[Open] There and Back Again

Description: The mission's simple: Arrest the perpetrators, and get our friends back. Of course, the kidnappers aren't going to make it simple...



The first step was finding a way into the tunnels connected to the sewers. Thanks to Guest investigators and the Death City Police Department, two entrances were found, allowing for a pincer movement. The mirrors are primed and ready to go, situated in the sewers proper by dawn and ready for a quick extraction of the abduction victims. On the other side, in the Shibusen clinic, medics are on standby for medical treatment of the victims and the fighters heading in to clear out and apprehend the masked weirdoes.

But the masked weirdoes have tricks up their own sleeves: The tunnels are littered with pit traps, thin wire triggers waiting to be sprung (or disarmed) with darts, arrows, or even falling rocks and debris in store for any intruders that decide to enter these makeshift halls, and the perpetrators themselves are armed with melee weapons, smoke and pepper bombs, and sheer numbers.

Today is also the day that the kidnappers have decided that a little isolation would make the prisoners more compliant. Roughly hauled up bright and early one by one, they're on their way to individual chambers when they each get a message via clairvoyance as promised:



"We're coming."

[There are some tears in his eyes but he's going to ignore them. Going insane with worry is a pretty apt assessment of what he did while Yako was missing, and feeling her hug him tightly is the best kind of reassurance that things are going to be okay.

He pulls back just enough to stare into her eyes for a moment--yes, it really is Yako and she's alive and everything--and then kisses her with so much feeling that part of his soul seems to bleed through with it.

In all fairness, he's been resonating with several different weapons on his way to rescue Yako. But the emotion running through his soul isn't the determination from before, it's filled with relief and happiness, and probably at least a little bit of love itself.]

{It's probably a little reckless to get caught up like this when there's still an escape to make, and kidnappers to round up. It's probably awkward for anybody hovering at the doorway, wide open to such a tender, private moment.

It's probably a lot of things, but Yako can't bring herself to care very much right now.

She's too busy meeting Takuto, mouth to mouth and soul to soul. She's too happy to see him to feel nervous about resonating again, and he probably can feel his own emotions mirrored back as her soul latches weakly onto his.}

[He finally pulls back, more for air than anything else, but there's no way he can pull his soul away from hers when it feels like she so desperately needs him. But looking at her more closely...

He can see the bruises on her face and it breaks his heart. She's been held prisoner and these so called minor injuries had continued while he'd been powerless to come save her.]

Let's get out of here. [He gently releases her, but only enough to quickly slip an arm under her knees and lift her up princess style as he stands. Even though he won't make any claims about being a fairytale knight come to rescue his damsel in distress, he definitely plans to personally carry Yako out of this mess.]

{Yako has dealt with far more painful forms of abuse in the past, but that's the last thing he needs to hear right now. They're lucky she doesn't think to say it out loud.

She's startled by the sudden change in altitude, and wraps her arms around his neck quickly.}

Um...is it alright that your hands aren't free?

{She knows better to imply that she's too heavy to carry; she didn't even break one hundred pounds before BREW nabbed her, and she's actually lost weight since then.}

[He nods. It isn't as if it's just Takuto that came to the rescue. There's half of the city's guests in attendance, beating up the creepy kidnappers left and right. Besides, Takuto didn't exactly leave very many standing on his way in.]

Any of the traps are already set off, and I think most of the bad guys are cleared up, too. [He places a quick kiss on her forehead and starts heading towards the doorway. He's not letting her go.]

Either way, he is not alone. It will be alright.

[of all the people who had been hovering in the doorway, at least there's one who isn't too concerned about making things awkward -- and who has been waiting to see yako for a while now.]

{It's not for the same reasons, but he was one her mind just as much as Takuto has these past few days. Her face immediately clouds with guilt, and she's too tired to try and downplay how much being forced to stand him up tore at her.}

...sorry. I ended up keeping you waiting.

...at least you didn't try to kiss Yako first

[Takuto shifts Yako a little in his arms, gently chiding her.]

The last thing you should think about right now is apologizing.

[he looks a little surprised at the apology, like maybe he expected her to be upset at him still, but his expression softens almost instantly and then he's right there hugging her tightly regardless of her position in takuto's arms.]

It was not your fault. I missed you, Yako.

{Sorry Takuto, she's going to make this a little hard on you. She lets go of his neck in order to cling to Kaworu, burying her face in his shoulder.}

I missed you too. And...and I really did want to talk.

