[OPEN] April 2013 Introduction Log

Characters: Volunteers, Newcomers and OPEN for mingling!
Location: All Around Death City
Rating: Varies
Time: May 19th, All Day
Description: Welcome to Death City.

BREW doesn't think about kidnappings, activists or the hot, dry weather that hangs over the desert city this week. After powering up, giving energy readings on the night of the 18th that alerted Shibusen to new arrivals, they turn now to volunteers to assist in giving the newcomers the information and supplies they need.

Perhaps you're one of the ones who woke up in the Kishin Chamber on the morning of the 19th. Perhaps you live in Casualty Communal and were woken up by equipment transporting strange x-ray machines to rest in front of the building, prepared to scan the fresh meat and determine which are Meisters and which are Weapons.

Regardless, it's looking a little more like old times... let's give them a warm welcome, shall we?

[ooc: Newcomers! Simply tag in to any or all of the sections here and volunteers will pop right up to greet you ASAP! The last section is completely OPEN for newcomers, volunteers, or Guests all ready in Death City who want to come up and say hello. Have fun!]

Shiina looks up with a start, the flash of pink immediately leading to two possible familiar faces. But closer inspection proves that to be not the case, further putting paid to her theory that there might be a connection to something from home.

She gives a barely perceptible nod at the question, more concerned with a question of her own. She has to know the truth of it. "What's SEES?"

Cupid leans forward a little on the table as she prepares the explanation she's been practicing, smile still in place between her words.

"SEES stands for 'Specialized Extracurricular Execution Squad'- though don't take the name too literally. What we actually do is try and help out new guests as well as old, and help out around the city when given the opportunity. We're pretty big on trying to keep a sense of camaraderie going between the guests, as well as with the city."

Brief hope, foolish as it is, blossoms in her as she finds out what the title stands for - Yuri changed the name of their organisation often enough and it sounded close enough to their mission, if in a more roundabout way than was typical for Yuri - only to fade as this very pink girl explains further.

"I see. Then the name is misleading." If anything, it sounds the opposite to what they actually do.
amorini: (That I saw your eyes)

"Only a little bit, depending how you translate the 'execution' bit..."

Because she has no idea what Shiina could be referring to otherwise, though if she knew about the brigade, she might feel a little badly. As it is, she can only smile a little sheepishly and pull back, reaching behind the table for one of the gift baskets.

"But here- you just arrived, right? So you totally get one of these."

"It seems straightforward enough to me." Of course, it's easy enough for her to latch onto the obvious meaning of execution when it's what she was trained for her entire life.

But then the other girl's reaching for one of the baskets and Shiina's on her guard again. She eyes it suspiciously, wondering what the catch is. Would accepting it be a form of weakness? Some means of assimilating just as being one of the good students was supposed to have been before?

In response, and not moving to take the basket, she offered just one word. "Why?"
amorini: (Can't breathe)

"If you say so."

One second she was saying the name was misleading, the next she was saying it was straightforward. What a contrary sort of girl...

"Why? Because it's part of what we do- I told you we try and help out new and old guests alike. Giving people a few basics to survive on when they first arrive is just one of the ways."

"But why?" Random acts of generosity aren't something she's used to and she can't help but look for the catch. "What do you as an organisation gain from doing so?"

Not that she won't accept helping for help's sake but she has to investigate. Trusting such generosity isn't something she's so easily inclined towards doing.
