EVENT: Retake the City

Description: There are Kishin eggs in the city. Like, everywhere. They've pretty much taken over and we can't have that, now can we?

Early in the morning, the sandstorm finally began to fade. By noon, it was gone completely, leaving behind far too much sand for comfort. The city is not in the best shape, having taken damage from the elements as well as the Kishin Eggs that are crawling all over the place, who seem to have made this place a new home.

They could move under the sand (and were quite fast when they did) and the fact that apart from their mouth the rest of their orifices was quite small it's clear that they were built to move like that. There's also the pesky fact that the city has buildings and alley ways they can hide in. The fact that Death City is layered like a cake is also a problem as it creates a lot of place for an enemy to jump down and ambush unsuspecting victims.

Of course, it's easy enough to repay in kind.

Either way, the familiar streets of Death City is now a battleground and the objective? Take back the city.

Landing on the roof, she rose to her feet, placing a hand on her hip. Yesterday was a bust... two fools in the storm impeding her from finishing off that Kishin egg. It got away, bleeding, but she doubted it was gone completely. Now with the sand down, there were plenty of eggs exposed crawling through the city. Well, they couldn't have that now.

Head turning, she blinked, spotting the trail of black-red blood. Springing down, Valentine moved swiftly, darting after it. She wouldn't let it out of her sight and any egg in her way would suffer. Unless she came across a Weapon, she would find a way to make it die.

Sugata was starting to worry. He hadn't expected Firecracker to run off this far. Thankfully the storm was practically done and over with, but still. He needed to get find Takuto's dog and get back to the apartment. While he could transform into his weapon form for protection, the dog was practically defenseless.

"Where are you, Firecracker?"

Valentine scowled as her path was crossed by another egg. It was scaled, built for the sand like the others were. What animal form was it, she could guess, but it wasn't any of her busin--

Immediately, she changed course and hit the ground running. Her hand shot out to pull Sugata out of the way, letting the egg barrel into the building ahead. It halted and uncurled, grumbling in annoyance. Sounded quite annoyed to miss its target.

"A fine place to run into you, Sugata."

His reaction time might be a little off, and it's pretty evident with the way he didn't know that there was something coming after him. But he's very appreciative when Valentine pulled him out of the way. A little startled, but still, very thankful. He gives her a meek smile.

"Yes."

[ooc | okok so, change in plan. sugata is still looking for a pet. but instead of it being takuto's dog firecracker, it's his own kitty, jasper.]

This boy was going to get killed one day, be on accident or simply wrong place wrong time. Scowling slightly, she was about to see what he was doing outside without a Meister right now, but the egg seemed to be charging up again.

"Hmph, transforming my be in your best interest right now."

[OOC: Alright~]

He gives an exhausted sigh as he nods his head. There would literally be no use arguing with her, especially with the egg charging up behind them. So he forces whatever concentration he has left on transforming into his weapon form.

Tantou in hand, Valentine moves swiftly around the egg as it rolls by again, turning much more sharply with the open space. She springs over it, flipping back onto her feet and stands with Sugata at the ready, blade glinting. Eventually it will have to come out of that ball.

"What are you doing out here?"

Shifting her position, she dodges once more and lets the egg ram itself into another building. Sand tumbles off the roof and buries it.

How sad. Now if only it could stay buried underneath that sand forever. That would surely be nice. Asking for too much, maybe. But nice nonetheless.

My cat ran away. Again.

It would be convenient. Valentine drops and then springs, landing on the awning to bound onto the roof. Sound was muffled in the sand fortunately. When the kishin egg emerged, it was thoroughly befuddled and remained uncurled.

"That's typical behavior. Worried that a kishin egg might attack it?"

She leaps from the roof and grabs the egg from behind. Grabbing it firmly, she slices into its throat with the tantou, dragging it deep enough and kicking it away before it can scratch her too much.

That or it getting forever lost in the city once again. Not that he didn't have any faith in his cat. Jasper probably knew more about the city's layout than he did, but it was still a thought that was on his mind. He only just rescued it a couple of weeks ago, it would be horrible if he lost it already.

He makes sure not to pay too much attention to the way he's slicing through the egg's throat. Though he's glad that it's the egg than himself that's getting sliced and diced.

Her arms are scratched up, but Valentine's good overall. Cleaning Sugata's blade on her uniform as the soul appears, she sighs. Worrying about a cat was pointless in her opinion. Felines were domestic hunters; they could manage without human intervention. Still, this could be in her benefit.

"How about this? I'm tracking a Kishin egg right now which shouldn't be too difficult considering it has wounds it cannot regenerate... Help me finish it off and I'll help you find this cat."

He weighs his options carefully. Though really he'd rather not leave her completely defenseless, so of course he's going to partner up with her. Even if he is a little exhausted. Exhaustion is something he can definitely soldier on through. Up to a point at least, but he'll cross that bridge when he gets to it. Also, having two sets of eyes helping out would definitely be better and faster than only having one.

Sounds good to me.

Perfect. It wasn't too bad of a deal to strike. More in his favor anyway with the egg already wounded. She grabbed the soul and brought it to the blade for him to collect. An inconvenient thing for him was that resonance revealed his condition.

While curious about his exhaustion, the only way he was going to rest was if they hurried.

"Don't fall asleep on me."

Valentine takes off once the soul is good and gone, rushing up onto the roofs again and springing from building to building. It's merely parkour for now, plain and simple mixed with her somewhat flash-step agility. They would find the little kitten and egg soon enough.

It's a good deal and he'd be foolish enough to refuse it! It also helped that he worked relatively well with Valentine, too. So he didn't have to worry about trying to work together with a new meister.

I'm going to try not to. And he really means it. And with that he prepares for another attack.

Strange that they were compatible with each other. Still, it was pleasant to have someone who would cooperate and not ask question... even if him being a teenager still bothered her.

"Good. Need you to stay sharp..." There's still shifting sands and now she has to keep an eye on someone trying to 'command' her district. Really...

{OOC: It's alright! I wanted to ask you anyway if you wouldn't mind tagging Akiha and Sion at the top.}

He admired her work ethic? And he really wasn't in any position to judge how she handled certain things, since he was no better.

Right, of course. Ask and you shall receive, etc. etc. Though, it'd be really embarrassing if he did conk out during this. And the last thing he doesn't want is for that to happen. Not that Valentine couldn't handle herself, but... he'd still feel bad.

A past she wasn't going to ask about. As long as they could work together, that was the important thing.

It would be interesting if he did suddenly fall asleep. Would he fall out of his Weapon form or stay in it? Something to experiment with later. About to spring over another roof, she spotted two people in her district. "Hm..."

Could that be Akiha Tohno that Auron told her to lend a hand to?
