[Event] Invasion!

Characters: OPEN to everyone!
Location: All over Death City
Rating: Various
Time: February 2nd
Description: Witches have invaded and are attacking the city!

The attack, when it comes, happens quickly enough that Death City would have been caught flat-footed had there been no prior warning, but it's not completely unexpected because of the city's heightened state of alarm the past day. Warning sirens start sounding to alert the citizens and guests the moment a dark, slow-moving mass out in the desert to the south-east of Death City is spotted by Shibusen sentries. There's even time for civilians to run and hide before the mass is identified as an army of what looks like decaying, shambling corpses. The city's defenders are slow to move, however; most of them are distracted and are having trouble dealing with the black blood in their bodies. While agents are gathering to head out to deal with the zombie threat, that's when the witches make their move.

Portals begin opening in the skies above the city, disgorging hideous familiars: bulbous spiders and leggy ants the size of dogs. They drop hundreds of feet down into the streets and alleyways of Death City, and scuttle off in search of victims. The spiders are poisonous and can spin copious amounts of web to capture their targets, the ants spit acid that cause agonizing, paralyzing pain. Their masters bear down on the city in a cloud of black shadows--massive ravens strong enough to carry off adult men. There are five witches, women on broomsticks, beautiful if not for their crazed grins and obvious glee at the chaos descending upon the city. At some unknown signal--maybe the cackling from a couple of them--they dive in concert and disappear into different areas of the city.

Their masterful plan has begun!

“That’s not what I meant!” did undead even want to eat someone like… that? Who knew, but Saya didn’t want to ask about it, nor did she want to be sure if that would happen or not “There is a chance they can infect you, if they bite you.” Being big meant a lot more places to be bitten, and while she wasn’t sure if they could infect or not, Saya accepted that as a fact until proven otherwise.

[personal profile] sayatakagi 2012-03-15 09:12 am (UTC)(link)
She had perfect timing for these things, it seemed. Saya had just passed by when she noticed Leo. At first, she decided not to intervene, more out of worrying about herself than not wanting to. She was sure Leo was a big boy, he could take care of himself; if she and her friends had before, why wouldn’t Leo, who was supposedly a badass punk?

Yeah, that wasn’t very convincing, really, but she enjoys her life quite a bit too much than to risk her own neck for everyone she met.

Except she ended up doing so. When an undead walked towards Leo, she figure out why the hell her friends were so set on helping people at the worst timing. Getting out of her hiding place, a baseball bat in her hand, the girl rushed towards Leo, going from behind the walking corpses and hitting it right against the back of its head, which caused the thing to fall to the side and blood splatter on her clothes. And then, double-tap; she swung her bat again and smashed the rest of the head with a blow, to make sure it wouldn’t get up.

Her eyes moved to Leo after. “Never back yourself against a wall; you need room to move and an escape route. And keep quiet; they use their senses, especially hearing, to know where you are.”

The girl was passing by when she heard growls. For a moment, she didn’t believe it, but soon it became pretty obvious those weren’t from the ghouls, but yes from a do- wolf? Saya opened her eyes widen when she saw Amaterasu, at first a bit scared – c’mon, it’s a wolf, it’s the first time she sees one – but she came to realize the white wolf was attacking against those things.

Maybe… a guest?

Saya gripped at her bat an moved towards Amaterasu, rising her weapon to strike one of those things, and hitting it against the back of its neck, enough to stop it from moving again.

“In trouble?” a slightly amused voice came from above. And if London looked up, clawed to the wall and looking down at him there was a blue lizard humanoid. Demona. Her raid hair fell down her face, hiding her glowing red eyes. She wasn’t one bit worried about the current situation – as matter of fact, she was enjoying it quite a bit, since it meant death of humans and meant she could sit back and watch.

However, Demona still didn’t trust those Witches, and if came down to it, she’d fight them. For now, she was just moving from place to place and that’s when she found Londo.

