“I am very sorry to hear that, Tassadar,” he offered kindly, patting the alien’s shoulder with a hand before he was making his way in a circle around him to inspect everywhere else. “I would suppose that is similar to how the countries feel, after a fashion. I have been told that they are also cut from their people and lands. A conversation with them would not be amiss, if it helps you find a clue in how your own world fares without you.” Tassadar’s lands were in the middle of a war, if he remembered correctly (and he often did). It was not a situation he would care to be in.

"It appears to be yet another challenge to over come," Tassadar murmured while pulling from his thoughts at the odd presence of Watson's hand on his shoulder. It was a gesture that he was unaccustomed to given that it was rare that the Protoss showed such a thing among each other, but he spoke nothing of his thoughts as Watson inspected his healing injuries.

"While I hold concern for the welfare of my people, it is the silence within my mind that I find most difficult," He thoughtfully admitted while his softly burning gaze remained fixated on the doctor, "As for Aiur--" There was a momentary pause as his mind drifted back to his beloved homeworld, "--I hold faith in my comrades continuing the fight in my absence."

Tassadar knew well his fate, and that whether he was here or back on Aiur... Zeratul, Raynor and the others would still be fighting the battle without him. The templar only hoped that he'd managed to destroy the vile Overmind in his efforts.

"Then..." He thought about a possible solution to it, something that could alleviate Tassadar's suffering in any way however capable the alien was of adjusting to it on his own. "Then perhaps you need to fill it with other noise. Like the radio and conversation."

Not a very good solution, certainly, but companionship was the most he could offer on such short notice. That, and his services. Quickly, he returned to his examination, though he was finding nothing of particular significance.

Radio? Yes he had heard of such a thing during the quiet moments of the war against the Zerg. A number of Raynor's men had made mention of it from time to time, but the templar had never once asked further on it.

"I have come to find Nataku's voice and presence of great comfort when we have merged as one," Tassadar admitted after a moment of thought. Of course, that drew his mind back to what had happened throughout the battle, and regardless of the fact that Watson was still examining him, the High Templar pushed himself back up to stand.

He had allowed for too long of a distraction from his meditation, and while he wished not to alarm the doctor in any manner, Tassadar felt as though his time was better spent reflecting on what had happened. It was something that he could not allow to occur again.

The yellow glow overtook the gentle blue gaze as he fixated Watson with his gaze, "If there is no further need Doctor John Watson, then I will take my leave."
stalwartcane: (but you see)

[personal profile] stalwartcane 2010-08-02 03:13 pm (UTC)(link)
"Merged as one? Do you mean in resonance? Is it similar, then...?" Ah, that did remind him, of Nataku speaking about abandonment and the like. It was not like Tassadar to do such a thing, Watson knew, so perhaps something had happened on the field that led to their injuries? "Would you mind telling me what happened during the mission, my friend?"

And of course, while Tassadar could leave already, Watson hoped that he wouldn't just yet.

[identity profile] aiursfavoredson.livejournal.com 2010-08-02 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Resonance. Yes, that seemed to be the term they used here, and it was with that knowledge that Tassadar inclined his head. "While we resonate, his mind, and those surrounding us, is open to my own," Tassadar offered before he fell momentarily silent at the following question.

He shifted his large frame in preparation to leave until that final question emerged. It was something he had found himself wanting to avoid until he'd had the proper time to consider what had happened, and yet he knew well what happened when information was kept from others.

There was nothing but silence for a long while before the yellow of Tassadar's eyes shifted back to blue. "My thoughts touched that of the enemy surrounding us," He murmured before taking a moment to collect his thoughts, "And in doing so, my mind became unwillingly consumed by the same hunger and thirst for destruction they craved."
stalwartcane: (surely you jest!)

“My dear!” he exclaimed, horrorstruck at the implication of the matter. That Tassadar had accidentally connected with the monster in such a manner, had his mind invaded by such… Watson could not fathom it, but knew that it was a terrible thing indeed. “And you are all right now? Is that why your link with Nataku had become cut off, then?”

It was unimaginable, to have in one’s minds the thought so of such reprehensible beings. Watson had met one and was of the opinion that the sole meeting would last him a lifetime. It was not unlike staring a savage Afghan equipped with a jezail gun in the face and understanding its craving for blood. Or so he thought.

