Description: With the arrival of a certain catfish, there are a lot of discussions to be had.

[It was strange that it had never occurred to her that any of their "enemies" might appear here in Death City. BREW certainly worked in mysterious ways if it thought someone like the Condesce would easily lend her hand to the war effort. She supposed she should at least be grateful that it had stripped her of so many of the things that would make her a dangerous foe, but considering what the Empress' mere presence could do to some of those she held dear to her, Di wasn't feeling especially thankful.

Given that their home was away from any of the free shelters where most newcomers resided it seemed the obvious choice to open up their doors to all those trolls who would be in immediate danger of the Condesce. She scrambled around making preparations for the large host of people they would be getting--thankfully she still had all the furs she had on her person upon her first arrival and they would serve as good temporary beds until they managed to get something better.

The couch had been covered in blankets and pillows, all the furs laid out before it to make a secondary bed. Drinks were pulled out in preparation and when the first knock came she quickly marched over, peeking through the glass in the center of the door before opening it up.]

[Psii reads as much of network as can, curiosity and habit of data-collecting uniting in common goal, so has seen and heard discussions of human marriage. Always pays particular attention to Dii's posts, too, so knows she asked about it. Concept remains very strange to him.]

Is arrangement between human matesprits, correct? But to exclusion of other romantic relationships?

In a manner of speaking. Humans don't have a quadrant system, so they devote themselves to a single partner. Matespritship is the closest in their ideal of a romance, and marriage is a serious life ritual they perform to bind themselves to that person they want....to be their lifelong matesprit, I suppose is one way to put it.

[Dii and SS have always been exception to every rule about romance and quadrants. They have category all to themselves, which Psii has never thought to liken to anything else.

But does know Dii well enough to see parallels to this human ritual when he realizes she must have, too.]

So, is sort of thing you like, [he teases, gently.]

[She blushes a little and looks down, biting her lip and nodding.]

I've been thinking...it's something I'd like to do with Kankri. Maybe it's silly but I keep finding my self drawn to the idea and it seems right.

Well, the process of asking someone is very important too. It's called a proposal and well. I'd like to make it special, not just say it plainly. I've been speaking with some people at the Maid cafe. [Uh oh]

I think I have something worked out with them, but it's going to need some heavy preparation beforehand, and I'd like it to be a surprise.

Am not quite sure why asking is so important. But will be glad to help when time comes.

[Dii doesn't need to make mewbeast eyes like that. Only had to ask to get Psii to help. Thinks she knows, and is doing it for effect.]

What does ritual involve?

It is often up to the person proposing but the one thing that is definitely needed is an engagement ring.

[She reached into her pocket to bring out a simple ring encrusted with peridot]

It's suppose to represent the beginning of the ceremony, and be a sign that the person is spoken for.

[Seems Dii wants to leave no doubt about by whom SS is taken. It makes Psii smile.]

[It was unnecessary since they were the only ones in the room, but Di leaned in to whisper in his ears. Her cheeks tinged a little as she pulled away, after explaining.]

[Psii grins. Is wonderful idea, and very Dii.]

Think he would like anything you did, but that sounds perfect.

[Psii approval is had! This is very, very important.]

I also went and got us a human movie, just to show what is kinda expected during this time. It was suggested to me by the lady in the shop so I haven't seen it myself, so we can experience it together.

Have been curious about human movies. Hal said should watch sometime, for cultural reference.

[And is quite curious about human romance. Surely can't be as weird as seems.]

What is movie called?

27 Dresses. Short isn't it? I think all human movies are like that. At least all of the ones I've seen.

[She bounces to the living room and pulls the DVD case from the cabinet the TV is situated on. She takes out the DVD, and tosses the case Psii's way]

This would be better title for movie.

[Is still unclear on how dresses fit in, as finds spot on cushioned public seating zone.]

Wouldn't it? I don't know, I guess it's just a human thing. The longest title I've seen yet is only six words long and it doesn't really reveal anything about the movie either.

[She pops the DVD in and the goes to hop onto the cushiony seat, curling up at Psii's side]

[Psii leans against Dii, welcoming the contact. Still finds it funny that smallest of his family is fiercest.

Is this ritual so important to humans that everyone participates?

[Be careful to never use the s word out loud in front of Dii]

It is! It's partly a life ritual and partly a celebration, I think. The families and closest companions of the two getting married are invited and after the wedding itself they sometimes have a thing called a recwption which is like a party.

Guess if only have one romantic partner, choosing them would have greater significance.

[Psii watches as young female human travels back and forth between two of these parties, becoming quite confused by throwing of bouquet.]
