[Closed] Second Verse, Same as the First
Characters: Amaterasu and Sheena Fujibayashi
Location: Canada
Rating: PG
Time: July 15th, Evening
Description: So the first time in Canada ended with no eggs. With a correct location now, perhaps the hunt will be better.
Snow, stars, and a chill, but nothing that the white fur couldn't stand. Would be better if she had her winter coat, but no matter. The light heat she gave off would keep both her and her current Weapon warm enough as they attempted to fight the Kishin eggs again.
Last time, they weren't able to get any eggs out. Turned out they were both in the wrong location and there at the wrong time. She snorted. Time wouldn't have mattered though as they could've flushed them out. Still, that didn't happen with the commotion they caused. This time, there was a small town close enough and a forest. Without a doubt, eggs would want to head towards it to feast. Tail flicking, she exhaled, watching the breath rise and turned to look at Sheena. Shall they begin?

She was already facing her partner when the wolf turned to her, her brows knit in determination. "I'm ready, Ammy. Let's do this."

A nod was given back before she prowled forward like a beast on the hunt. Before the evening was out, the Kishin egg would be the ones running.
no subject
She couldn't tell how many there were, but like her friend, she was determined to make sure the Egg would know better than to bother those Shibusen protected.

The beast was a small furry thing mainly made of a fanged mouth. Its red eyes fell upon them, but finally, Amaterasu let out a deep growl and pulled her black lips back further to reveal more fangs. Nothing to compare to the Kishin egg, but she knew exactly how to use them. This was only one... The other were probably aware of them and waiting. Well, they would see soon enough.

Hearing Ammy growl, Sheena stepped closer to the wolf, and her voice was quiet as she spoke through barely-moving lips. "Grab my hand when you're ready for me to change." She had no doubts about Ammy's fangs, or her own skill at holding her own against the beast, but with multiple enemies, it was always nice to work with another.

The second she felt Ammy's jaw around her hand, Sheena transformed, practice making the change go much quicker and smoother than before.
Ammy, there's something weird going on here... What's wrong with this Egg?
no subject
In fact, the Kishin egg decided to run then. She didn't really think about it, deciding to chase after it. They weren't going to fail this mission again and she could take a wild guess where it was heading.
Better get that fire ready.
no subject
Damn!
Sheena's anger and determination spiked at the same time Ammy took off. She didn't want to fail this mission again, either; too many lives were still at stake.
Already on it! Sheena replied, concentrating on her fire element. Ever since her breakthrough in training, focusing and regulating her power had become easier for her, so she was able to get ready pretty quickly, her form steadily filling with the tell-tale red color of the chosen element, though not as instantaneously as she hoped to achieve one day.
Okay, Ammy!

Amaterasu felt a small spark and noted how the red flooded into the cord in her mouth. It took a while, but that was okay. She only had in sight. With a snap and burst of flames, she startled it, sending it bashing into a tree. It released an eerie scream, a mixture of a squeak and squeal.
Her nose curled and her head turned slightly as two balls seemed to come rolling towards them.
Ah, so two more. They shouldn't be too difficult.
no subject
Sheena's emotions did nothing to hinder the power behind the blow, but her shock at the sound it made afterward could probably be felt by her partner. Her years growing up by a forest told her that was no normal scream. She immediately began refocusing her power even as she addressed Ammy.
That was a call of distress! Its "brothers" will be here...
Then Ammy pointed out those two balls.
...soon. A pause. Is it me, or are they acting like the other one did? And if they stay close like that, one hit should do it.

