[Mission 246]
Characters:: Neji, Lee
Location:: Hong Kong, China
Rating: PG-13
Time: September 16th, afternoon
Description: First, Kishin Eggs, then investigations
[It's a good place to start as any- densely populated, if not one of the most populated cities in the country. It's an important and influential center, and recently had become home to a Kishin Egg terrorizing people on the subway.
But what strikes him as they step out of the mirror is the incredible swath of immensely tall buildings, transforming the landscape into a series of large, vertical structures that seem to reach up to the sky. It's not a new concept in this world, but there are just so many of them that it's slightly intimidating to walk under the long shadows and narrow streets.
And the air quality is terrible. A lifetime of living surrounded by lush forest, then a year in the arid desert air, and the smog is choking in ways even Madness wavelength had never been. Neji breathes a mild cough into his sleeve, activates Clairvoyance for a pinpoint location on the transportation system]
I hope all Chinese cities aren't like this.

I hope all Chinese cities aren't like this.

Well, from the look of the map, the countryside is large so we should probably attempt some more rural relaxation when we are not working.
[Perhaps some training in the mountains together. But that wasn't a priority right now.]
Notice anything yet?
no subject
Because Clairvoyance shows him just how many people are about, and sections of buildings built so closely together that climbing out of one window and into the next adjacent building would be no hardship. But he pulls his vision away from that, searching for the telltale, winding tracks of a train system, and follows it to what looks like a central hub.
He pulls them down a narrower side street to avoid a crowd of people passing by]
The Kishin Egg is said to appear at night a few hours before the trains go down for maintenance. The rail system is fairly extensive however, so we'll need to speak with the staff and sort out a central location to watch from. They have their own surveillance system, so we just need to be able to travel quickly to wherever the next attack happens, ask if there are any patterns and such..
[As for general investigation, he has little idea of where to start, but he hopes that this mission will give them some insight into that before they start trawling the lowest and dirtiest sections of the city for leads]
no subject
We could kill two birds if you wanted to go over the surveillance and have me asking questions. Get as much information as possible from as many people as we can.
[Just giving a suggestion.]
no subject
We could do that. Since I can establish distance resonance with you, I can direct you if you get lost, so long as you remain within my visual radius..
[He doesn't quite relish the idea of being separated in this sprawling, foreign city, and locating Lee's soul among the thousands he can take in at once, but his Weapon is a familiar pull now]
no subject
[He would, of course, also be questioning anyone else he thought might have some intel on the matter, but there was little to go on with random samples. Too many people would be using a subway in such a densely populated area.]
So, should I leave the main station to you, then?
no subject
It's like being a Genin again, forced to stand in one spot while his focus is elsewhere, but he's always had Lee to watch his back while he's distracted]
Roughly 450 meters northwest from here, you'll find the police wear uniformly light colored shirts and dark pants. It's a glass building built on a foundation of dark stone.
[Blinking back to the present, he glances to Lee] Sorry that took so long- it's not only the buildings built densely close together..
no subject
It is alright. We are in a new place so that is to be expected. As it is, your skills are still much more of a boon than any map could be.
[Lee flashes Neji a smile.]
I shall be off, then! When I have gathered data I will return to you via the pull of our resonance. If anything happens, do not be worried about pulling my attention away!
no subject
Alright. Just don't stray far. I'll be at the central train station, and contact you as soon as I'm there to check in. Be careful, Lee.
[With that, he turns Clairvoyance back toward his own destination and steps away from Lee]
no subject
[And with that, Lee turns and speeds off, arms falling back as he rushes down the street towards his destination.
The building Lee found was an exact match to Neji's description. And it was much larger than Lee thought a police office could be, but he wasn't going to question that. It was a big city, after all.
Lee had hoped to find some more worthwhile information while there, but there was actually very little to go on. The suspect seemed to wear a large coat but some of the witness reports insisted on wings instead. Lee didn't see how such a huge discrepancy could have been drawn but he didn't question that. People in distress sometimes saw things not as they were, and considering it was a Kishin Egg it could be either of those things. There were also reports of the suspect being tall and seemingly muscular, but there were, again, some contradictions to that.
