Description: SEES has been without leadership for a while, so it's time to talk about that and other things. Over dinner.

The SEES HQ is a humble, unadorned office in the process of renovation. There is scaffolding on the outside (really a continuation of the arcade expansion happening next door) and buckets of paint on the floor inside, stored until needed.

The arrangement of desks in the middle and chairs along the outside give it an almost conference room feeling, except that each seat has a dinner setting of plate and utensils (and chopsticks), and the middle of the table is covered in Kanji's generous dinner spread.

We shouldn't be using them to speak of important things. The others should understand that, too. [she is not going to be the one suggesting them that]

[Which he's been thinking about, actually.] And why I am renovating the office. Maybe Saya-chan can help with that...

[she fears for her privacy, really. She isn't paranoid to the point of thinking they have bugged the rooms to listen to them even when they are not using the communicator, but once crossed her mind it would be a very easy way to keep everyone in check.

It's not that she has another agenda besides surviving, but it worries her]

Interior designer? How am I good with that?

You're really intelligent, Saya-chan. If there is someone who can figure out how to make this place difficult to eavesdrop on, it's you.

[He's not worried about Shibusen, and he's not as paranoid as Lili to start dumping communicators in lead boxes, but he's been here for more than a couple of Guests gone bad, and with the Watch gone, those are the people he's improving their defences against.]

[that's true. She did it when she was at her place.] Very well, I can help with that.

Also the bunker. I've been gathering some information on that to aid with what I already knew. [why Saya knows military stuff? Who the heck knows; she just has a lot of information about a lot of things no one would often care for]

Before that. Minato-san, have you ever accessed the restricted area of the library?

I've never had a reason to go... [To the library at all. There are no social links in there...]

[he rolls her eyes] If an area is restricted, what does that mean? [Saya doesn't want to spell it out for him, she is sure he knows what it means.

As she spoke the girl looked around the room. Soundproofing this might not be that hard.]

[He'll test it using Naoto's abilities, so it might be a little harder than normal.]

That the books are expensive and hard to replace.

Or maybe they just have a lot of information we are not supposed to see. [really, Minato. REALLY.]

[She approaches the door after, searching for air leaks.]

Or maybe they have Excalibur's legend written on them.

[I actually wrote a plot for SC once that made Excalibur replace all the books in the restricted section for his legend...]

I do. But we can't just waltz in. [she wishes!] I'd like your help, if possible. I need to plan how to get inside first, though --

[She finishes checking the room] Okay, low budget sound-proofing.

For the windows you can use drywall - a sheet of sheetrock - cut out to fit into the frame of the window; put handles on it to be easier to put it or take it out

For the door, you buy a weatherstripping kit and install the foam strips all the way around the door, the way it makes compression fit and seals everything when the door closes. [as she speaks, she points to the edges if the door, and then at the bottom] On the floor, use two wipers: metal strips with a felt wiper attached to the bottom. You put one on one side of the door and the other on the other side of the door, both snug up against the floor, so you've got a double wiper that you drag across the floor.

[and then she looks at the walls] As for the walls, a cheap solution is to hang carpet on them. For something more professional, you can always use expanding foam insulation: drill a small hole in the wall and fill it with the foam.

We can work on a plan once we visit the library...

[He looks appraisingly around the room, imagining it with bear furs hung on the walls... and a fireplace... and barbarians... Somehow it doesn't feel right.]

Will all of that work against weapon or meister abilities and magic?

[no. minato, no.

I doubt that. This works for normal people. Unless there is a magical compound that we can add to the foam, this will only keep away people without those abilities or who don't really use them.

Or we can get someone who has the ability to stop eavesdropping. [if there is such ability]

Maybe if I combine my power with Naoto's... But then we won't have a way of testing it...

Do you think there is a chance of Shibusen soundproofing their own facility against those abilities? [because if Shibusen can... then, there is a way they might use. They just need to find out.]

If they're worried about Witches... I'm sure they've done some research. [Especially for the bases outside of Death City. The ones more on the front lines.]

It's more the other Guests we have to worry about...

Then we just need to find out how they soundproofed theirs and do the same to ours.

Maybe we can check at the Detective Agency. If they've soundproofed an area recently, it'll be the monitor room for all the cameras...

Hm, or that. Do you have a good connection with any of them from the agency?

Naoto-san and Kuzunoha-san are from the Agency. While they are not the same, different versions of those two founded the Agency long ago...

It doesn't hurt to ask, anyway. [a small nod. Aka, you ask because Saya won't.]
