[Closed] Frozen nose and paws

Characters: Amaterasu and Sheena Fujibayashi
Location: Canada
Rating: PG
Time: June 8th, Morning
Description: Kishin eggs in Canada! Or... they're supposed to be here. Ah, right--! No, that's a snow drift.

She could continue sniffing all day, but the wind whipped around snow and scents, making it near impossible for even the wolf to track anything. Amaterasu sneezed at another snowflake directly in her nostril and shook her head fiercely. Was that--?!

Ah, no. That had been nothing again. She knocked into a tree and stepped back, sniffing at the wood. Excellent, they went in a circle now and now Kishin egg. What the heck was going on? Usually they're much more eager to present themselves. Maybe they landed in the wrong location? She looked up at her partner for today and huffed.

"You okay?" Sheena reached down to scratch behind her partner's ear--that knock into the tree looked a little painful. Her own thoughts were running along the same vein when they hadn't been able to find anything. "I know, Ammy. This just doesn't feel right." Huddled in her winter coat, the young ninja was already working on verifying the information given them. Her confusion only deepened when she got her answer.

"We're in the right place." She pulled her jacket tighter about her and looked around. "Sometimes enemies who lived in the cold areas back home didn't always come out." She paused significantly. "Unless something drew them out." Yep, she was thinking of being bait for the Egg.

Sheena smiled and shook her head when Ammy literally put her foot down. The young ninja understood perfectly despite their current language barrier. "I'm sorry, Ammy, but it makes more sense for me to be the bait. You know what to look for, and I don't, so you'd be able to alert me when one approaches."

Sheena was positive the Egg was just hiding somehow from her friend and was confident Ammy would be able to find it. And even if the thing didn't take the bait, at least they tried.

Sheena would do the same for her if given the chance, and if this worked, she just might get one.

The young ninja returned the nod before looking around a moment. The idea of luring the Egg out into the open was an appealing one, but Sheena's ninja mind couldn't help but think about blending in. And with all the white around them--

"Hey, Ammy," she began, looking back at the wolf. "Feel like playing hide and seek?"

Sheena chuckled at the tail wag. "I'm taking that as a 'yes'!" she told her friend. But, where? There were quite a few places the wolf could go around them, but it had to serve two purposes: Allow her to observe without being seen and not hinder her in case Sheena needed help.

"Okay, then! Let's pick a spot for you!" She said, her eyes seeming to wander over to a nearby snowbank on their own.

Sheena couldn't help laughing; although she might not be, Ammy looked like she was having fun, and the ninja thought to herself about coming back up here when not on a mission to do this again.

And get away from the relentless sun and heat of Death City.

"Can you see?" Sheena asked, using a little snow to disguise the visible part of her friend without covering her completely.

Nope. Being able to see was good. It was exactly what Sheena needed and wanted. "Good," she said, reaching through the snow for one final scratch behind an ear before moving off.

"Keep an eye on me, Ammy." Sheena stood and moved off into her friend's line of vision, trying to think of a way to bring out a Kishin Egg. A few things occurred to her, and she decided to start with the simplest: Movement.

So, then and there, she began running through her training regimen because who could miss a mass of purple and pink moving against the white snow?

After several minutes, Sheena was beginning to feel too warm in her jacket, and she stopped. But instead of taking it off totally, she only unzipped it and stands immobile, her breath misting in the cold air as she waited for her foe.

But nothing happened.

Confused, she glanced back towards Ammy and shrugged, holding up a finger with her brows raised in question: One more time?

Sheena was also getting bored and tired. And if she kept her coat open much longer, she'd get sick, too. Well, she had another idea. There's a saying about curiosity and cats, maybe Eggs can be curious, too.

With enough noise to attract them, that is.

Giving up on being sneaky, Sheena bent down and made a snowball, then looked in her partner's direction. "Ready or not, Ammy, here it comes!" And one snowball went hurtling towards the wolf's hiding place.

Sheena, meanwhile, had a mischievous grin on her face and was already making another snowball when her friend reappeared. All of that stopped, however, when she saw what Ammy was doing.

The ninja wasn't the least bit surprised that her friend could make a snowball; she was startled that she was making it so big. Dropping her own smaller weapon, she began backing up slowly, laughing the entire time.

"Uhh, Ammy, don't you think that's a little big?"
ninjainviolet: ([I Dare You])

And Sheena continued backing away slowly as the bigger, though she didn't make any real attempt to get out of the way. Because Ammy couldn't really be thinking of doing what Sheena thought she was thinking of doing, right?

Wrong.

As soon as the ninja saw that grin, she knew what was going to happen. Still, she couldn't help laughing, even aiming a snowball behind the the larger one in a token display of defense before turning and running. Which she knew was hopeless considering how fast it was already moving.

So, she suddenly stopped and turned, and with what could only be called a wolfish grin of her own, stood with her arms to the side in the traditional "I'm a target" stance and waited.

I should stop doing tags on my phone... a few words are missing up there. *sigh*

The last thing Ammy probably heard before the snowball exploded was a muffled "oof" as Sheena's arms crossed in front of her for protection--right before becoming part of a wolf-made snowdrift.

Somehow, Sheena had wound up behind the wolf, and was rising slowly out from beneath the white powder, rubbing her head. Still, that didn't stop her from picking up a handful of loose snow and tossing at her friend with a laugh.

"Right behind you!"

Although disappointed their mission failed, Sheena was more than prepared for the wolf's onslaught, and joyfully wrapped her arms about her friend as she laughed between the licks to her cheek. "It's good to see you, too, Ammy! And I'm fine!" She pulled back a little. "Are you?"

There really was no such thing as failure when a person had friends, was there?
