Description: Welcome to Death City!



BREW's at it again. After powering up, giving energy readings on the night of the 5th that alerted Shibusen to new arrivals, they turn now to volunteers to assist in giving the newcomers the information and supplies they need.

Perhaps you're one of the ones who woke up in the Kishin Chamber on the morning of the 6th. Perhaps you live in Casualty Communal and were woken up by equipment transporting strange x-ray machines to rest in front of the building, prepared to scan the fresh meat and determine which are Meisters and which are Weapons.

The sun is laughing high in the sky as temperatures soar to 110 degrees F. The air wobbles in the distance, and many citizens are drinking plenty of iced tea and lemonade to cool down. One group of children has popped open a fire hydrant and are playing in the spraying water before the police arrive to give them trouble.

No doubt the new arrivals are confused... let's give them a warm welcome, shall we? But not too warm- stay hydrated and cool, everyone!

And new guys? Welcome to the desert.

[ He looks pleasantly surprised at the reaction, chuckling to himself. What happened to being troubled just now, Josuke, are you this easily distracted.. ]

You really are a good girl! Hehehe.. [ He pats her a few more times before pulling back his hand. ]

Why did they leave you here though to answer questions? It's not like you can, right? [ But she just understood what he said before.. ] Uh.. well, I don't mean it in a bad way, you know! [ YOU DON'T HAVE TO APOLOGIZE TO ANIMALS. Normally, at least. ] But it's just.. you can't talk and shit. Makes it hard.

[She grins, but it leaves as he pulls away and she stares quietly.]

[Yes, yes, that whole question comes up. While he bumbles over his words and mentions how she can't talk, her nose buries in her fur, pressing until, finally, her fangs pull out what she was looking for. Her communicator with a pre-set message.]

I can write.

WOAH..!

[ He was squatting down to be on a more even level, but when he sees the communicator with the message on it he just promptly falls backwards so he lands on his butt on the ground, his eyes wide as he just stares. ]

Y-.. you can write?! But you're.. w-what, is that some sort of Stand?!

[motherofthesun]

[She's seen a number of reactions by now, this his must be the funniest. Chuckling, she takes the communicator and sets it down, fangs gripping the stylus and pulling it out. She uses her paw to make the other message erase before writing again and showing him]

No. Just using the stylus.

[ He's still pretty shocked.. he won't get over it this easily. An animal wearing pants, sure, he can live with that, but one writing?! That's just crossing the line into weird. Especially since she can understand him. ]

.. And you.. get what I'm saying. [ He points to himself. OF COURSE SHE GETS IT JOSUKE HOW ELSE WOULD SHE BE COMMUNICATING LIKE THIS. ] Right?

[She would give him a blanker stare if possible, but just rolls her eyes and nods. Yes, she understands you. Pretty sure that had been clear earlier... Oh well.]

[ Just give him a moment to catch up with everything. He'll be better once he does, really. ]

Man, I don't know what kinda place I've been dragged in, but this stuff is freaky as hell.. [ Rubbing the back of his head again. ] How come you can talk then? Can all animals do that here?

[She glances around, her head tilted slightly. Was the decor frightening? It wasn't that bad once you got use to it... though, he might not literally mean that.]

[Amaterasu shakes her head. She hasn't seen any other animal writing besides humans.]

[ .. Huh. Well, that would make stuff more normal here.. at least a little bit.. ]

So it's not the animals in this place that are special but just you?

[Oh, shaw. He'll get used to it... maybe.]

[She nods now. Yes, yes, he's catching on.]

Then why are you so special? [ He totally forgot his questions about this place, yes. This is just too strange for him to completely ignore.. ] I mean, you said it wasn't a Stand or whatever, so what's it then? I never heard of talking animals before! .. Uhh, except on TV, I guess.

[She scratched the fur at her neck. He could try re-wording that question to sound less... oh, what would humans call it? It would come back to her eventually. She's back to writing.]

Whoever said I was meant to be a wolf? Besides, learning the ways of humans isn't difficult. I watched them develop methods of communication.

[ ... Man, this is confusing in so many ways... he's really moving to get comfortable here, sitting with his legs crossed and folded and all, just since he's getting so into figuring this out. ]

Oh, I see, so then you must've--

G-gimme a sec, didn't that happen ages ago?!

[She stares at him before nodding since yes or no didn't require much writing.]

So you're not just a wolf that can understand people and sorta talk, but you're that old too?! Man, that's.. [ .. he looks like he's looking for a word, but in the end he's just stumped.. ]

.. I dunno what to think anymore.. man, is everyone here that.. uh.. special..? I-I mean, not that you aren't cool, but it's just freaky!

[She shakes her head because not everyone here will be like that. Just a few... she has to snicker at his expression of course.]

Hey, it's that funny?! [ He doesn't really seem angry though as he usually does when someone makes fun of him, mostly since.. well, Amaterasu's just a wolf as far as he knows. Just a very special one. ]

I'm just not used to this kinda shit. Pretty sure most people wouldn't be.

[She nods, understanding, but her tail still wags. He's funny. He'll have to try getting used to the weirdness.]

[ He will. Eventually. Said "eventually" still being a while away. ]

So.. uh.. you probably have a name too then, right? Mine's Josuke, Josuke Higashikata.

[No problem. Everyone needs time. Her ears flick as she remembers his name and then she writes]

Amaterasu.. pretty fancy name for a wolf. Even for a talking one. [ But that being said-- ] I'll remember it though. Good to meet you.

[She raises a paw. This is what humans often wanted to do right? So... shake Josuke.]

[ It.. takes him a moment.. he's just staring at the paw as if it's some alien tentacle, but then he realises what he has to do. He grins, holding out his own hand to grab the paw and shake it a little. ]
