They'd been waiting for this.

They gathered around the residential buildings, taking care to scout out exactly where the non-natives have been living as they suck up all the resources and act as a beacon to Witch attacks while complaining among each other about how hard the war is and other pointless nonsense.

They come armed with rags and bottles, lighters and stones, crowbars and a bad attitude.

"...Begin!" Called a voice from the gathered crowds, and the fires began as rags were lit, bottles were thrown. With the shattering of glass, the gasoline would spread and the fires would feast, burning everything it touches... including your prized possessions, if you're unlucky.

Others, local thugs one would see if they walked the streets at 3 AM and peered into many of Death City's labyrinthine alleys, saw fit to shoulder-ram the doors into the building foyers, looking to take the destruction to the inside of the building, the apartment staircases, the higher floors. It looks like this particular strike was planned ahead...

[At the last moment he explodes into action, dodging most of the attacks from crowbars and baseball bats, but using the sword to block a few while he reverses his grip on Sugata and punches with the hilt. A man goes down with what's going to be a very black eye and sore temple when he wakes up in the Death City jail.

People are people, after all, and although Takuto isn't at all pleased by their actions, it's not as if they are Kishin eggs. Besides, as a Watch deputy he's got to set a good example of trying to not injure the rioters too much. And he doubts Sugata would appreciate it if he got all stabbity with him.

Of course, none of this stops Takuto from being his usual, slightly reckless self during a fight. He pushes into the crowd, stepping on toes and then elbowing people in the gut, using the flat of the sword's blade when possible.]

Don't you have any cool weapon moves? [Takuto doesn't normally try to speak using a resonance connection, but he's a little occupied and doesn't want to give it away to the people surrounding them that he doesn't actually know if Sugata has cool moves or not.]

Weapons have abilities, too, usually. [No one has ever explained this to Sugata before? Aion was a sword that could also shoot soul energy bullets.

He ends up with Sugata's blade pressed against a man's throat, and the man backs off quickly--allowing Takuto to move in with the sword and slap him across the head.]

I'll take your answer as a no, though.

Ah, I see.

[he just assumed it was only the meister that had special abilities. he had no idea he had one as well. this was kind of overwhelming. but not enough for him to break concentration.]

How do you find out what it is?

[Takuto grins, even though technically the situation is still far from one in which he should be grinning.]

No idea.

[Makes you wonder what Takuto's meister ability is, doesn't it? Whatever it is, Takuto doesn't really seem to be using any special powers to beat back some of their attackers.]

Well I suppose I'll find out eventually. Sorry to disappoint you. [but now is not the time to be thinking about that. especially when they have more pressing matters at hand.]

the only thing disappointing about Sugata is his length. heheheheheh

Don't worry about it. We can try to figure it out at morning training sometime. [But they are doing a rather good job of being a one man-one knife army and protecting the entrance to the cluster of apartments. It'd be no good at all if any of the angry rioters got inside where there was access to stairs.]