[personal profile] pmsgargoyle 2012-03-15 09:54 am (UTC)(link)
Demona was quietly sitting atop a building, watching Aion below, angry with the situation. She had been meaning to meet those who were not humans and she had just happened to spot one who could actually fight. Never having seen Aion in person, all she knew was that there were two demon brothers, but it didn’t cross her mind this was Chrono’s brother. Their stances were completely different, after all.

The blue gargoyle waited for him to kill off the zombies before she spoke softly “They are canon-fodder. Meant to anger the fighters.” It was working, clearly.

Tassadar nodded in return to the young human's mind, and left the subject at that. There was far more that was important now, especially since the human himself stated that he was in find condition.

Nodding, Tassadar took out yet another undead human while the human spoke of the others in this city. What mental damage this might give the humans of his city, he wasn't certain, but it also wasn't his problem either. He had a war to fight, and the sooner he aided Shibusen to end it, the sooner he could return back to protect Aiur.

"These versions do not appear to be as intelligent as those I've come across in my own sector of space," Tassadar said initially as an answer. Glancing up at the ravens flying overhead, the templar said, "If these creatures are created by one of the Witches in the city, then they will not stop until she has been drawn away."

[personal profile] pmsgargoyle 2012-03-15 10:04 am (UTC)(link)
For Demona, this was truly something she was enjoying. She took no pleasure on killing the undead, the birds or the bugs, but she took pleasure of watching Humanity crumble at her feet and with foolish hope trying to bring them up again. It was perfect because she had the chance to see them fighting, only to later on imagine them crumbling. She could do whatever she wanted and would blame it on the madness; she could say whatever she wanted and simply apologize later; she could aid the Witches and after say she had been under their influence. How delightfully easy.

The blue gargoyle was gliding through air, atop of the buildings, avoid crows or even bothering to kill some. When her eyes notice someone familiar, cornered, she decided to land on top of a house. At first, she only watched and had no intention of helping Qilby. But she remembered that, in this world, there were only a few non-humans, and she shouldn’t allow them to die. Not yet.

Jumping from the building, Demona fell on the spider, the long knife she had stolen somewhere craving on the bug’s head. Her claws move to its eyes, slashing them, and with a loud roar, Demona finishes off the spider soon enough. After, she stood up, still on top of the dead arachnid, eying Qilby.

"You have proof that these creatures are bound with infection?" Tassadar asked even as he swiped out to attack a zombie nearing his position. Lurching forward, he kept his thoughts with that of the human while his large foot reached up to clamp on the zombie's chest and forced it down to the ground.

He wasn't a stranger to infection. The zerg virus wasn't discriminatory when it came to what species it wished to infect. Yet something in one world did not mean that it was the same here.

[personal profile] sayatakagi 2012-03-15 10:12 am (UTC)(link)
"I said there is a chance, not that I'm certain." Saya gripped on her bat tighter, watching the ghouls approaching and reading herself to fight them off. "I can assure you, however, I'm not willing to try that theory out."

[personal profile] pmsgargoyle 2012-03-15 10:15 am (UTC)(link)
The gargoyle was gliding through the air currents while Death City went mad. The crows were quiet easy to deal with, she believed, but that’s probably because she had wings herself. Demona simply watched from a top all that was happening and she was enjoying herself a bit too much. Humans in panic, frantically trying to fight off, but specially, dying. It was delightful to say the least.

Demona decided to land at the park. With her, she had a long knife she had stolen somewhere, but it was simply to fending off those who attacked her. She had no intentions of being the one attacking. That was when her eyes met Teresa. The woman gave her a strange vibe, almost inhuman if she could call it that, but it was that smile that made it very different.

His mind is always on the important stuff ;D

"You don't have one? I can't be really dangerous here without one if you come across any Witches or Kishin Eggs," Yuuri muttered to the wolf. The fact that he was talking to a large canine didn't bother him in the slightest, it didn't even strike him as odd, but he wanted to help despite the situation.

