Description: Welcome to Death City!

BREW's at it again. After powering up, giving energy readings on the night of the 5th that alerted Shibusen to new arrivals, they turn now to volunteers to assist in giving the newcomers the information and supplies they need.

Perhaps you're one of the ones who woke up in the Kishin Chamber on the morning of the 6th. Perhaps you live in Casualty Communal and were woken up by equipment transporting strange x-ray machines to rest in front of the building, prepared to scan the fresh meat and determine which are Meisters and which are Weapons.

The sun is laughing high in the sky as temperatures soar to 110 degrees F. The air wobbles in the distance, and many citizens are drinking plenty of iced tea and lemonade to cool down. One group of children has popped open a fire hydrant and are playing in the spraying water before the police arrive to give them trouble.

No doubt the new arrivals are confused... let's give them a warm welcome, shall we? But not too warm- stay hydrated and cool, everyone!

Right. Shibusen doesn't know exactly how BREW works to really shut it off or nothin', so they at least give us someplace to live n' all. I mean, you're feelin' this sunshine today, right? S'hell today!

I'm a Meister. Y'got scanned?

Ah, so BREW is an independent existence from Shibusen. It merely delivers, and Shibusen is left to handle what is offered. [ A little shake of her head. ] It is good that they are so welcoming, and I must admit that I can see how some would find these sunny conditions particularly unwelcoming. I, on the other hand, am enjoying the sunshine a great deal.

I did get scanned, earlier. A Meister as well. Though I must admit that the premise of using another as a Weapon will remain foreign to me until I try it myself.

What, y'don't burn or nothin'?

Yeah, usin' a Weapon's pretty weird at first, but it all changes when ya pull off resonance and start tearin' through kishin eggs like a damn boss. Meister needs a Weapon, but the Weapon needs their Meister, too. They can't get much done without the other, no matter how much they insist they can roll solo.

But I'm pretty sure someone toldja about Morning Training. Park every morning, six to nine AM. But they can show ya how to work with a Weapon, and figurin' out your Meister Ability. We Meisters all get one, and it's always gotta do with what we could do back home. So y'know, somethin' to think about.

I am unlikely to burst into flames, if that is what you mean. Though I am much more resistant to the sun than others of my race; and I am led to believe I am also more resistant to the sun than humans are. [ So, no, she doesn't burn. ]

Resonance. [ A pause. ] I presume it is a form of bond between the Weapon and Meister so they can attain peak performance on the battlefield, likely best achieved between partners? [ This place needed a GameFAQs to explain it all. If she was asking these questions, someone else was, too. ]

Ah, yes. However now I find myself curious as to what Meister Ability I could have attained. Do you happen to know any further details pertaining to such abilities, for example... [ A thoughtful pause as she taps a finger to her chin. ] ...I suppose, tips to identifying the ability? Or is the only hint that anyone has is that it directly correlates to an ability from 'back home'?

Yup. Ya kinda... mash souls together. S'weird to describe, but when ya pull it off, it makes sense.

Uhhh... [He thought a moment. He discovered his on accident.]

Yeah, that depends. Some abilities are defensive, some are attacks like mine, and others only work when ya resonate. There's a dude at Morning Training who runs a class on unlocking what yours is. Kinduva stick-in-the-ass, but he knows what he's doing. Y'wanna look for a Miles Edgeworth.

Otherwise, I guess... what'd you do back home? Y'had some kinda magic power or some special ability unique t'you?

That description makes the reality sound particularly unpleasant, but I imagine that souls are not exactly corporeal in any capacity and as such lack the means to be unpleasantly mushy at all. I would assume it is all in the senses, the mind.

[ She listens, nodding politely, and takes a mental note of the name. ] Miles Edgeworth, then. I will be certain to speak with him tomorrow morning as he is likely the one best suited to work with, despite any temperament he may possess.

Meanwhile... [ It couldn't hurt to share it. ] I believe that "vampirism" would be the closest term akin to a special ability of mine, though I would prefer to not need to bite anything in order to determine if that remains the case.

...You're a vampire?? [A vampire... that likes the sunshine. Well, he knew a dhampir, so he figures she's one of those. Only a troll, too.]

S'weird as this sounds, ya might have to. Uh- but d-don't bite me though!

[He likes his neck. And he didn't want to have to explain teeth marks to his girlfriend.]

Edgeworth can help ya get sorted on all that though. I tried teachin' that once; didn't go too well.

It was merely the most convenient term available that would adequately summarize the most notable of the associated afflictions. Fret not, I do not bite uncontrollably or without proper reason to. [ That and she just doesn't seem to have the craving for it presently, hmmm... ]

I believe, when meeting with Edgeworth, I will save testing biting for last. There is no need to attempt it first.

...I dunno, I think Edgeworth wouldn't mind a bite or two. Dude's real stuffy, so it'd probably loosen him up.

[He sneaked a quick glance at the large scanners nearby. Nope. She didn't catch that. Good.]

Anyways, it's gettin' hot as hell out. Think I'm gonna take a break for water. We got extra baskets lyin' around, so if ya run short on somethin' a little sooner than ya like, gimme a buzz.

[ She shakes her head. ] Even so, I would require permission before proceeding with such a thing.

That is fine, I do not wish to keep you out in the sun longer than you would like. Ah, before I forget, I am Kanaya. Thank you, for your assistance and the baskets, ... [ Whoops she didn't get his name or give hers. ]

...Kanji. [He was pretty terrible at giving his name, so it ain't you, Kanaya.]
