[Closed] Mission 166

Characters: Demona and Barricade
Location: Chili
Rating: PG
Time: 14th May
Description: The government in Chili has reported large winged creatures attacking towns and cities throughout the country. Early reports indicate that these winged creatures closely resemble giant insects that have been documented to be as large as a vehicle. These violent Kishin Eggs have been known to spit an acid-like compound from its mouth at its prey. Caution is advised.

A mission in order to escape the City which Demona didn't care for. The current events on the city didn't matter to her - since no one was killed, the guests were just roughed up and that was a pathetic excuse of kidnapping. And now that it was over, she might as well have some actual fun by destroying things and killing others.

And she also needed to have a word with Barricade, so they can do both.

Holding the mission report in her free hand, the gargoyle glided through the air currents, carrying Barricade on the other hand. "We will be fighting kishin eggs capable of flying. This battle will be interesting."

Demona would only be the second Meister to wield him in an actual battle. It didn't make him nervous or hesitant - he got along with Demona better than Qilby in a lot of regards, so resonance wasn't a chore. Considering his clashes with the old Eliatrope, Barricade had the feeling he and Demona were going to clean up once they had more experience together.

Bad news for the Kishin, and, eventually, for Shibusen.

Barricade didn't push, not now, and simply let the familiar emotions buffet against his own before they settled into a rhythm. Just like running a host/symbiont program, and almost just as oddly comforting. As much as he disliked most of flying, he did find it easier to keep an eye out for the prey. Hopefully they wouldn't have to do anything silly like rescue humans from it, and out in the open here, it seemed they'd be lucky.

"Down there." It wasn't flying - not yet, but there was a creature not far off on the ground that definitely wasn't natural. Once it spotted them, he assumed they'd finally have that fight on their hands.

Not being used to aerial combat, Barricade didn't see the second Kishin until Demona was trying to ward it off. Sometimes these damn Kishin were smarter than people gave them credit for, and he was forced to really admit that when the original target took flight. It could be coincidence, but that he doubted it.

The second Kishin didn't find Barricade very easy to cut through, so with a screech it wheeled about to put some space between them. That allowed the first one to come up from underneath, moving much more quickly than he'd thought possible. Considering the size of them, it was worrisome.

"Below you!" The best he could do was warn her when he could, and hope she knew what she was doing.

Well, that answered whether or not she knew what she was doing. He could concentrate more on shredding these things than waiting for his face to hit the ground again.

The first Kishin stayed down, making a half hearted swipe at her before she was gone. The second, however, was waiting for its opportunity as it circled overhead. It dove the moment she launched herself back into the air, attempting to bring her down swiftly.

Here was the absolute worst part about flying - the uncontrolled falling. He could never deny the necessity of air superiority in war, so long as someone else other than him flew around. Still, Demona would be in worse shape than him if they hit the ground, and then no one was going to be happy.

The moment she had his hand on the monster's face, he knew what to do. Without missing a beat, he started squeezing, razor metal slicing through the monster's flesh. He hit the bone a moment later, and at that point the thing started shrieking, losing its grip on Demona as they plummeted.

Barricade wasn't exactly ready for that Meister ability of hers, and the sudden fury hit him like a brick wall. Hitting the ground after falling didn't even come close to comparing, and it took him a few moments to catch up and reconnect with her. He could tell it wasn't going to be an easy task, but the payoff would be incredible.

The kishin gave a yelp when Barricade's claws sunk into its leg, crashing into an undignified heap as it was pulled down. Without waiting for a command or suggestion from Demona, he kicked in the hydraulic power of his claws and shattered the monster's bone like it was dry clay.

This felt good, all the power she could give him and he could amplify right back as a Weapon. So long as it was controllable, he was going to like fighting with her.

He could hear the bone breaking when she shoved it down, and it hardly seemed necessary for him to do any more. The problem with kishin, though, was that they tended to heal quickly when left to their own devices.

With a hiss, his claws closed around the beast's skull, smashing it into pulp. It's body lashed out involuntarily once, then went still as the blood and gore oozed through his talons.

"Nice work." Two more kishin souls down, at least.
badcop: (screw you guys)

super late, sorry :c

Barricade waited until all that anger and rage subsided before transforming back to his root mode. This was the first time the disconnection felt a little disorienting, but he didn't show it outwardly at all. Nice adrenaline rush.

He eyed her tail before walking over to the mangled corpses, barely having to stoop to pluck up one of the red souls.

"Fun is a bonus if it's successful." Barricade tipped his back, and one soul was down the hatch.
