The oh-so-OPEN housewarming party assault log
Characters: Karkat, Gai, and anyone and everyone who drops by!
Location: Karkat's new 'hivething.'
Rating: PG?
Time: Afternoon
Description: Karkat is moving. Gai wants to cheer up his perpetually grumpy friend. Anyone can have seen Gai's post on the network and drop by.
It didn't take many stealth skills at all to plan this party. The filters on the devices made things very easy, and with the labor as greatly divided as it was Gai didn't even have to haul a whole bunch of stuff to where Karkat would be moving in.
Picking the lock was the work of moments and then Gai was in the apartment, starting to set up. Soon others would join him to help prepare, and hopefully Karkat would be slow enough in returning that he would only come when everything was ready. Gai would hope, at least.
[ooc: Feel free to set up more headers/threads than the three I've put here for convenience!]

Is this sort of thing customary? I do not see the reasoning for it in the least.

I guess they're supposed to be... congratulating us on the new hive? I don't really get it either, it's just a hive and I barely know half these people.

[he folds his arms and scans the party. there's... kind of a lot of people here.]
It must be a human thing. Every minor accomplishment deserves notes and parties and pastries.

It is not unreasonable if they overstay their welcome. However, we may have to ask someone else to take our shift tonight. [These people shouldn't let themselves out as well.]
no subject
You think they'll be here past midnight?

No... I know, you're right, these idiots showed up because that's just what humans do, right? Any dumbass excuse to overeat and make a fucking racket.
[he's still not comfortable with being most of the reason for the celebration, clearly.]

I see no harm in allowing them to continue, and I assume it will not happen again. We are simply going to have to learn human customs through experience, I think.

Yeah, I'm kind of amazed. Even Sollux showed up for a little while, and you can't pry that moody bastard out of his hive with a fucking crowbar half the time!

[Karkat gestures vaguely at the other trolls as they mingle and pester and hide as they do. suddenly he's having a really hard time being mad, what the hell is this emotion, it's unfamiliar and strange and kind of pissing him off.]

I wonder if we are expected to thank them for attending. Even if we did not invite them.
no subject
Hell no I'm not thanking them! I didn't kick their sorry asses out through the damn window, that's all the thank you they get.
no subject
Very well. [It... almost sounds like she was laughing when she said that. Almost.] We will simply wait them out, then.
