Yes, Mushu did look out for him, even more so than anyone else would think: as the larger dragon, he had the greater share of the food so as to at last keep on going throughout the day, and Mushu did cook a mean Wonton soup.

It was not as if it were an extravagantly large dwelling, but it did serve its purpose if it could fit him despite his size. Some ducking and tucking of wings at times through the doors, yes, but all in all it was still comfortable.
The only free bedroom was the one that was opposite the kitchen, while he had been using the room with the view ever since he moved into the apartment. It made sense due to his size, and the other one had more storage space fit for a human.
