The barn that was the clinic had thankfully been spared any major damage, and apart from its furniture and supplies in disarray, it seemed to function without much difficulty. There was the pervading stench of chemical in the air due to broken bottles of medicine, but the open windows would soon deal with that. More importantly, the clinic was ready for its slew of patients, and bustled with its business more than ever.

[Mary returns to the nurses station, looking rather worn. She sits down in the chair with a bit of a smile at the beautiful wolf. She had seen her around, working like any other person here, or else Mary might have been a little afraid. So close to her, she realized that there was nothing for her to be afraid of.]

It has been quite the day, hasn't it? [She wondered if the wolf could talk, though she had once met a talking, pastel coloured pony.]

[When she's spoken to, her ears flick and she looks back at Mary. She nods once; it has been busy, but there's still work to be done.]

[Mary smiles a bit wider,] At least is seems that fewer people have been coming in. I'm glad that it seems no one has died in the earthquake.

[A nod in agreement, but they would be impaired slightly what with all the patients.]

You work here, don't you? [Mary couldn't help but be curious how the wolf managed.] I was a little surprised to see a wolf working here, but I suppose, considering this place, it isn't terribly strange. Are you a nurse where you come from? [She was still curious to see if the wolf could speak.]

[How is this surprising? Though, maybe it's weird for animals to work like this. At the question, there's a head shake. Nope, she was not a nurse back home.]

... Can you speak? Like I do, I mean. [Her curiosity finally overtook her sense of how proper and polite she should be.]

[That only gets a head tilt. No she cannot.]

I guess not... But you can definitely understand me! [She smiles brightly at the wolf.] I never thought I would meet people who are as intelligent as humans, or even more intelligent, but look similar to animals of my world! It's like a real-life fairy tale!

[Okay, she kinda has to... stick her tongue out at that one. Animals can always understand humans; don't be silly.]
