[Event] Invasion!

Description: Witches have invaded and are attacking the city!

The attack, when it comes, happens quickly enough that Death City would have been caught flat-footed had there been no prior warning, but it's not completely unexpected because of the city's heightened state of alarm the past day. Warning sirens start sounding to alert the citizens and guests the moment a dark, slow-moving mass out in the desert to the south-east of Death City is spotted by Shibusen sentries. There's even time for civilians to run and hide before the mass is identified as an army of what looks like decaying, shambling corpses. The city's defenders are slow to move, however; most of them are distracted and are having trouble dealing with the black blood in their bodies. While agents are gathering to head out to deal with the zombie threat, that's when the witches make their move.

Portals begin opening in the skies above the city, disgorging hideous familiars: bulbous spiders and leggy ants the size of dogs. They drop hundreds of feet down into the streets and alleyways of Death City, and scuttle off in search of victims. The spiders are poisonous and can spin copious amounts of web to capture their targets, the ants spit acid that cause agonizing, paralyzing pain. Their masters bear down on the city in a cloud of black shadows--massive ravens strong enough to carry off adult men. There are five witches, women on broomsticks, beautiful if not for their crazed grins and obvious glee at the chaos descending upon the city. At some unknown signal--maybe the cackling from a couple of them--they dive in concert and disappear into different areas of the city.

Their masterful plan has begun!

[Leo blocks the glob with the remnants of his shovel and then suddenly dashed in with an enormous leap. He strikes after the spiders legs just when Lili attacks it from above, doing his damnest to keep it distracted from the real attacker.]

[donttelldaddy]

[The spider is outsmarted and distracted as planned, and whips its head around, gnashing at Leo. Lili still remains in control, stabbing the beast again before it can sink its teeth into him.]

[lionborn]

[He dodges with feline ease and is long out of its reach before it can reach him. The spider is obviously slowing down from it's injuries by now.]

[His wish is her command, so she jumps onto the creature and sticks the creature one more time through the eye. It falls to the ground screeching, and with a rough jerk, Lili takes the weapon out of its eye, and wipes the gore off on the spider.]

[Leo grimaces and gives the thing a kick that rolls it over to make sure that it's really dead.]

Lovely. Now all we need is a big fire and we'll have tarantula barbecue for all. [How big IS that fucking insect?]

As fantastic as that sounds, I'm not sure it's the best lunch plan.

[lionborn]

Neither am I, actually. Shall we go before its friends show up for the funeral?

[donttelldaddy]

That's a good idea. [Lili looks around, trying to judge if the route back was covered in zombies or not.] We should be quick.

[lionborn]

Yeah. [He grimaces lightly and fumbles out a new cigarette which he lights.] We can't take the route I came from. Those fucking birds keep swooping down there. I swear I only dodged one of them because it flew into a spider.

[donttelldaddy]

I watched them pick a girl up and carry her away. We need to be careful. Which way did you come from?

[lionborn]

[He grits his teeth at that for a moment, baring his fangs in an angry gesture. Gods, he'll never like death!]

I saw a couple who lost to those things too. Didn't make me want to share their fate at all. [and it made him really worried for those he knows.] This way. [He points in the direction he came from.]

[donttelldaddy]

Do you think we can go around them?

[lionborn]

[He makes an unhappy face.]

That's not very likely. IT was difficult enough getting through the first time.

[donttelldaddy]

Do you want to come back to mine instead?

[lionborn]

'Back to yours'?

[donttelldaddy]

Just the apartment.

[lionborn]

Oh. Ya think it's save to go there?

[donttelldaddy]

It'll have to be.

[lionborn]

Alright. Then let's go there.

[donttelldaddy]

[Lili walks over to Leo and holds his knife out for him.] This way.

[lionborn]

[He ignores the offer and holsters his trusty shovel.]

After you, milady. You're the scarier one out of the two of us. [and if something suddenly jumped at them all she'd have to do is to duck.]

[donttelldaddy]

[She folds the knife up and puts it in her pocket, then.]

I wouldn't go that far.

[lionborn]

[He grins, trying to remain confident despite the bad situation they are in.]

Heh~ And how far would you go?

[donttelldaddy]

[She looks back at him, an amused smile on her face.]

You could be perfectly fearsome if you wanted to. I won't tell anyone that you're secretly gentle, I promise.

[lionborn]

[He huffs and forces himself to keep smiling. Being known to have a soft core is bad enough, but his bad part... ]

You really don't want to see me like that, Lili. When I tried to kill Haru that was still the nice and fluffy version of it. Between friends.
