I ain't gonna be just a face in the crowd [OPEN]
Characters: The Agency and YOU!
Location: Kuzunoha Detective Agency, in the Shopping District. You can't miss it.
Rating: G for now but may go up when talk of ~crime~ starts.
Time: Aug. 1, all day erryday
Description: This is the open mingle log for the Agency folk and everyone else. Pop into the reception, give the detectives a case, peek into their offices and see what offices say about their occupants, maybe stir up some trouble and test their patience if you dare. Make open threads or tag into existing ones, it's all fair game!
[The Agency, in a quieter area of the Shopping District, stands out like something transplanted from a noir film, two floors of Death City's investigators always at work, even when crime seems to have taken a rare nap. At least this time there are no serial killers, although there may be a few little scuffles here and there, or the odd pickpocket. The control room of the infamous surveillance system installed all around the city is located here; perhaps you have heard of those cameras watching your every move. Quite a few guests have complained about those.
The reception area is quiet but cozy and welcoming, with two nice couches for you to sit in if you have an appointment with any of the big guys or gals around. Doors lead to the kitchen and other offices (most notably those of the two heads of the Agency, Miles Edgeworth and Near) and meeting rooms, and of course, the heart of the surveillance system. The stairs will lead you up to the other members' offices.
Yeah, yeah, I know I just copy-pasted much of the description from the last Agency log before it was ransacked by thugs, but you get the idea. Oh, did I say it was once ransacked? The Agency should be good as new by now; that ransacking thing was months ago anyhow.]

RECEPTION AREA
But feel free to wander if you want. Wave at the passing Agency folk, maybe have some coffee or tea with them, chat 'em up, etc. I guess this doubles as a mingle log.]

EDGEWORTH'S OFFICE - copypasta-ing my last description like a bawss [OPEN]
Speaking of his desk, it is very neat, with paperwork arranged according to priority and topic, a variety of nice fountain pens, a book or two maybe, and a small framed photograph turned toward the window so you can't see who's on it.
The east and west walls are covered with bookshelves and file cabinets; if you decide to scan the spines of the books, you'll see that many of them are about law (duh) but several are on the history of Shibusen and Death City, and laws specific to this city, and a few are on Meister abilities and Meisters. There are two chairs in front of his desk if you'd like to take a seat, or you could use the couch. Yes, there's another one. It's also the same shade as the curtains. A small table off to one side holds a chess set, ready for a game. On the windowsill is an elegant tea set.
Edgeworth is either hard at work on a case, possibly going over a dossier for an upcoming trial, or chillin' like a villain with a book and a nice cup of tea. Don't forget to knock before entering. Alternately, you could pop in here while he's out and take a good look before he surprises you with the most deadpan what-are-you-doing expression on his face.]
THE (REPAIRED) KITCHEN
The tiling on the wall is still a little smoke-stained in areas, but it ultimately suited the kitchen's new look, so it stayed.
As ever, Yako is there, fixing a pot of tea. The coffee pot is burbling its way to the nth full carafe of the day, and there is a tart and a cake chilling in the refrigerator for today's treat.}

Hel-LO delicious cake. He shuts the door again.]
Was that the cake you were baking awhile ago, Detective?

[He gets a knife, a fork and a plate. Then he retrieves the cake from the refrigerator and places it on the counter. No, seriously, he knows how to do this.]
Naoto's Office - Open
[Naoto had no time to be properly organized as she worked fervently to find the information she wanted. There's a sign posted on the door asking for all visitors to knock before entering. Entering without such warning would be quite irksome since several documents were stacked near the door.]

Enter slowly.

Yo- Got the last of those eyewitness reports from Shibusen's archives.
[Then, he raised a paper drink holder with a pair of take-out cups and small brown bags.]
...And fuel.
[He waited for the door to shut before looking back at the floor and gauging a path before taking it to the desk.]
Man, we got video, witnesses and more firepower then than what we got now, and the bastard still wormed his way outta dodge.
no subject
Thank you. I'm finished with the videos anyway...
[Standing up slowly, she straightened her blouse and fixed her tie. It was obvious she didn't come to work with the usual binder beneath. She sighed faintly.]
Kanji, he's had months to move around. Locating him would be difficult. And even once found, unless you can counter Madness or survive a direct encounter with him, that's not going to pin his location down.
no subject
I mean he was right there, under our damn noses the whole time...!
[He sighed and tried not to set the drink holder down quite so hard.]
But this shit's beyond unforgivable. I thought he really wanted to 'fess up n' come clean, man! He ain't gonna get away this time!
no subject
[Quietly, she sat down at her desk again, one elbow propped on her desk while her hand cupped her chin. She was tired; several days of investigating with little sleep and still attending morning training would do that to anyone.]
This isn't the Adachi we knew. From the accounts, it was just like the time he discovered he could push individuals into the television world. A chance to turn a 'backwater' place into his new playground.
no subject
[The last ones kidnapped their friends. And the group before . . . Kanji hadn't meant to grind his teeth, but he had. He had to remember that Erinyes was gone.]
[But it dissolved. She hadn't been home much, and when she was, she was up hours before he was and gone when he woke. He stepped around the desk and set one of the take-out cups before her. He wouldn't be surprised if she was poker-facing her way through fatigue.]
So sortuva... 'Spring 2011 Adachi'?
no subject
That's right. If only the past Investigation members had known, this wouldn't have happened.
no subject
[He sighed through his nose and pulled up a chair, planting himself before scooting to her side.]
Maybe they didn't know then, but we know now. And we got the means to beat his ass down!
But seriously, don't feel like you gotta know all the answers right this minute. Adachi's a dumb-ass.
[He patted a pile of folders.]
He messed up before, he messed up here, too. It's somewhere in this room.
[He gave her a nudge, if anything to check and see if she didn't fall asleep in the chair.]
...Which'll still be here even if I ya fuel up, take ya out for fresh air to clear the head a little while.
no subject
Are you suggesting we go for a walk?
no subject
Damn straight. It's hot as balls outside, but we could take a shady route.
no subject
[Glancing over the documents, she frowned. She could go over them a hundred more times and still not come up with anything conclusive right now.]
no subject
[He leaned and he gently nudged her temple with his forehead, a gesture none could even imagine coming from him months ago.]
I'd push n' say ya need a nap, but that probably ain't happening.
no subject
[She didn't smile, but she did nudge him back with the same affection. Chuckling, she smiled under her breath.]
I know a clue is in one of these documents. Once I find it, I'll nap.
no subject
...anyways. [He picked up the bags and peeked inside.]
Wasn't sure which ya'd want, so I grabbed two different kinds'a muffins. They both looked pretty good.
no subject
[Anyway indeed. About to stand, she stopped when he grabbed the bag.]
What flavor are they?

A perceptive onlooker may notice the detective seems distracted. It's particularly noticeable when he's dusting off the desks; his movements are rather mechanical, and his mind is clearly elsewhere.]