[It's not that he minds so much that Yako and Kaworu want to give each other hugs. It's just an awkward position to hold a girl while she's hugging someone else. It also puts Takuto in quite the proximity to Kaworu, which, given everything that's happened recently... is much less awkward than it really should be.

Still, Yako needs this hug and so he's fully supportive of her having it.]

[it probably doesn't help that you are a giant and she is trying to hug someone like half your size.]

We will have plenty of time once we leave here. Until then, I will not let anyone harm you.

[sorry takuto, he's not letting go just yet. he hasn't gotten to so much as talk to her recently, let along hug her, and as if remembering that fact he pulls back just enough to press a kiss to her cheek.]

{It's all too easy to fall back on their normal cuddle routines after the ordeal the last three days turned into. There are still things to be addressed, important issues, and soulcuddling, at least, is off the table until that happens. But for now she just keeps hugging him.}

Don't drain yourself down too much, okay? I...don't really have any extra energy to lend you, this time.

[He shifts his grip on Yako just a little. Since, you know, this is kind of an awkward position and he'd really like to get them all out of here now. And Kaworu is certainly not going to be the one who gets to carry Yako out of the tunnel. That is the boyfriend's responsibility, of course. The two of you can soulcuddle later.]

[assuming he gets shinji back now that takuto has his hands full, anyway.

for a brief moment, he's nervous about mentioning shinji at all. that is kind of what started their not-fight in the first place. but she's happy to see him and they're hugging and there's no way this can be bad right now no matter what.]

Yes, but how does that help the energy issue?

{She pulls back a little to frown at him worriedly, even as she wraps one arm back around Takuto's neck. She doesn't want to fight either, so she just adds another bulletpoint to the list of things that need to be addressed in their talk.}

[Takuto for one is more than ready to head out.]

[Takuto doesn't mind depending on the rest of their group--which includes at least one face that's unfamiliar to Yako--on their way out.]

You are able to gather more energy from enemies, but resonation of any sort gives me an additional source of energy to draw on. Your abilities are more efficient in the long run, but I am not lost without you.

[turning to head out of the cell, he at least doesn't seem at all worried. yako is safe now, and she doesn't hate him, and so there is nothing to be unhappy about.]

[After having been dropped by Takuto as the redhead rushed over to his girlfriend, Shinji, a little disoriented from the sudden drop, transformed back in order to get a better idea of what was going on.

After seeing the three of them embracing like that, he couldn't bring himself to interrupt. He stood, lightly brushing himself off as feelings of intense relief at seeing Yako safe flooded over any confusion or worry he might have. Once the group had finished reuniting and looked as if everyone was ready to head out, he brought himself back to the fact that they still had to get out of here.]

Sh-Shinji-san...? When did you...

{Yako blinks over Takuto's shoulder at the other other boy. She tries to think of when he entered the cell, and can only come upon one conclusion: he was the knife Takuto had been holding earlier.

As happy as she was to be rescued, as a fellow Weapon she had to lightly smack at her boyfriend's chest.}

Takuto, I love you, but you do not drop a Weapon! That's just rude.

{She's too tired and drawn out to really think about using the "L" word, so she just stays fizzed up with second-hand indignation.}

[He hugs her closer to his chest , a warm feeling running through him at her words. He couldn't even be upset she was chastising him, since doing that means she's not feeling too bad.

But she has a point, so he lifts his eyes to Shinji for a moment as he heads towards the doorway.]

[it's okay, at least one of them is more than happy to take care of shinji. since yako seems to have the whole scolding takuto thing taken care of, kaworu just sidles over to gently take shinji's hand. whether it's for ease of transformation or just because kaworu likes holding his hand is up for debate.]

We should go before more of them come.

I-it's fine.

[Shinji isn't about to scold Takuto over it - maybe just remind him not to do it again later, but considering the situation he's more than willing to let it slide this time. After Kaworu takes his hand, he draws and releases a deep breath before transforming back into weapon form. All they had to do now was make it out of here safely.]

{Yako settles back against Takuto's chest, mollified at the apology and the acceptance. It's a bit strange, seeing Kaworu with another Weapon, but Yako doesn't have the right to feel jealous—she's never gone on a mission with the same Meister twice in a row, after all. So she doesn't, and instead presses her cheek back against her boyfriend's shoulder.}

Yeah, we probably should get going...

[He carries Yako carefully through the door, making sure he doesn't bump her against the door frame on their way out.]

...It's this way, right?

[The plan is to go out the way they came in, because they've disarmed or set off all the traps already. But Takuto really hadn't been paying attention to the way in when he'd been focused on finding Yako.]
