Love and Marriage
Characters: Signless, Disciple, and OPEN
Location: Death City's Park
Rating: PG
Time: July 6th, in the evening.
Description: Marriage is not a concept that exists within troll society, but Disciple and Signless feels that it is right for them. Today two trolls shall be married.
Please note that this is an open event so all characters are welcome to come. An announcement was made a while ago but feel free to assume others have been made if your character came in afterwards.
The central area of the park had been cleaned up as best as possible after the recent events. An outdoor wedding had seemed nice, but unfortunately they hadn't been able to predict that a sandstorm would hit, nor the damages brought about by the stray Kishin eggs. It had left the city in quite some disarray and the park was no exception.
Yet determination and hard work had pulled though. The area that had been reserved for the wedding had been cleaned up rather well, any excess sand carried away and the rented furniture had been cleaned up and redecorated. A pavilion had been set up, draped in a canopy of soft colors of red and green. Tables and chairs were set up in and outside of it covered in laurels and flowers. It was a very simple set up--as suited the couple, and the inside of the pavilion was only slightly more decorated, still keeping from being gaudy.
The area where the ceremony itself would take place would be a hop and a skip away from the reception area near a rather large tree. Lanterns are set up and down the makeshift walkway to make certain the area is lighted once it gets darker.

Meet and Greet

There was a moment of hesitation before she said screw it to tradition and tried to subtly get the girl's attention.
"Pssst. Rosalia!"
no subject
"Hi, Di!"
no subject
"Come on in!"

"Thank you so much for coming, Rosalia," She pulled the other woman into a hug, unable to keep herself still, "What do you think? Does the set up look nice? We were so worried that the sandstorm might have messed things up that we were running around like cluckbeasts with their heads cut off."
no subject
After Di is ready/before the ceremony, if that's okay with you? :'D
Rosalia's face is familiar, and soon enough the troll figures out why: she remembers seeing her at the Horrorspital once, even though she didn't strike up a conversation at the time, having had other priorities in mind.
"Hello," she says politely, smiling at the human girl. "Rosalia, yes?
Totally fine!
However, she is stopped before she could leave and stares.
"Hello..." Oh, she was staring. She blinks and nodds quickly. "Mhm! That's me. Uh, could I ask who you are?"
Helping Di get ready!
And she's been successful... mostly.
She doesn't hide anything at all as she helps Disciple get into her dress, however, and there's something reverent about the way she handles the fabric, about how slowly and carefully she laces up the back of the dress.]
Are you ready, Meulin?
no subject
So ready. So very ready.
no subject
You look stunning, dear. I'm certain that my little grub will find himself unable to look at anyone else during the ceremony and even after it...
[No, those aren't tears she's trying (very successfully) to hold back. Why would you say such a thing?]
no subject
Thanks to you and all my bridesmaids. You have all been so much help--I wouldn't have been able to do this all by myself. Thank you so much, Porrim.
no subject
There is no need to thank us: we did everything in our power to help you both, and we would do it all again if we had to.
no subject
Regardless. It means a lot. [She will need to hunt down her other bridesmaids to give them her thanks again. Each had been so kind and helpful.]
So. So I'm all ready?
So late but...!
All dressed up and fidgetting
There was no cold feet or anything either. He was just wondering if this was really okay.

Ceremony
Reception

The wait had been well worth it. Things had gone off without a hitch despite the recent developments and it was so nice to see their friends and family around celebrating. Death City had given them this second chance to be together, a way to conceptualize what she and Signless had. Honestly, she didn't think there was anyway they could ever repay the city but giving them a night to celebrate and be free was the least of what they could do.
Now she was seated at a table, shoes tossed under the table and feet digging into the soft dirt to ease her poor feet, greeting anyone who came by.

He makes sure to wipe his eyes before he makes his way over to Di.
"Hi. So, uh, how's it feel? You know, being married."
no subject
"I think Signless had reached the point where we technically felt married, even if we didn't quite have a term for it but." And she just gives a small, fond shake of her head, smile growing yet bigger, "it is nice to finally have words for what we feel for one another. To publicly acknowledge our affections in ways we never had time or the safety to back on Alternia. It's wonderful."
no subject
"I'm glad you like it. I have to say, I thought marriage was a little...well, alien at first, but it seems to work for you two."
no subject
Even when she had come to feel as intensely as she did for him as she does now, a part of her had still tried to articulate just what those feelings were. For so long the only words she really had were matesprit and moirail and so she had vacillated for a while, feeling she had to box herself into one of them. Eventually she stopped caring, but it had taken a while to get there.
"Thank you for being here, Karkat. And thank you for walking me down, it means the world."

