The Clinic is a fairly large, several rooms with a number of beds partitioned by curtains your muses can open or close as they see fit.

[Upon returning to the city and learning about the... frog attack, Al's priorities were simple: head to the clinic and make sure Ed and Winry were both still in one piece and worry about everything else later.

He made his way into the building, unsurprised and yet still a bit uncomfortable by the number of patients that were gathered there. There wasn't much hope for privacy, but at least he'd be able to find out just how much his brother had been downplaying his injuries.]

[Ed had totally not been downplaying at all. Al is just paranoid.

But he perks when he sees Al, waving him over. And looking him over - it's with some relief that he sees that Al seems fine.]

[Al's thoughts are actually pretty parallel to Ed's--years of dealing with a brother like him have given Al a rather high tolerance for what he considers to be serious injuries. Ed's hurt, but it's obviously not as bad as it could be, and that in itself is a big relief.

Al walks over and takes a seat beside the bed, shaking his head at the absurdity of the whole situation. Killer frogs.]

How are you feeling?

I feel fine.

[He can't help but sound petulant. He totally was, but even with that he had Winry forcing him to stay in the clinic.]

[Al crosses his arms and regards Ed skeptically.]

Winry wouldn't waste the time and resources to keep you here if you were fine. What happened, Brother?

[How to say this.]

The damn frogs had fangs.

[Thinking back to the poor apartment.]

...Yeah, I noticed that. How badly did you get bitten?

Not too badly. I let my guard down for a second and one took advantage of it.

Do you know how long Winry plans to make you stay here?

She doesn't tell me a damn thing!

[just calls him an idiot]

[That's almost funny.]

She's probably angry with you for making her worry. You should have been more careful, Brother.

[sjdfkl he didn't mean to make her worry - but he can't argue any of that, so he crosses his arms and leans back on his pillows.]

How was the mission?

[Al sighs, suitably distracted.]

The woman was found and everyone made it back alive, so I'd say it went a lot better than it could've.

[He starts to add something else and then just averts his gaze, clearly troubled.]

[Al's wording by itself pings Ed, but the way he's acting tells him that something's definitely up]

What happened?

It... Everyone always talks about how we're fighting a war here, but this is the first time there's really been a battle like this. Both sides were trying as hard as they could to kill each other.

[And this is only the beginning; a small skirmish where they'd gotten off relatively easy and barely had to face any witches. What does it say for how the rest of this is going to go?]

[He really hates that Al had to go into that alone, partner or no]

...Yeah.

At least back home we had a goal, we knew what we had to do. Here... Are we really supposed to just keep fighting like this until enough of the witches are gone?

[It was never supposed to be like this, but was anything? There was a reason he'd always said no when Al suggested getting licensed, and it wasn't just because of what the Colonel had said. Human weapon. There was too much of a risk that, well - something like this would happen.

He reaches out, resting a hand on the armor.]

Sorry you had to do that alone, Al.

[It makes Al feel a lot better just to know that Ed understands; part of what's troubling him is how eager many of the other new arrivals are to throw themselves full force into a war that isn't even their own.

He looks up after Ed speaks, forcing the sadness from his voice.]

It's okay. I wasn't alone. Badou helped a lot--his weapon form has the ability to knock the kishin eggs out without really hurting them.

...I'm just not sure what we're going to do next. It really feels like we're in way over our heads here.

He does? [Al had said that his 'artillery' was different, but this is a lot more different than he'd been expecting.] I guess there really might be something to this resonation thing.

[because could that really be coincidence?

At the last part Al says, he smacks the armor gently, letting his hand drop]

So, we'll figure it out.

[Al nods. It's not going to be that simple, but they still have to try, don't they?]

Yeah... Thanks.

[He nods.]

I'll be there with you next time.

[With complete conviction.]

[It would have only been worse with both of them there, but Al knows better than to outright argue. He'd never consent to sitting out either.]

I'm actually glad you stayed behind. ...Not that things ended up being that much safer here in the city.

Yeah.

[He's not so much thinking of the frogs as he is the witch, that Crane escaped - and, again, that everything they'd be fighting had just been a decoy.]

The frogs were mostly just annoying.
