I forgot your name...
Characters: Rokudo Mukuro & Rhode Kamelot
Location: Casa Mukulot => A special date
Rating: G
Time: February 14, afternoon
Description: After a shift at Deadly Pretty, Rhode comes home to a nice surprise from her partner.
Rhode was a bit sore in the feet from all her running around at the cafe, but she didn't bother changing out of her maid uniform when she left. It was the one day she didn't feel too silly wandering around in a pink maid uniform, with the extra frills making her feel just a bit cuter than she normally did. It was a nice day for a walk, and she was excited to get home to some chocolates and sweets of her own.
It didn't take her long to reach the apartment, humming a quiet little tune as she made her way up the stairs. As she unlocked the apartment door, she slipped her feet out of her shoes, bending down and picking them up as she stepped inside.
"Mukuro!" She chirped, closing the door and locking it behind herself. "I'm home!"
no subject
Mukuro was walking out of their bedroom at that precise moment, in a black and white leather, silk and suede ensemble that was much nicer than his usual. He smiled at Rhode the moment he saw her.
"It's Valentine's Day. I believe I owe you a date."
no subject
"... I need a nicer dress if we're going on a date," she finally replied, glancing down at her little apron with a slightly disapproving frown. "Having you outshine me just won't do."
no subject
That statement naturally implied that Mukuro thought that sometimes, Rhode being "at her best" meant "better than him". He did know how to get her attention.
"I'll wait for as long as I need to, my dear, but don't take too long." He chuckled. "We shouldn't waste time."
no subject
"I'm ready," Rhode announced, rather unnecessarily- and not quite accurately, since after the shoes she began trying to tie that ribbon into a headband with a bow at the top. "Where are we going?"
no subject
Well, wasn't he being charming as hell right now? And he was also stepping forward to tie that ribbon for her.
no subject
The accusation was accompanied by a smile, though, and Rhode straightened up and stood quite still to let him work. She liked the extra attention- and she was rather bad at tying her own bow without a mirror, anyways.
no subject
He kissed her on the forehead when he finished up, and took her hand, turning towards the door.
"Now, come."
Nope, Mukuro still had not answered Rhode's question.
no subject
She'd nearly forgotten that she'd asked in the first place, with the rush and conversation. It was unusual for her to drop something, but she was fiddling with a bit of the lace on her skirt, letting her partner lead her along as she softly hummed.
"I didn't think that you'd like Valentine's day."
no subject
Which, in Rokudo Mukuro terms, meant that he usually couldn't be bothered to give a flying fuck about it.
"Still, as your partner, I do feel that it is necessary to indulge the ridiculous spirit of the season and do something nice with you."
no subject
Instead, she just squeezed his hand gently, skipping a bit closer so she could walk right by his side.
"I have chocolates for you at home. The dark sort, so they're not too sweet."
no subject
Mukuro rarely ate sweets in her presence, preferring, instead, to watch her devour them for herself. (Even if they did make her a little fat...) When he did eat, he did not look like he enjoyed them more than he enjoyed anything else.
no subject
She shrugged, as if it were the most sensible thing in the world.
"And you don't buy them for yourself, or at least eat them by yourself. So you must not like things that are too sweet."
no subject
"That's rather observant of you."
no subject
Rhode giggled softly as he pulled her in, latching onto his coat with one hand.
no subject
And where were they going? Mukuro appeared to be leading them towards the edge of the city, where there was pretty much nothing but ruins.
no subject
She was beginning to notice how odd their route was, but she'd known Mukuro long enough to know that asking him where they were going was useless. Instead, she hummed a few bars of some nonsense tune, skipping a bit to be able to keep with her partner's long legs.
no subject
He knew how much she loved to tell everyone how wonderful she was. He certainly did not mind listening.
no subject
Rhode grinned up at her partner, leaning her head against his side with a content little noise.
no subject
It was at that point that Mukuro drew away from Rhode and jumped up on one of the low walls by the spiraling street, balancing on them as one might on a beam. The move was effortless on his part, of course.
no subject
Rhode watched him spring away, sighing quietly at the sudden lack of physical contact. She moved closer to the wall, though, watching him curiously.
"So why don't we just say... adorable and brilliant?"
no subject
"Yes, I suppose that will do."
no subject
She frowned up at him- much farther up than she was used to- trying to keep pace with his legs and not trip on the uneven cobblestones.
no subject
"It means that you are, indeed, adorable, devious, brilliant and many other things besides."
no subject
"I'm glad you recognize it. It would be awful, if I had a partner who didn't know just how lucky they were."
no subject
Now they were finally leaving the city proper, traipsing down the bridge leading to the outer zone. Wherever were they going, really?
no subject
It was supposed to be a joke, but her tone made it apparent that she didn't really see it as unrealistic. She was glancing around, trying to puzzle out where they were heading but still not asking.
no subject
Mukuro appeared not to notice: he was already hopping off of the railing, and cutting to the left. A few turns later, and the path changed: it was strewn with flowers, and appeared to be leading up to one particular ruined house in the abandoned section of town.
no subject
She'd done it before, in her own world and here. She just wouldn't be terribly happy about it, and she'd end up channeling her frustration into less productive things (like bullying idiots, and things like that).
Rhode was distracted from her thoughts by her partner's change of direction, though, blinking and taking a few moments to follow. When they turned that last corner, she stopped- Staring at it with a mixture of surprise and confusion before it finally fell into place: This was for her.
"... Oh. Oh, Mukuro."
no subject
His tone was lazy, as if he could not understand what Rhode was getting all excited about. Mukuro continued to traipse along, following the flower trail perfectly, right up to the doorstep of the house. Then he entered and started climbing the stairs.
no subject
"Did you do all of this?" She asked, looking up at him as she tapped along beside him. "Did you do all of this for me?"
no subject
Really, Rhode: why was it so surprising? He had killed for you already.
Not that you knew about that, but well...
no subject
"... Nobody, I suppose."
He really did care for her. No one would go this far for someone they didn't really care about.
no subject
Chrome Dokuro never showed up, as things were, and if she did now... well, she'd have to get used to sharing.
That thought was amusing enough to make him chuckle. Then he was swinging the door to the rooftop open before Rhode could ask what was so funny, and revealing, with a little flourish, exactly what he had prepared: a pinic spread, petals and candles everywhere, with baskets full of food and bottles of wine.
"Have a seat, my dear."
no subject
Rhode let out a noise as they stepped out on the roof, completely distracted from any thoughts she'd been having only moments before. It was picturesque, and terribly romantic; she caught herself with one hand to her mouth, covering the little 'o' of surprise on her lips.
She was only frozen for a moment, though, brought back to the real world by her partner's voice. Glancing over to him, she stepped over the petals daintily, settling down in a nice spot with her knees tucked gracefully to one side.
no subject
"No one else will have as pleasant an day as we will."
He was sure of that.
no subject
"Is that a promise?"
She asked, tone teasing as she reached for a treat of her own.
no subject
"Yes."
And he was not the type to make promises, precisely because he was rarely ever interested or invested enough to keep them. Odd how things changed.
