[Event] Invasion!
Characters: OPEN to everyone!
Location: All over Death City
Rating: Various
Time: February 2nd
Description: Witches have invaded and are attacking the city!
The attack, when it comes, happens quickly enough that Death City would have been caught flat-footed had there been no prior warning, but it's not completely unexpected because of the city's heightened state of alarm the past day. Warning sirens start sounding to alert the citizens and guests the moment a dark, slow-moving mass out in the desert to the south-east of Death City is spotted by Shibusen sentries. There's even time for civilians to run and hide before the mass is identified as an army of what looks like decaying, shambling corpses. The city's defenders are slow to move, however; most of them are distracted and are having trouble dealing with the black blood in their bodies. While agents are gathering to head out to deal with the zombie threat, that's when the witches make their move.
Portals begin opening in the skies above the city, disgorging hideous familiars: bulbous spiders and leggy ants the size of dogs. They drop hundreds of feet down into the streets and alleyways of Death City, and scuttle off in search of victims. The spiders are poisonous and can spin copious amounts of web to capture their targets, the ants spit acid that cause agonizing, paralyzing pain. Their masters bear down on the city in a cloud of black shadows--massive ravens strong enough to carry off adult men. There are five witches, women on broomsticks, beautiful if not for their crazed grins and obvious glee at the chaos descending upon the city. At some unknown signal--maybe the cackling from a couple of them--they dive in concert and disappear into different areas of the city.
Their masterful plan has begun!

"The latter. Let's try shooting our enemies before they try biting us again."
Naoto felt his nerves, but remained calm. He only needed to trust her long enough to get rid of the zombies, ants, spiders, and crows that might attempt to attack them.
no subject
"Look, I'm probably a pretty bad shot and I suck at this resonating thing too, so if things go bad I'll toss you towards a better place and you make the you get out first, okay? I'm not gonna accept a 'no' on this."
The window on the first floor of the building on the other side of the street looked promising. Taking another step back, he calculated how much speed he would need to get up there with one leap.
no subject
He didn't have to worry about his aim though. With enough resonation, she would help him aim. Zombies were easy targets and one of her bullets piercing their skulls sent them down. Ants and Spiders took longer, but enough well placed aims would disable them. As for the Crows, they had higher endurance, but enough bullets could take them down as well.
She let her soul briefly bump against his.

That said, he took another step back and then broke into a short sprint that brought them onto the street. Crossing it half, he tensed the muscles in his legs, putting all he had into them and leaped straight towards the closed window of a room on the first floor of the opposite building. Slamming the butt of the gunblade through the glass, he caught hold of the windowsill and shortly later they were inside a deserted room.
no subject
And of course his first move has to startle her. She felt herself shatter the glass and watched as Leo clambered inside. That would've been better with a small warning.
no subject
'Seems deserted. We'll go from here.' Returning to the first bureau, he barricaded the door with a chair and the took a post by the window. Hopefully it would be easier to snipe those things from up here. He flt a small shiver run down his spine at the thought. He didn't like killing, he didn't like the use of guns and he hated that he was going to have to do both if he wanted to survive.
no subject
She peered out the window, noticing the streets below still crowded with zombies bumbling about tied in with a few ants and spiders crawling around on the walls. A small twinge hit her as Leo shivered and she peered at him. "Leo, what is it?"
no subject
Forcing himself to take a deep breath, the Half leaned close to the window and took aim on his first target. The truth was that he was simply scared and slowly hitting his limit of how long he could work by just pushing it to the back of his thoughts to worry about later.

no subject
Holding on to that thought he pulled the trigger, again and again, watching heads and chests explode as the zombies went down one after another.
no subject
"... Leo, do you need to take a moment?"
no subject
'A moment? For what?'
no subject
Or he seemed to be. Maybe it would've been better if she didn't say anything.
no subject
Lowering the gunblade for a moment, he sighed. Giving her a sad smile (how he really felt, not the one with the extra quirk of lips that would turn the whole conversation into a joke), he asked, "Hey, care to share a secret? You'll have to swear by your life to keep it, though. It's pretty embarrassing."
no subject
"It wouldn't be my place to reveal your secret." Unless he was ready to publicly reveal it, she would keep it. "I swear I will not tell anyone."
no subject
He trailed off for a moment. When he started speaking again the insecurity was gone and his voice was firm. "It's making me sick." On so many ways. And he wasn't talking about something as simple as bruises.
no subject
Was that it? Leo was going through more than she first thought. Down on the street, it may be zombies, ants, and spiders with large ravens in the sky, but it was still an act of violence.
Without another word, she changed back and looked up at him, nodding. "Stay low and leave it to me then. I'll escort you to a shelter so you don't have to deal with this." Her expression remained neutral. She didn't enjoy hurting people, but in her line of duty, sometimes it was necessary. Right now, it was necessary if they wanted to survive.
no subject
"No. That's not it. I'm a Half Naoto and it's natural for Halfs to revel in that kind of thing. Me not enjoying the sound of breaking bones or an enemy going down is like..." He makes an unhappy noise. "...It's unnatural."
Pushing past her, he gave her a serious look. They had cleared some of the street, but there were still several of those monster insects around. "Change back. I might be off, but I'm still the second in command of the Jammy Angels and I'll be damned if I can't do what needs to be done. There are people out there that I need to find." So there was no way he was just going to hide and wait until this all was over.
no subject
She sighed and rubbed her temples, realizing she was lecturing on this when he still didn't know she was a girl. Still, dwelling into the explanations that would follow that revelation would waste more of their time. Naoto raised her head.
"... I'll change back for now, but if you begin feeling ill, I'll take over. I still have senpai's kunai and my gun..."
With that being said, she shifted back to her Weapon's first form.
no subject
Picking up the gunblade, he realized that the confession had actually made it feel better for him. There was a lot less rejection coming from his side than before.
"Tell me when you need a break or if you see a way for us to get out and to a better place."
no subject
Naoto's soul could resonate much better now that Leo had divulged a little more about himself and his thoughts. She still held a secret from him, but it wasn't a major negation from their connection. Perhaps she would tell him if he asked.
"I will." But for now, she was fine, her soul bringing in the surroundings sharply. Nothing to be wary of yet.
no subject
Taking aim once more, he starts sniping at their enemies again, relying on her help to land good hits. "Thanks."
no subject
"You're welcome."
