[OPEN] Sandstorm Event + September Introduction Log

Given that the last time there was a sandstorm BREW had just...unceremoniously dumped the new arrivals outside to face the elements, Shibusen decided it would be prudent to send some people out to make sure the poor souls aren't left to flounder.

Outfitting their volunteers with the proper gear, they're allowed back into Death City not only to search for new arrivals but also to check for stragglers.

However, as the volunteers go through the city, they find more than just the expected stragglers and new arrivals. For some reason, there is the occasional Kishin Egg wandering around...

To make things worse, the sandstorm continues to rage, causing poor visibility and covering the streets with a thick layer of sand, making it hard to keep footing. A problem these Kishin Eggs don't seem to have when most of them are capable of diving under the sand to move like sharks.

That didn't sound suggestive at all. Nope.

With the abrupt nature of their resonance, Auron had to struggle to find a good balance with the red-haired man. It took him a few precious seconds to firm up their resonance so he'd have the strength to lift up the Rapier to a decent height.

"There...not too bad. I think this will work," Auron said. "Where did you see a kishin egg?"

Lmao XD

Typically, Genesis was a finicky weapon to resonate with. But he considered Auron an equal to him as one of those who had stayed longer with the Watch. Aside from that, they had taught together at times. Those reasons alone gave Genesis much to work with as they found resonance.

"It will work. The kishin egg is up ahead. It can dive into the sand, so be wary."
nofarplaneyet: (battleready)

Auron knows how to handle you, Genesis.

"Just great. I can't even curse them out. I'm afraid of whatever else I think they can do, they'll do it just to spite me."

Auron took a few practice swipes with the broadsword to get a measure of the Weapon. It didn't weigh nearly as much as his Spiran katana, but it had a nice design and an elegant edge. "Let's go hunting."

"Well, we can always blast them out with fire."

To demonstrate, Genesis channeled their resonance to show that the blade could produce flame. Although it wasn't as strong as it was with Edgeworth, it would be enough to cause significant pain and keep an enemy from diving back into the sand if it was stupid.

"Let's go."

It wasn't long at all though, until they ran into their first target: a Kishin Egg that lept right out of the sand to get at them.

"Auron!"
nofarplaneyet: (smile)

That icon is bitchin!

The fire that erupted along the blade's length startled Auron. Then he chuckled, low and deep. "What a nice little surprise."

At the kishin egg who thought they'd be taken easily, Auron leaped to the side and slashed. The kishin egg roared in pain, leaping back into the sand.

"We can do a lot of damage together."
recitings: (Cold Anger)

XD Thanks

"I'm sure. But they can easily put the fire out with sand. So we'll need to take them down as fast as we can."

The creature that had plunged back into the sand now leaped up again to try to take the pair out from another angle.

"We've got to find its weak point!"
nofarplaneyet: (battleready)

Get on the hydra's back!

"Or make one."

Like that convenient slash they'd already made together. Gripping the Rapier in two hands, Auron ducked under the jaws of the kishin egg and ran the sword deeper in its side. It roared and tried to get away, but Auron shoved the blade in deeply.

"Burn it from the inside!"

Channeling the energy from Auron's soul, Genesis amplified it into a roaring fire that burst within the creature, making it writhe with pain. And since the fire was all contained in the creature's body, there was no way it could put it out by diving back into the sand again.

It didn't take long for the kishin egg to stop writhing as the pair successfully cooked it from the inside. Auron coughed at the rank smell. "Fayth, that is foul. But you did good, Genesis." What an exceptionally useful talent that was!

Genesis hummed in satisfaction on the work they accomplished with the creature. It was quite a fight, but it certainly wasn't a match for two accomplished swordsmen.

"Well then, do you think we should continue on with our survey of the city? Our assistance could be needed. But on the other hand, reporting back with the knowledge that kishin eggs have invaded may be crucial to our return."

"That's true. We should report back. But...if we happen to run into anything else, I wouldn't mind setting another kishin egg on fire." There, responsibility and the option of more scrapping. What more could two swordsmen in red want?
recitings: (Determination)

Those words made the weapon chuckle. It did feel good to have the exercise, after all. Much better than being cramped up in the shelter. But still, they had a duty.

"I wouldn't mind that either. Anyway, we ought to get moving."