"Well I can stay with you until we've saved the city! That way we can both watch out for each other," the young King said with a large grin. That sounded like a great idea in his mind! If they ran into Teresa along the way, then that would be even better since they could all help to protect each other.

There was no place like home, Demona agreed, but home no longer had this. She didn’t particularly like it for it only reinforced her idea that humans are creatures meant for destruction and nothing else, but she was enjoying it for humans were being attacked, injured and killed. She had no hand in this whatsoever, but she thanked those who had made it possible.

Demona was atop of a building, watching quietly. If one would look up would see the blue gargoyle, but would probably miss that delighted smile. After, she moved from her spot, gliding through the air to land at a fire escape and watch closer. She would blame the madness if anyone happened to see her intently watching humans being killed or begging for help while she did nothing. However, the spiders, ants, crows and zombies weren’t particularly selective. From time to time, she did have to get her claws dirty and with a long knife in her hand, she’d kill those who dared to attack her.

He couldn't help but watch in amazement as the spider fell down to the ground twitching. It had all happened so quickly, and the young Maou stood there in awe. Kenshin was looking pretty cool! Nodding his head, his eyes were wide with excitement as he smiled brightly.

"Mmmhm I am! Thank you for your help," Yuuri said before he peered at Kenshin and asked, "You haven't been hurt anywhere or anything?"

Leeeeoooooo T3T

Yuuri was crying out in alarm while the spider was pulling him in. It all happened so quickly, and before he knew it, there was someone else yelling and jumping in while attacking the spider. Flailing himself around to see just who it was, he felt his eyes widen in surprise as Leo was attacking the giant spider from above.

"Leo!" The young Maou called out. Moving to get up, he'd momentarily forgotten that his legs were still boud - a forgetfullness that caused Yuuri to stumble before he reached down to pull at the sticky threads. It took him a moment to remember that he was a Weapon with a partial form, but when he did, Yuuri reached down to cut the web before he finally managed to stand.

The wound he'd sustained was considered as nothing more than a mere scratch in his mind. To be half-gutted would be a situation similar to when Cloud had almost cleaved his torso in two and even then he continued on with his goal. He didn't bother to dignify her assumptions with an answer, and he simply grunted in reply while he sliced at the zombie with his partial form.

It might have been strange that he was using his partial form, considering that there was a long katana strapped to Sephiroth's back, but Sephiroth kept the blade pristinely on his back. He couldn't bring himself to dirty the solid weapon on his back without reason, which was why it remained where it was.

Sephiroth didn't miss the fact that a number of spiders began to crawl out from within the alleyways surrounding them. Back tensing, the ex-General forced his body to move faster while he attempted to take out as many as he could.

[personal profile] pure_lineage 2012-03-15 11:06 am (UTC)(link)
[He had destroyed the zombie without caring for any other that was in the area. It appeared as though most humans wanted to believe in something foolish. It may be odd to Colette that there was a katana strapped to Sephiroth's back, but the ex-General left it there while he fought with his partial form.]

You are a fool to have stepped out into the open without a weapon.

[personal profile] pawned 2012-03-15 11:07 am (UTC)(link)
Itou should have stayed in his apartment this morning and avoided this entire thing. There had been no pressing reason to leave his bed before dawn, except a particularly obsessive need to train himself hard everyday before the rest of the trainees crowded the part. His drive had been the death of him before, and now he was wondering if it was going to be the death of him again.

It had taken him no more than half an hour to walk to the park this morning, and it was taking him more than thrice that to creep back to the Communal. He wasn't even sure if the other Shinsengumi were still there. Itou hadn't let go of his knife long enough to thumb through the communicator.

Would be easier if he had both hands, he griped to himself, slipping out of the building he had taken momentary shelter in down to an alley. It was a bad idea to be in such an enclosed space, but he had to avoid the birds somehow. Itou came to the end of the alley and crouched down, looking left and right at the street.

