[CLOSED] so it seems I'm not breathing
Characters: Audrey and Dwight
Location: Villa Canales, Guatemala.
Rating: PG-13
Time: Backdated to May 28th.
Description: Bizarre murders have been occuring within the city following nights where citizens recall hearing the distressed weeping of children. One eyewitness report recalls seeing a man hurriedly dragged down an alley by strange imps before disappearing into the darkness. Shibusen has been called in to end the threat.
Audrey stepped out onto the dark street and took a deep breath. There was something in the air that made the tiny fine hairs on her arms stand straight up, and she was abuzz with anticipation that accompanied a heavy dread in the pit of her stomach. Fighting a slight bout of nausea, she straightened the bottom of her t-shirt and turned to Dwight.
"Something about this mission gives me a bad feeling," she said. Yes, she means a worse feeling than she had about the last one.
Here's to hoping this isn't as difficult as Argentina, she thinks, not daring to bring it up. It's obvious, though, that she's afraid of being hurt just as badly this go-round as the last.

Her eyes widened when he got to the alley, heading right into the dark, obviously following after the noise. She started after him. "Dwight-!"
got my psycho!edge icon >D
Audrey's voice draws him out a little and he glances back at her, he's glowering but it pretty obvious it isn't aimed at her. Putting a finger to his lips he looks forward again.
He picks up a small click sound amongst the crying. Tiny nails, he figures, scurrying over the bricks of the buildings.... "Crap..." There had to be at least three or four in here...and he couldn't see a damn one.
OMG YES \o/
It felt like home.
A young woman stood in the doorway, holding a bundle in her arms. That's where the crying emanated from. The woman was smiling, but tears had filled her eyes as she met Audrey's.
"He wants his mother," she said softly. The crying filled Audrey, her chest tightening as her face began to feel hot and wet. She suddenly felt the urge to run to him, to hold him, to take him and run out the door and never look back-
And then she blinked, and the alley was back. The pain didn't subside immediately, but after a few more rapid blinks and deep breaths, it began to. She could feel a trickle of blood on her upper lip, and as she looked around to try to regain her bearings, she realized that she was on her knees on the hard stone.
Audrey stared up at Dwight, eyes wide. The crying hadn't stopped, and she could hear the clicking as well now. She pushed herself back to her feet, trying to calm her frazzled nerves. This wasn't the time to focus on whatever memory had just been brought ramming back to the forefront of her consciousness; there was a here and now to attend to, and Dwight needed a functional partner more than anything else. He couldn't shoot himself, after all.
"What's- What's the game plan?" In other words, let's talk about what just happened after we've killed whatever Big Bad is about to try to kill us.
>:D!!
"Wha..." He frowned, tightening his lips into a line he looked around the alley. "We got three...two on the right and one just took wing." That was all that he hear. He wasn't going to forget what just happened....but if Audrey wanted to push it aside- then...
"We need them out in the open; or at least someplace with light." Wouldn't help much that she could shoot if it wa too dark to see where she was shooting.

"Is the street light enough?" She glanced at him, but only for a second. She was too freaked out by the thought of something hitting her in the face in the dark.

"Yeah...just enough that you can see what we're hitting." He licked his lips, starting to back away carefully. "Ok...here's what's probably going to happen. You get out slowly...wait under the light." His eyes dart around in the dim darkness, searching for something on the ground, "I'll make a bunch of noise and drag those guys out there." Dwight lifted his eyes from the ground to meet hers, "Then you shoot 'em."

"Sounds like a plan," she finally said, continuing back until she found herself doused with the harsh brightness that spilled down from the streetlight. She kept her eyes trained on her partner, ready to move if something went wrong.

"Okay Dwight...just find something...toss it and hoof it." His hands groped along the ground before his fingers closed around a bottle or some sort. He didn't care at the moment, so long as his aim was decent.
"Hope you're ready, Audrey..." He counted to three in his head before chucking the bottle towards the wall. There was a dull sound followed by a screech and flutter of wings. Dwight cursed and ran towards the light, behind him the creatures were flying out.
"Audrey!" With a flash he was suddenly energy, it was sudden but he managed to appear in his weapon form in Audrey's right hand. Now...now it was all up to Audrey.
