.
Portals begin opening in the skies above the city, disgorging hideous familiars: bulbous spiders and leggy ants the size of dogs. They drop hundreds of feet down into the streets and alleyways of Death City, and scuttle off in search of victims. The spiders are poisonous and can spin copious amounts of web to capture their targets, the ants spit acid that cause agonizing, paralyzing pain. Their masters bear down on the city in a cloud of black shadows--massive ravens strong enough to carry off adult men. There are five witches, women on broomsticks, beautiful if not for their crazed grins and obvious glee at the chaos descending upon the city. At some unknown signal--maybe the cackling from a couple of them--they dive in concert and disappear into different areas of the city.
Their masterful plan has begun!

Even Re-l can't stop the chuckle at his question, amused as she turns to look at him an answer what he's asking.
"No, we don't. We build and destroy and kill everything we can in the path of it in endless time loops. You haven't learned that by now?" And with a ghost of a smile she turns right back to a determined pace toward the incoming invasion.

"And how many times of the repeating cycle can you get through before you realize that's all the proof you need?" It seems strange to her that they could have such an animated conversation, like this, but at the same time it's a rather amusing thing, amongst all this chaos of the invasion.

He made a sound that was close to chuckle. Even with his connection to the rest of himself being sealed the chaos and death within the city seemed to have an elating effect on his body. Or maybe their existence and brutal break from the regularity of this world simply helped reminding him that there was a valid reason for his existence and how he became what he was. He would have to question himself about it later on.
"..Or maybe I feel that way because I have simply become too old. I was different, one, too."

"Outside of time?" She seems to ponder on that for a while. If she was honest with herself, she might have understood that - at least in a slight way - as a being whose growth had been accelerated. She remembered being 8 years old, and remembered being 19, but the space between was a strange blankness and in between were lessons and meetings with her grandfather, and not much else. She might not be in his same situation, but on the same coin, yes. She understood in her own strange way.
"It doesn't seem so strange, actually."
This sort of destruction and threat of imminent death or disfigurement was like settling back into an almost normality. The only part that was a little nerve wracking was that she didn't have her typical band of.. friends with her. Having Vincent around was a strange comfort - a being so closely associated with death even though he had such a gentle shell to him. "We all change, with our conditions."

But on the other hand... It was him who is the god who is closest to mortals and the life they bear in them and if compared, there was also ne denying that it was him who seemed a lot more alive than the god of the sky. The sense it made was a contradiction.
Shaking his head to clear the though away for later, he gave her a blank look (that ended up looking as haughty as always). "It is like asking me about how it is to be dead." Or asking the gods for any kind of advice, really.

"Is that so bad?" Coming from a place that had come to an end, particularly because it refused to change, to adapt to what was coming and had been coming, to change it's way of thought, the idea of changing to fit things didn't seem a bad idea. It's what Re-l had done to survive, after all. She'd gone against every convention ever set up by their society, but they were all dead now, leaving only Vincent, Pino, Kristeeva, and herself as refugees of a shattered dome and crushed technology that had once been a flourishing place.
"I imagine it isn't much different than being alive - considering you're still walking, talking, thinking."
She shrugs. Autoreivs also didn't have pulses, only wires and cpus and hippocampus files, so the idea of something walking, talking, thinking, that wasn't particularly alive? Not all that disturbing.

"It makes all and no difference. By body can be torn into pieces or burnt and yet I would not know how it is to be dead." He'd simply feel the pain and heal again.
no subject
"But you feel the pain and know the experience, don't you?" She would hope so, at least, considering it would change her opinion considerably if he didn't. Or well, maybe not her opinion, but the way she viewed Hades for sure.
"Are we getting close?"
no subject
He gave her a blank look. "Close?"