"Aaa--" Bakura skidded a bit to a halt before hurrying over, looking anxiously over his shoulder to make sure nothing was just behind him. "What is it? What happened?" Had someone already been attacked?! Not good!

[personal profile] pure_lineage 2012-03-15 11:15 am (UTC)(link)
The spider reeled back when Sephiroth slashed out towards it. Smirking in satisfaction as the beast screeched out in pain, the ex-General didn't hesitate in leaping forward to push the creature back as once the fangs were removed, Sephiroth began slicing off whatever leg his bladed form could come into contact with. It may have looked odd if it had just been the partial form that Sephiroth fought with, but there was a pristine katana strapped to the ex-General's back and left untouched as he fought.

It didn't take long for the spider to fall. Eyes narrowed, he watched with that same sense of enjoyment as he took the spider's life and watched as it finally stopped twitching. There was some form of bumbling being spoken behind him, but he paid it little mind as he pulled his bladed arm out of the creature's skull. Turning to face the aging man, his cat-like pupils thinned at the mention of his wound before he grunted dismissively.

"If you cannot fight, then you should not be out here," Sephiroth simply said. He didn't care if this man lived or died, if he was to be honest with himself, but what he did care about was detracting attention away from the wound hidden by his jacket - even if the blood staining down his side was more than enough of a giveaway.

He had remained in his weapon form even after Cloud had defeated the creatures that had attacked him. They had been no threat in regards to their skills, but even he knew that if their numbers were large enough, that even they would have some difficulties destroying them all. Yet as they began to descent the stairs, Sephiroth didn't miss the growing presence of the remaining Remnant within this city.

If Kadaj had any survival instincts, the Remnant never would have approached them, but it appeared as though the youngest wished nothing more to tempt fate. He didn't transform back into his regular body, the ex-General uncertain what would happen if he did, but the fact that he remained as the sword didn't stop him from quietly listening to the conversation at hand.

If he had been in his body form, all of the muscles along his back would have tensed at the information Kadaj gave. Given the mocking tone, there was no doubt that whatever Kadaj had done had been something to attempt tormenting his Meister with.

Hisoka caught the hand in his own, entwining his fingers it the rotting ones of the amputated hand. It strained, its claws digging into the back of Hisoka's hand and drawing blood. Hisoka slowly crushed the bones before tossing the mangled mess to the side.

"Where's the fun in that?" he answered casually, kicking away another zombie who was getting a little too close.

She barked because, yup, she knew that. Amaterasu scratched the fur on her neck, but then paused. Ah, he would like to partner up with her temporarily? She grinned and nodded. That sounded like a plant to her; though, would they be able to resonate? He had to be a bladed weapon of some kind, yes?

"My injuries are... Fine." They weren't completely healed, that's for sure, but she certainly wasn't going to complain about that right now. Her shoulder was her main concern, the kick bak from the rifle in her hand, after all, was enough to jar her and that would, most likely, be pretty painful. But a little shoulder pain, versus sitting somewhere and hoping for the best?

She'd take the pain, thank you.

"But my shoulder is the least of my worries right now."

"Scared is an overstatement." Except not really, but Re-l wasn't really going to stretch and tell him that, thanks very much. She turns to look around her, over her shoulder, making sure nothing had snuck up behind them in even these spare few seconds.

"But this isn't really the time to introduce yourself abruptly." A small pause, and then it seems she decides to cut to the chase, so to speak.

"Are you out here by yourself?"

[Twisting to the side to avoid the charge of a spider, he brought the katana around to slice through one of eight legs. It hissed but he was already lifting the sword and driving it through the creature's skull and and ending its aggressive assault to leave it a twitching husk on the ground.

He withdrew the blade, hearing her before he saw her, but Cloud immediately turned to look towards the call of his name. He took a step towards her and paused as he sighted the various points of bandaging on her exposed skin. He drank it all in as she closed the distance, a frown appearing between his eyebrows.]

He did a number on you.