Pathetic might be the most accurate as the rolling eggs only stopped by crashing into the one present. With grunts and snaps at each other, they did get back to their feet eventually and turn towards Amaterasu and Sheena. They seemed to chuckle since they now outnumbered them and gave their best snarl.
Amaterasu stared blankly at them, but then bellowed with her own snarl back. Her fur was standing and her fangs were bared, but holding carefully onto Sheena. It certainly made them jump and try getting their wits together again.
I'll take a wild guess and say they were not the wisest humans before turning...
no subject
The word you want is "pathetic", Ammy. No need to be polite about this at all.
She watched the three of them, both amused and wary of their antics at the same time. They reminded her of some of the wild animals back home who seemed to function in a pack mentality. But, as soon as Ammy showed them who was boss, Sheena had an idea.
I think you're right! I also think that can help us. If we can keep them off-guard like they are now, we should be able to take care of them.
What do you think?
no subject
Kishin egg at this state - any state really she supposed - was rather mindless. Didn't expect them to be so foolish though. While the eggs gathered themselves, her ears rose as she listened to Sheena's suggestion.
Oh I'm sure I can do that. Best to end this quickly instead of allowing it to drag on. I'm sure whatever remnants of their human's souls will appreciate it.
She bounded through the snow and stomped her paws in close proximity of the first egg to recover, causing it to fall back into the other two.
no subject
Ammy, I have every confidence in you. And let's give those souls some peace finally.
Sheena's tone was solemn and she remained quiet as her partner did her thing, focusing instead on letting her power flow into the obijime, hoping to be fully charged by the time Ammy approached the first egg.
no subject
Amaterasu felt Sheena's power flow and began to do what she believed would be the quickest method. She bounded around the three creature, avoiding their teeth when they managed to become bold and snapped back at them. Her paws slammed, her tail whipped, and she butted them a few times.
Her paws picked up the pace and she made them loop tighter. Closer... closer... and finally, she tossed Sheena around all three to tie them together. Her energy struck Sheena's to draw out the fire and she began to pull.

Sheena had no idea what Ammy's plan was, but as a whip-like weapon, there were only a few choices available to handle things as quickly as possible, so the ninja wasn't too surprised when the wolf began corralling the Eggs as close together as possible. She did, however, admire Ammy's technique in doing so, remaining quiet as the Eggs snapped and snarled, the confidence in her friend's ability manifesting in Sheena's own ability to focus her power completely.
By the time she was looped around the Eggs, she was fully charged, and when she received the "word", she released it, confining it to the three she was wrapped around--and nowhere else.
Just like her cards...

She felt the powers welling up inside Sheena and the heat rising which was perfect. The kishin eggs seemed to realize it and opened its mouth, prepared to bite its way out, but Amaterasu pulled Sheena tighter. With a flare of her own energy, she added to releasing the fire.
Immediately, fur ignited and consumed the eggs as she pulled, drawing the obijime until it was able to cut through them. They were reduced to ash shortly, but collapsed instead into nothing but three red souls hovering where they once stood.
no subject
They're free now, aren't they?
no subject
She kept hold of Sheena, staring at the three red and black orbs hovering before them. Amaterasu still wondered how precisely the whole thing worked. For her world, it was weighing them, deciding how they would be reborn. Here, maybe the Weapons took the corruption as power and the pure soul was collected. Did that cause repeats though? Something to ask Kid about.
no subject
There was a long silence as she contemplated the idea. She knew Weapons ate the souls, but that was all she knew. She didn't know if there was a process she had to go through with them first. Maybe Ammy knew.
Ummm. The souls I got from Shibusen didn't look like those. Do I need to take them back there first to have them checked out?
no subject
Amaterasu looked back at the souls. They seemed pretty typical for souls on these sorts of missions. Then again, Sheena didn't go on these missions that often.
No, they'll be fine. They've just been around for a while longer.
no subject
Sheena considered the souls again before coming to a decision.
I'll deal with them slowly, one at a time. That's what I did with the others so I wouldn't get sick. But I need to change back first. Ready?
no subject
Ready with you are. If you begin feeling ill, I can take you back to the mirror.
no subject
As far as she knew, Weapons ate the eggs as soon as they were obtained. Maybe she had missed something?

However, before she did anything with either the souls or the bottles, she remained still a moment, her head bowed. She felt it was the least she could do for them.
no subject
She paused too when Sheena took a moment of silence, mouth closing as she looked at the red souls. It was unfortunate, but better to pray for the lives lost than the ones who took them.
no subject
And maybe that was a good thing--to remember that these souls once belonged to humans, and not look at them as just a way to grow stronger.
With one last look up towards the sky, she finally turned back to Ammy and went over to her friend. Putting her hand on the wolf's head, she stroked the fur there gently. "I'm ready to go, Ammy. Let's... Let's get out of here."
no subject
A pat to her head and she raised it to look up at the young woman. Ah, she was ready to go? The wolf nodded and started ahead, pausing to wait for Sheena before moving forward again. Mission accomplished this time.
End here?
Yep. Mission accomplished all right.
Sounds good to me
