The oh-so-OPEN housewarming party assault log

Characters: Karkat, Gai, and anyone and everyone who drops by!
Location: Karkat's new 'hivething.'

Time: Afternoon
Description: Karkat is moving. Gai wants to cheer up his perpetually grumpy friend. Anyone can have seen Gai's post on the network and drop by.

It didn't take many stealth skills at all to plan this party. The filters on the devices made things very easy, and with the labor as greatly divided as it was Gai didn't even have to haul a whole bunch of stuff to where Karkat would be moving in.

Picking the lock was the work of moments and then Gai was in the apartment, starting to set up. Soon others would join him to help prepare, and hopefully Karkat would be slow enough in returning that he would only come when everything was ready. Gai would hope, at least.

Gai's very glad he's wearing sandals as usual when Chesire starts running through feet, and rescued a balloon. "The balloons are for everyone. If you can refrain from popping more here, I can blow some up for you alone at another time that you can pop. Please?"

[Cheshire batted at the ribbon as the balloon was saved from his claws. His tail lashed about but he kept on smiling up at Gai. He nodded]

They're not about to pull a Cheshire!

[Gai tilted his head, a bit confused. At least he'd gotten a nod. Gai releases the balloon.]

Pull a what?

At home I'm known for leaving just my smile.

[Cheshire keeps grinning up at him, sorely wishing that he could show the technique. He had found while training with Vriska that doing that as a blade felt much the same as it did at home. It was unfortunate that it was limited to when he was transformed.]

And that means you are pulling a Cheshire? Your smile is a Cheshire, or it is a technique named after a Cheshire?

[That... made no sense, but Gai was slowly getting used to things sometimes not making sense as he determined it.]

All, since I'm a Cheshire cat!

[Most of this place made no sense to Cheshire, so they're on even playing field. Well, nearly. Cheshire might have gotten a bit more used to it.]

[Gai tilted his head, wondering if maybe he now understood.]

So you named a technique after a habit of yours?

I don't often give names, I just get them.

[He's just saying what people call it. He would say he calls it disappearing, even if he did just call it a Cheshire.]

[Nope, still confused.]

Are you saying that Cheshire is not actually your name?

If it isn't I have no name! Unless you want to give me a new one?

Give you... a...

[Gai shakes his head after a moment.]

I do not know you well enough to do anything of the sort. Cheshire is a good name, too.

[The cat only kept on grinning, showing no change on the denial to give him another name, though his words almost sounded as if he might as well have shrugged.]

The Duchess didn't know me at all! I think I would much rather be a Cheshire cat than a cat.

What Duchess? What is a Duchess? And I think Cheshire cats are likely better than normal cats. But I have not dealt a lot with cats lately. Turtles and dogs are what I know the most.

Something like a Queen, but closer rank to a Knight, with a bit of a piglet.

With a... a... [Gai shakes his head.] You are making things up now. People do not have piglet to them.

Oh, but her babies often turn into piglets and run away from the nursemaid! Unsurprising how they eat.

People do not turn into pigs. People are people and pigs are pigs. They can make themselves look like pigs if they are trained, but... [His voice trails off. There are different worlds. Is he so sure?] How would a babie be able to do something like that?

[Cheshire looks surprised.] They don't ever here?

[...Maybe Cheshire wasn't teasing him. Though maybe he still was. Gai wasn't sure.] They do not. Not here or in my world.

[Death City is weird.] How?

How? How do they change in the first place? People are... people.

People are always changing! Some people change clothes, some people change form. It's a shame no one ever really changes.

People grow and change! But people do not change forms in my world. Only here have I seen anything like that, changing into Weapons. But never into an animal!

Weird!

People don't grow or change where I'm from!

I thought you said that they changed in your world! Into pigs and things! And how can people not grow? Everything living grows!
