Description: A forgotten God and a living Legend go troll-hunting.

After maybe an hour of speaking with the locals, following hints and getting a vehicle Steve and Hades finally arrived in the outskirts of a forest that was supposedly part of a famous park. Hades had left most of the speaking to the human Meister, assuming correctly that doing so would inspire more faith and cooperating from those they met.

The place their tracking had led them to was the shore of a big river that was filled with water that was of a muddy blue-green color and kept making small noises as the floods rushed by. A light rain was falling and the barest hint of faint mist had build up along the surface of the water.

Hades walked up to it until sand mixed with the earth beneath his feet and only a few steps divided him from taking another unwanted swimming lesson. “According to what that one said the last victim was snatched from about here.” He took a deep breath and closed his eyes for a moment. It wasn’t the ocean, but all that water still reminded him of his late brother. Silly stupid brother who had went down while trying to punch giant scorpions in the face. “…I don’t think that dying in the water is really preferable to dying on the land.”

He silently nods in reply. His expression says that he truly regrets having spoken that frankly. "It does not matter whether I know something or not. If I or another god of my kind can say it it is true, even if the exact circumstances of that truth are yet to be known." The kishin egg could live for ears pacifically until something happens that will force its keepers to kill it. Maybe it won't be able to eat anything but souls and starve. Maybe it would get sick. But it was going to need being put down in the end.

His lips curve into a smile. "Heh... It does not matter whether we see the stone at the bottom of the well or not because it is already a fact that it is there. It truly is 'the word of god'."

Steve believes him, even if it is a bit to take in. It seems like Hades could technically answer any question, even if he doesn't personally know the answer beforehand. Almost seems like it can be one of the most dangerous things around.

Still... "Doesn't mean that we can't still try and change its fate. Help it out in some way."

The suggestion earns him a blank look. "What for? It's already decided what is going to happen." There is no passion at all in Hades' face and voice as he changes to his partial Weapon form.

"You don't even wanna try?" He wouldn't be here if he listened to all the doctors that told him he wasn't fit for service. Of course, the doctors are not 'gods' like Hades, but Steve is really stubborn when he wants to do the 'right thing.'

"What I 'want to' or not is of no relevance in this case." He gathers the end of the chain in his hand and starts swinging it, startling the small kishin egg.

He didn't mean to come off cold. It is simple logic as far as Hades is concerned.

"It'd be best to get over this tiresome matter as soon as possible."

Steve moves to try and put a hand on Hades' arm, wanting him to wait still. "If it was relevant, would you still want to do this?"

He still keeps an eye focused on the kishin egg, noticing how it seems to be looking at them now. Well, he doesn't blame it, especially if someone is readying a weapon in front of it.

Hades stops. His dark dead eyes look first at where Steve is touching him and then slide to stare him into the eyes. "What point is there to letting it live?"

Steve removes his hand once Hades stop, knowing that the guy doesn't like to be touched. "There's always a point. People should be allowed to live, have a chance if they're not doing anything wrong." He's frowning a little now, still stubborn about his own position in this matter.

"Hou," Hades' hand changes back as he turns to look at Steve with a mocking smile, ignoring the kishin egg that has been slowly edging away from them. "Justice, is it? Or would one call such a thing misguided pity? Only the human race worries about such things as guilt and innocence."

Behind his back his other hand is slowly changing into his partial weapon form. He is cold and getting tired of this debate.

Steve's fine with talking, long as the kishin egg gets away. "Call it whatever you want, it's just doing the right thing to me." Of course, the 'right thing' can be subjective, but Steve can normally feel which side he'll be on in these matters. He's been wrong before and he's willing to change his mind when that happens, but Steve doesn't feel that way right now.

With his focus on the kishin egg, he doesn't notice Hades' other hand.

"Possibly." Hades acts quickly, faster than would be human possible. One moment he is still talking to Steve, the next he is several steps ahead, moving and twisting in a fluid graceful motion as his partial Weapon form circles once around his body to gain momentum before if flies high and hits the kishin egg's head from above with an anticlimatic 'thunk'.

The creature kept moving for several more strides before it staggers and falls.

Hades eyes turn to rest on Steve calmly, without mercy or any warmth of life. His expression shows the same painted on smile as always. "But living and dying isn't about what is right or wrong."

Steve should have paid more attention, he should have seen this coming. But it didn't matter saying that now, since Hades suddenly moves ahead to strike the idle kishin egg without any kind of hesitation. It isn't like watching something in slow motion, the blow has been landed rather quickly and rather cleanly.

He looks from the dead kishin egg to Hades, visible anger on his face. "Killing is about what's right or wrong, Hades." His hands are clenched by his sides, but Steve makes no other movements towards him yet.

"No."

He walks over to the slowly disintegrating cadaver and picks the small red sphere of the corrupted soul out of it once it is reachable. Holding it up, he allows it to hover over his palm for a moment before tendrils of dark energy seem to reach out of his hand and absorb it. There was a strange sort of casual reverence in the way he handled it and when he spoke again.

"It is about life."

Turning back to Steve, he gives him a fleeting smile. "Do you hate me for what I just did?"

Steve watches as Hades absorbs the soul, just like what he did before with the others before. He still has a problem of using souls to become stronger, but there's another matter at hand now.

"That isn't life."

That's all he says for now, as he listens to Hades' question. Course the guy has to send him a smile as well, as if he's just amused by this. "At the moment."

His expression doesn't change, only the layers of his ears turn to curve sideways rather than high. "That is rather normal. I am after all no god that is to be loved."

He crosses the distance between them, facing in the direction they had come from. "There are no more kishin eggs to be found here for the time being. We should leave." There was a tiny pause before he adds. "What kind of life would it have had? Is staying alive against no matter what becomes of you really that imperative? I do not understand human values, so I cannot tell."

Steve decides not to comment about the loved comment, but he looks at Hades as he approaches. "I don't know what kind of life it would have had. It was about giving it a chance."

Despite his anger with Hades, he didn't move to get into a physical fight with him.

He gave him an unreadable look.

"Would you want to be given a chance like this? Or if it were your child?" Hades shook his head, lowering his voice. "You mortals, even though you already know that it is pointless... You still struggle."