Tassadar could see the reaction his words had on the doctor, and he was hardly surprised. It had been a disconcerting experience, and one he never wanted to have repeated. His actions had lead to the defeat of the kishin eggs surrounding them, but it had come at too high of a cost in his opinion.

"There appear to be no lingering effects on my mind," The templar murmured, but despite knowing that, the incident had left the warrior somewhat shaken. His mental powers were racial, and to hold no such control over something that came natural to his people was troubling.

"It is, yes," He inclined his head in regards to the second question before elaborating, "We had become surrounded by the enemy, and so I used my ability to project images into the creature's mind in order to distract them. I did not count on the mental link being both ways, and thus my mind became unavoidably connected with their own."

Taking a moment to collect his thoughts, the high templar debated the wisdom in continuing with what he'd been able to deduce. Yet it was the possibility of such a thing occurring again that eventually forced Tassadar to continue, "I found my mind lost within their own carnivorous thoughts that I could hear no longer hear Nataku's voice. It was only through the kishin egg's demise that the link was finally broken."

"I do hope that you do not have any plans of repeating that experiment in the future," he intoned weakly, wondering why he was surrounded by people who did insane things, if not always deliberately.

"But now I can see what Nataku was speaking of. Does he understand what had occurred, and that you did not leave him of your own accord?" Misunderstandings among partners did not seem very productive, especially in a war like this.

[identity profile] aiursfavoredson.livejournal.com 2010-08-09 01:18 pm (UTC)(link)
While he could understand the concern Watson had over the experience, Tassadar would do what was necessary if it helped to end this war. "If such an action is necessary, I will do what needs to be done," He said without any shadow of a doubt.

The mention of Nataku's reaction caused the templar to fall thoughtfully silent. "I have yet to inform him of what had occurred," Tassadar admitted before focusing his glowing blue gaze on the doctor, "I need further meditation on the matter before I bring my findings to Nataku's attention. I cannot divulge information on what I do not yet understand myself."
stalwartcane: (a fool's thought)

[personal profile] stalwartcane 2010-08-10 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
“Were you able to affect them, then,” he inquired with something akin to disapproval in his tone, “When you linked with the beasts, were you able to distract them in any sufficient manner that rendered your suffering worth the results?”

This, he could speak of, even for himself. “Some information is always better than nothing, if it can assuage his insecurities.” He had to suffer from Holmes’ secrets, himself, even if Holmes had insisted they were done in his best interests. Surely this did not reach the scale as, say, making him believe his closest friend was dead for three years, but the sentiments were shared.

[identity profile] aiursfavoredson.livejournal.com 2010-08-12 03:26 pm (UTC)(link)
He heard the disapproval in Watson's tone, but it was hardly the first time Tassadar had been on the receiving end of such a thing. The Conclave had used similar tactics in an attempt to cease his involvement with the Dark Templar. If he had obeyed their requests in the past, he never would have learnt the necessary skills needed to destroy the Overmind. This was the same thought he held towards his actions here. "One became sufficiently distracted by the invasion of images within their mind."

Tassadar tilted his head curiously at Watson's next words. There seemed to be some level of honesty held within that the Protoss found his mind churning over the information. There was logic behind the doctors reasoning, and with a subtle incline of his head, Tassadar murmured, "Then I shall inform him the next time our paths cross."
stalwartcane: (ah-- how embarrassing)

How is that a surprised face?!

"That is very good, then," he said in relief to the last statement, but otherwise opted to withhold comment on the first. He was not to say what means these warriors for Shibusen could use to do their work, but if Tassadar was certain of what he was doing, then Watson would only stand back and support from the side.

"I would suppose we are done here, if you do not have any other pains to show me." Mildly awkward. "Do forgive me for being too forward with you this entire time, Tassadar."

His eyes look wide! >_> it is because I say so? Geez, Yukeh, get with the program XDDD

[identity profile] aiursfavoredson.livejournal.com 2010-08-21 01:20 pm (UTC)(link)
If Tassadar sensed the awkward tone, he didn't show any reaction to it. "There is nothing you have done that requires forgiveness," the templar offered dismissively before he pushed his large form back up to stand. His wounds would be completely healed within a day or so, and they would do little to bother him until then.

"I thank you for your assistance," he said before moving to pull away.
