[OPEN] Mission 157

Characters: Open to participants who signed up here.
Location: Nocturne Bazaar
Rating: Gen.
Time: April 5th.
Description: The battle to destroy the last of the three Madness Emitters is upon us.

It happens early in the morning: a strange and lingering air of disquiet, almost imperceptible even to those trained to recognize it for what it is, quickly rising to a mind-shattering crescendo. On the floating island above the city, black liquid bubbles up from the cracks in the cobblestone streets and materializes into tall, thin, clown-shaped creatures. Oversized carrion birds take wing from the rafters of buildings, trailing dust from their dirty wings. The screams of civilians are clearly heard even from Death City so far down below, waking its citizens up from fitful, nightmare-filled slumbers.

The Witches are here!

It doesn't take long for the defenders to rally: Kid sends out the call to arms and, after admonishing all but the most skilled pairs to stay off the island, instructs those attending Mission 157 to prepare to get on the gondolas which still remain the only way to and from the Bazaar.

The streets are not as packed as they were the past two days, but there is no less commotion. The carnival workers and residents, fleeing from the marauding monsters, clearly have no hand in this deception. In between trying to save their lives, striking down the Black Blood-formed clowns and avoiding the talons of swooping bird familiars, the pairs certainly have their hands full.

At the epicenter of the battle is the yellow-bricked fortune-telling building. Waves of Madness emanate from it with an almost physical force. If you aren't careful, you may run into the black-feathered Witch guarding it…

By the end of the conflict, the island is incapable of supporting its own weight. With the help of volunteers shuttling civilians and fighters alike from the Bazaar to the ground, everyone must race back to the gondolas before the entire rock crashes in the sands.

If he was concerned or scared? Hardly.

Don't be stupid. As the master of this game it's only natural that I have to be informed about everything that happens within it.

He kept walking ahead, slowing down his steps as they moved slowly but steadily further away from the heat of the fighting. There was still no sign of live - not even of people who had left in panic. It was obvious that there had no battle happened in this place. Bakura licked his lips.

Many or only a few strong ones. What would it be?

I told you that I am looking for a Weapon who's fit to fight the gods. If you can't even withstand this little miasma then you're clearly not as strong as you claim to be.

HA! That's what...I thought.

Winters was not displeased with this answer. If he found out this asshole had a conscience then he would be shocked as hell over it and would probably walk off. The longer he was here, the more he realized how stupid it was to depend on anybody for emotional support. It always sounded like bullshit anyways.

He scoffed though when he spoke of strength. Who was the one that ended up partnered with somebody that was too much of a wuss and got him injured? If it was Winters, he wouldn't bother accepting going with somebody that would be stupid enough to get the other hurt...even if right now he felt more and more like he wanted to split this guy's skull.

Though it was definitely the madness getting to him, he wasn't sure how much of any of that was his actual feelings at the moment.

It isn't...about strength, dipshit. When you've...killed people the way I...did...this kind of shit...gets to you. You can't...take it? You agreed to partner...with me here, pal.

Me? He let out a low chuckle that turned into a deeply pleased maniacal laugh. I'm feeling just like home here!

Winters was starting to remind him more and more of Malik with his reactions . First big talk and then, when things got really serious, pitifully losing himself to his emotions. His lips curled into a cruel sneer as he briefly entertained the thought of asking if his current Weapon had an evil psycho living in his head as well.

It was unlikely that that was the case. Much more likely they just shared the same kind of brainless killing drive that the thief had never been able to relate to fully, even if most would have considered him a psychopathic killer in his lifetime and beyond as well.

Licking his lips, he stopped in the middle of a small crossroad. Here.

"Are you trying to pick a fight with me?"

I'm not trying to...I could kick...your ass up and down this place if I wanted to!

And Winters didn't give a shit whether or not this guy wanted it. He was starting it with that bullshit response about the miasma. It wasn't like he could not tell the asshole himself if he needed to watch his ass. Why would he bother doing that when he should be able to handle that? He growled slightly, his emotions wavering and that drive to kill coming to the surface more and more. He wanted to...no....he needed to kill this guy, so he could shut that mouth of his for good.

What an arrogant piece of work! The former General wondered if he shouldn't have thought this shit through before telling the guy they were partnering up at that training thing. Maybe he was losing his ability to be able to read people enough to know when he should just let them walk by. He had the attitude though to be able to wield him. It was just that his attitude right now was a piece of work.

So what if I...was anyways? I could change...back and kill you...right now!
