Description: Welcome to Death City!



BREW's at it again. After powering up, giving energy readings on the night of the 5th that alerted Shibusen to new arrivals, they turn now to volunteers to assist in giving the newcomers the information and supplies they need.

Perhaps you're one of the ones who woke up in the Kishin Chamber on the morning of the 6th. Perhaps you live in Casualty Communal and were woken up by equipment transporting strange x-ray machines to rest in front of the building, prepared to scan the fresh meat and determine which are Meisters and which are Weapons.

The sun is laughing high in the sky as temperatures soar to 110 degrees F. The air wobbles in the distance, and many citizens are drinking plenty of iced tea and lemonade to cool down. One group of children has popped open a fire hydrant and are playing in the spraying water before the police arrive to give them trouble.

No doubt the new arrivals are confused... let's give them a warm welcome, shall we? But not too warm- stay hydrated and cool, everyone!

And new guys? Welcome to the desert.

[ Here you are, have Kanaya who is likely, out of everyone who arrived and took the tour, the one looking least bothered by the heat and the sun. For anyone looking, she definitely looks like the trolls already here in Death City, though her skin is notably lighter than theirs. ]

[ In any case, she steps towards the machines, curious. They serve some purpose, likely one that individuals can't do without their assistance, so she politely stands and waits for her turn. ]

[Aqua smiles politely at the next person.]

Could the next person step forward?

Certainly.

[ She steps forward, glancing to the machine, curious about how it works. ] What am I to do?

[blue_wayfinder]

Just stand over there, please.

[She indicates where she means.]

The machine just needs a moment to warm up.

[lumigenitor]

[ With a nod, she steps forward to where she's needed. No problem. ]

[blue_wayfinder]

That's fine.

My name is Aqua, by the way. [Some small talk to pass the time as they wait...]

[lumigenitor]

I am Kanaya. [ A smile. Small talk is nice. ] How long have you been here in Death City?

[blue_wayfinder]

I arrived in October so it's nearly been eight months.

[Which, she realizes, isn't necessarily the most comforting answer.]

[lumigenitor]

[ ...give her a moment, that is indeed not quite a reassuring answer. ]

Ah, I see. [ A momentary pause. ] However, the war has not been lost in that time, so there is still hope.

[blue_wayfinder]

There's that.

We've managed to score some small victories against the Witches and the situation is better than what it was before. [But there is still no end in sight, sadly.]

[lumigenitor]

Even the smallest advances are better than none at all. [ A nod. ] And it seems that BREW is at least consistent in bringing new arrivals to the city, as varied as we are.

[blue_wayfinder]

If only it could be as consistent about not sending people away.

[lumigenitor]

Ah. I assume that such things happen with much less warning when compared to the consistency of arrivals? If you will pardon the grimness of the inquiry, do they simply fade away, disappear, or die?

[blue_wayfinder]

They're sent back to their own world, from the exact moment BREW took them from.

I was sent back once so I can attest to that.

[lumigenitor]

At the exact moment. [ That gives her a moment of pause. Wonderful. ] I see.

[ Whoops looks like she's thinking about that now; with a slight side thought of wondering how long the machines take. ]

[blue_wayfinder]

[Before Aqua could wonder about that reaction, the machine let out a 'beep', signalling that it was done warming up.]

Please stay still for a moment. [And then she presses the right button and...done. She looks over the read-out.]

It looks like you're a Meister.

[lumigenitor]

[ She stays still when asked to, and then at the result she decides to step back, blinking for a moment. ]

A Meister. [ Give her a moment, she's processing that info. ] So I'll be the one doing the hands-on fighting, wielding a Weapon.

[blue_wayfinder]

[She nodded.]

BREW will also have given you a Meister ability that might be related to something you could do back in your world.

[lumigenitor]

[ A brief nod, though a little confused. ]

Which means it's different for everyone, and mine to figure out on my own. [ ...a puzzle, for the moment. ]

[blue_wayfinder]

It seems like occasionally you'll find two people with the same Meister ability, but it seems to happen rarely. There are people at Morning Training who can help you out though.

[lumigenitor]

[ Another nod. ]

That is something to look forward to, then, the answering of that question. For now, though, thank you for your assistance.