"Have you gotten a chance to eat yet?" And of course, now she gets to fussing.
no subject
Oh god dammit Di he gets enough fussing from Kanaya and Signless as it is. "No, but I can eat now. Have you had anything? I just had to sit on my ass throughout the entire ceremony. You're the one that got married."
no subject
"We can get something together now, yes?"
no subject
Sorry for being super late!
Lily approached after the start of the reception, dressed in a pink 1950s cocktail dress and carrying a gift-wrapped box. Inside the floral print package was a vintage lace tablecloth that she had found a couple of weeks earlier in Las Vegas. "This is for you, a wedding gift," she said as she offered the box.
Noting the shoes under the table, she gave the troll a sympathetic smile. "I take it you don't much care for high heels either." And then glanced down at her own feet which were clad in a pair of slightly sparkly pink canvas sneakers. She had considered wearing dressy flats but with how much of the city was still a mess, this seemed more practical.

He's wandering around the reception with a glass of champagne, and, far from usual blank expression, smiles softly every time he glances over at SS and Dii.
no subject
When she sees Psii she smiles and makes her way towards him, sneaking up to his side.
"You sure you can handle that there?" Her tone is teasing, and she nods at the glass of champagne in his hand.
no subject
"Am pacing self," he says, giving Dii an even wider smile than the faint one that's never been far from face today.
"Think your human wedding has been superior to ones in human movies."
no subject
no subject
"Are you and SS going to have human honeymoon?"
no subject
Perhaps she was biased in thinking this but it did seem a more efficient way to go about it, but like with many things that regarded humans, Di still couldn't help but regard it with intrigue and affection.
"Would you care for a dance?"
no subject
"Would be happy to dance."
Actually knew how, thanks to Rosa, but he waited to see if Dii would expect him to lead.
"What made you choose Hong Kong?"
no subject
it's time to make his way over to his best friend. bringing another drink! ]
It's good to see you smile so much.
no subject
[Before taking drink, he gives best friend quick, impulsive hug.]
Am so grateful get to see you and Dii have day like this. [A little laugh.] And may be in danger of getting maudlin.
now in the right place!
Feel free to come greet her, and if you meet her later in the day, it's quite possible that she's just a little bit tipsy...]
no subject
In spirit of celebration, he's had enough champagne by time he approaches her that his cheeks are faintly flushed.]
Hello, Rosa. You look very nice.
no subject
It's been a while since she's been this relaxed.]
Thank you, [she says, before taking a sip of her champagne.] You look very nice, too, dear. If only you'd allow me to change all of your garments for more fashionable choices...
no subject
Am sure your choices would be excellent, but don't see any practical reason to do that.
no subject
Okay, so maybe she's a bit more tipsy than anticipated if she wants to go down that route after so many failed attempts, but maybe this time it will work...?]
Even if you see no use in having clothes that are aesthetically pleasing, you must hear me out on this, [she begins, her eyes glinting in that way they always do when she gets started in the Importance of Good Clothes.] Choosing the right garments and the right fabrics ensures that your body temperature is always at comfortable levels even if the weather you find yourself in is far from being kind. Choosing more resistant fabrics, in turn, ensures that you are less likely to be hurt should you be attacked, and certain kinds of clothes allow to carry concealed weapons with you... so as you can see, wearing the right clothes can make you stronger.
[She nods again. She knows what she's talking about, having always made her clothes as versatile as possible given her nomadic life with the Signless.]
As you can see, you can be fashionable and practical all at once, if you'll allow me to show you how.
no subject
His face flushes even deeper yellow at contact, but champagne is doing its trick of making him less skittish about touch, though it hasn't pushed him to the point of being actively affectionate (yet), and that's the only reaction he shows.]
Definitely found it difficult to locate clothes suitable for more extreme temperatures here, [he allows. And he remembers very well face Rosa made when she saw the shorts he did find.]
Though don't need to conceal weapons, as am not proficient in any.
no subject
...pretty sad that he's presently the sober one. at his own wedding. ]
Coordinated enough for a dance?
