[Event] Invasion!

Characters: OPEN to everyone!
Location: All over Death City
Rating: Various
Time: February 2nd
Description: Witches have invaded and are attacking the city!

The attack, when it comes, happens quickly enough that Death City would have been caught flat-footed had there been no prior warning, but it's not completely unexpected because of the city's heightened state of alarm the past day. Warning sirens start sounding to alert the citizens and guests the moment a dark, slow-moving mass out in the desert to the south-east of Death City is spotted by Shibusen sentries. There's even time for civilians to run and hide before the mass is identified as an army of what looks like decaying, shambling corpses. The city's defenders are slow to move, however; most of them are distracted and are having trouble dealing with the black blood in their bodies. While agents are gathering to head out to deal with the zombie threat, that's when the witches make their move.

Portals begin opening in the skies above the city, disgorging hideous familiars: bulbous spiders and leggy ants the size of dogs. They drop hundreds of feet down into the streets and alleyways of Death City, and scuttle off in search of victims. The spiders are poisonous and can spin copious amounts of web to capture their targets, the ants spit acid that cause agonizing, paralyzing pain. Their masters bear down on the city in a cloud of black shadows--massive ravens strong enough to carry off adult men. There are five witches, women on broomsticks, beautiful if not for their crazed grins and obvious glee at the chaos descending upon the city. At some unknown signal--maybe the cackling from a couple of them--they dive in concert and disappear into different areas of the city.

Their masterful plan has begun!

They were far easier to take out in the manner that the human explained them as. He could see though that even 'slow and dumb' could become dangerous if their numbers became unmanageable. That was a scenario the templar was attempting to avoid.

"Fighting a Witch without a Weapon only invites a swift death," Tassadar said while swiping out to take down yet another zombie. Lurching forward, he raised his large foot to claw against another undead zombie's chest and knock it down with his weight while attacking a third. "Only those who are Deathscythe or nearing it can fight them on equal ground."

Damn it... well, he didn't expect Witches to be easy opponents, or this war would have been over all ready. Kicking her ass was out, as much as he wanted to rearrange the face of each and every one of them for everything that's happened so far.

"So we dodge the Witch," he clarified, braining yet another zombie. He grasped its arm as it fell, turned, and hurled it into an incoming group to his left. The dead weight of it sent most of them toppling, buying them a little time.

"...And see just how many zombies she's got at her beck n' call." Kanji spat to the side and charged. Everyone had limits, even Witches. There had to be a finite number of these things hanging around. If they all just worked from the residential quarters, providing shelter, and work their way outward without losing too many in the effort, they'd be find. He'd lost count of how many he'd taken out so far, and he had yet to find any of his friends, or a Weapon he could resonate with and speed up the job.

"Let's drive 'em outta this district!" ...But he wouldn't let that stop him!

Tassadar couldn't help but find himself glancing over to regard the young human at his words. There was much emotion attached to them that even he could sense them, and he knew that the terran was being honest with his declaration. It left him momentarily quiet in thought despite the fact that he was still fighting, but it wasn't as though fighting against such creatures took much thought.

"I will not fall here, but those that are attacking this city and world will fall," the templar declared before nodding his head towards the young human. While he may be questioning his involvement with the humans, he could at least agree that this threat needed to be driven out. That was why his blue eyes suddenly flashed a bright yellow moments before he leapt right back into battle.

His hulking form easily towered over the zombies filling the street, and he used his larger size as a distraction for the undead beasts to allow for the human more cover while he swiped at any within his reach.

"You hear that!? Outta the way, punks!" He crowed to the mindless masses, treating them afterward with a strong horizontal swing of the lead pipe, sending three more zombies reeling. One was kicked, the second got an elbow, and the third was given a good old-fashioned roundhouse. They were finished off with renewed vigor.

As he passed an alleyway, he checked down it, spotting telltale signs of funnel web activity: Silvery spider silk dressed the brick, but thankfully he saw no cocoons, hapless guests and citizens left to be eaten alive later.

"Spiders! Should be close!" He called, taking a zombie that was getting a little too close and, with a snarl, slammed its face as hard as he could into the brick wall of a building while another one grabbed at his jacket, shoving it off with a kick backward.

Providing cover, Tassadar's attention remained split between the enemies around them, and the human fighting just behind him. It was easy enough to do for a protoss warrior, considering he'd often commanded and mentally kept track of well over a couple hundred warriors in the past, and that capability showed as he fought back the zombie horde.

Hearing the shout out of the spider, Tassadar picked up the nearest zombie to him, and spun them both around so that he could throw the body to slam into a number of others.

"Then that creature should be taken out before continuing on with these undead foes," Tassadar said while stepping away from the floored zombies and turning his attention towards the alleyway. Chancing a quick glance over towards the young human, he checked to see whether he was in need of any assistance before making his decision to enter the alleyway.

Kanji had taken out his fair share of spiders and ants with the pipe, but he was finding that the chitin did too much damage to what precious weaponry he could find, and as much as he wanted to he couldn't very well punch them into oblivion if they damaged lead.

"Can you handle 'em? I'll keep out any chance of company!" The pathway would be narrow, but it also bottlenecked the zombies into a very doable, neat line to pummel them in. Wherever his companion was from, he looked big and more than formidable. Kanji had some confidence that spiders wouldn't be a big deal at all to him.

"They will be handled," Tassadar said in reply before he dashed off down the alleyway. He had faith that the young human could hold his own, and instead ran by the cobwebs sticking to the high walls and deeper into the area. It didn't take long for him to catch the scent of the arachnid's on the air, or much longer after that to see three completely different sets of eyes turning his way.

Eyes flashing yellow, the templar momentarily allowed his mind to touch that of the spiders as he began to build a hallucination within them. The spiders soon saw a whole horde of zerglings running alongside Tassadar as he barraged his way down the alleyway. Aiming for what they believed to be the zerglings, the spiders were in fact hitting nothing but air as the templar leapt in to slash the first one down.

He held off the horde of zombies that, just as he thought, could only come in by the threes at best of they were shoulder-to-shoulder in the narrow alleyway. It was a matter of timing the swings of the lead pipe, and knowing when to throw a punch instead.

As the zombies fell, buying Tassadar space and time, they became an obstacle for the remainder of the horde, who had to climb over and make themselves known to Kanji before they were beaten down.

He snuck a glance over his shoulder once or twice as he worked. The spiders were acting weird, hissing and flexing their fangs at the air around them, legs flailing as his companion was making short work of them.

He knew that he couldn't keep the connection with them for long, knowing that doing so would endanger not only himself, but everyone within this city. That was why he pulled his mind back from the spiders when he felt the twitch itching within his thoughts. It was how it had started the last time, but he hadn't known of that limitation when he'd first arrived.

The spiders were fortunately confused after the images of the zerglings disappeared. Tassadar took advantage of that as he slashed at the dazed and confused arachnids. The last few fell without too much effort, even if his feet had gotten caught in the sticky web.

The zombies formed a nice waist-high wall by the time the horde petered out, and he turned back to check on Tassadar. He'd wrecked the arachnids, but it looked like the webbing had caught his feet.

Kanji quickly reached into his coat pocket, and after a moment he pulled out a small knife. Typically used for cutting tougher fabrics and the like that his scissors couldn't handle, he figured it might help against the webbing.

Without thinking of whether or not this guy needed the help, he still made a dash over.

"Don't move too much, or it's gonna wrap up n' stick a lot more!" He dropped to his knees and started cutting.