It also seemed that the Kishin Egg did not aim for any particular crowd. Sometimes they were more target focused, but this time it was indiscriminate about its victims. Again, that did little to help the investigation and Lee hoped Neji was having better luck on his end.]
no subject
And it's not an isolated incident.
Bewildered looks all around as he activates Clairvoyance in the booth and searches out Lee's soul at the police headquarters to touch with his own]
There's more than one of them. How are things on your end?
no subject
[It's frustrating and that manages to make its way through their resonance.]
Do you have enough information to go on for now? Should we plan a stakeout?
no subject
The footage they have is somewhat more helpful. I'll pull more information from them and brief you when you get here. I'm located at the central train station roughly 300 meters due west of your location.
no subject
[Having a flashlight on hand could be helpful if they managed to get separated when down in the subway. And he wanted to grab them something to eat, too, before they ended up waiting on some Kishin Eggs to show up. There was a fried rice place that look cheap and popular, from what Lee could tell. He stopped by to nab them a meal before he made his way to the central hub of Hong Kong's subway station.]
no subject
He feels the moment Lee enters the building, leads the way out to the lobby as if he's the one in charge there, and with a look to the food Lee's holding, quickly introduces him to the manager of the central station]
We'll take up lunch for now and discuss our plans, then meet back here in an hour to fine-tune them and take additional suggests. Thank you for your cooperation, and I'll hope we can aid you in ending this threat soon.
no subject
So, have you decided on a plan for us yet, Neji?
[While Lee was always willing to produce input, he wasn't really the idea guy.]
no subject
There are stations that see a higher volume of activity during those hours. Most commuting from work to more residential districts for the night. The time of night seems fairly consistent, we just need to sort out which of those stations are being targeted tonight.
So we'll place ourselves in a central location, and I'll use Clairvoyance to keep watch. Additionally, they'll be cooperating with the police force to provide additional security at other connections, and they'll keep in contact with us through radio in the event something happens elsewhere.
no subject
Do we have any idea what kind of numbers we are facing with these Kishin? With so many people involved we cannot guarantee low casualties should we be facing numbers just the two of us cannot handle.
no subject
They don't work together in the usual sense, so we likely won't be facing more than one- or perhaps at the most two- at a given location. What we do have to worry about is simultaneous attacks we can't cover all at once.
But aside from separating and hoping our individual power will be enough, there isn't much we can do other than have the police protect the passengers until we can provide backup.
no subject
I would like to keep from separating if at all possible. We will simply have to be as efficient as possible with our kills, and hope that a simultaneous attack on two sites is not an issues tonight.
[And with that, Lee finishes up his meal. He almost wishes he had bought more but stuffing himself before a fight would not be ideal, even if they had some hours before their plan could be put into motion.]
I suppose we will have to take care of the planning, then.
no subject
[Not that staying together isn't a gamble for others, but neither of them are all that strong on their own, and could be easily overwhelmed individually.
He chews that over for a few more minutes, glances at a far away clock tower for the time]
I figured we'd spend two nights here, and take tomorrow afternoon to decide where we want to head next.
no subject
Right. We do not want to leave anything to chance. And two nights should be enough, if there are only two or three of them. Should they have more Kishin Egg infestations in their subway area, at least there would be a protocol to follow until we or another team can be sent to investigate.
[Lee yawned then, already done with the day. Boring data and facts and talking and not enough doing, in his opinion, though it wasn't Neji's fault that the police records hadn't been much help.]
Anyway, I shall need a nap or a quick run to perk me back up. I am certain the rest of the evening and night will be quite busy, but so far today has not been stimulating enough for me.
[And maybe it was the atmosphere, too. This smoggy place wasn't the best for a young shinobi psyche.]
no subject
Take a quick run, then. We still have a little while before we need to go back and discuss our plans. I'll map out more of the city and look for anything worth investigating.
no subject
Alright, Neji. I will keep my eyes open as well.
