"It may depend on the time period," Kid mused. "Though I doubt it would be too different if you are from a similar time frame as this world."

[tauborn]

He bobbed his head and grinned. "The time period seems pretty similar. According to the calendar, I'm from two years in the future."

That's right, Kid. Takuto is from the future. Which seemed pretty cool to Takuto at least.

Well it was a bit interesting. Of course his future was different from Takuto's for obvious reasons, but he was always curious about parallel worlds.

"Are there any particular differences between this version and yours? Other than the obvious of course." That is, the souls, weapons, witches, kishin—things that definitely only seemed to exist here.

[tauborn]

"And the obvious would be witches and madness and people who turn into weapons, right?" He splashed Kid with some water, laughing. It all seemed so weird sometimes when he really thought about comparing this world to his own.

"We don't travel through mirrors, either. Magic is the sort of thing that doesn't exist for a lot of people, and for the rest of us it comes in very different forms."

"Hey—!" He raised an arm to shield himself from the splash.

He was not too surprised to hear about the differences, but the last part piqued his interest. "Different forms?"

[tauborn]

Takuto shrugged and dropped into the water deep enough for it to come just past his shoulders. "I mean, I knew a girl who some people called a witch--nothing like any kinds of witches here--and she taught me a magic spell once. She said the trick was believing it would work." He laughed, then, because it had been such a weird chant that anyone repeating it usually felt incredibly silly. It took a lot of belief to chant with a face straight enough for the spell to work.

"Anyway, there were some people who had certain abilities--I don't know if you'd call them magical or not, but some of the abilities were pretty unusual."

"Could you give an example?"

[tauborn]

"Uh, well... my friend, for example, he could do this thing everyone called the King's Pillar." Takuto stood up tall again, and put one hand into the air, striking the pose Sugata always did whenever he was threatening to use the power.

"And then, a huge beam of blue light would come down and pretty much blow everything up within 15 or 20 meters or so of him!" He threw his hand into the water, and then splashed a bit, trying to give Kid an impression of the intensity of it all, and utterly failing.

And then he shrugged. "But that's kind of an extreme example. Someone else had the power to possess people, and someone else could charm people with a kiss."

The first example was certainly...interesting. The other two, however, only earned a slight arch of the brow.

"Hm...I see. I suppose it could be either magic or an ability, particularly your friend's King's Pillar," Kid mused.

[tauborn]

"Sometimes I think abilities and magic are the same thing, you know?" He looked quite serious for a conversation taking place in a pool, but instead of frowning like a normal person, his smile grows deeper as his tone gets more serious. "I mean, it can be magical when a person has the ability to make someone else smile, right?"

It's cheesy, but he really, truly means it.

Kid only looked at him for a moment before giving him an idle splash.

"I suppose in some ways it could be."

It was not something that he could do he knew, but one could not help but admire those who could.

"And I'm sure you have the talent for that."

If his soul was any indicator at least.
