Description: Sheena's recovering from her Madness-induced nightmare--both physically and emotionally. Anyone care to visit?

She was supposed to be recovering, but the nightmares and dreams brought on by the Madness wouldn't let her. She had been initially helped at the field trip site, but that hadn't lasted long--thanks to her own deep-seated fears over her memories. Not even the sedatives given her had been able to keep everything at bay. She had woken up several times during the night, frantically searching the room for any trace of those eyes that seemed to be wherever she looked. Eventually, the drugs and exhaustion had taken their toll, and she had fallen into a somewhat restless sleep.

This time, when she awoke, sunlight was streaming into the room, keeping the images away. Now, in the clear light of day, she was able to deal with what happened, and wondered if she was going to be able to handle things here.

There was a quiet knock on the door, Bakura's smiling face peeking in with a small wave. "Hey. Want some company?"

That works.

Sheena looked up slowly, a small smile crossing her face when she saw who her visitor was. Waving him in with her uninjured hand, she said, "Hey yourself. Come on in. I can always use company."

[shiromadoushi]

"I brought you some anpan, I know sometimes hospital food isn't really the best," Bakura smiled as he stepped into the room, a pastry box in hand.

"Anpan? I didn't think they'd let you bring something like that in here." She was glad he did, though. Sheena had a bit of a sweet tooth. "Yeah, so far, I'm not too happy with the way the food tastes."

She's putting on a calm face, but she wasn't kidding when she said she wanted company. She really didn't want to be alone with her thoughts right now.

"They haven't stopped me yet," Bakura smiled a bit impishly as he set the box down on the side table before carefully lifting the lid. The buns were neatly stacked, looking almost artistic in their presentation and giving off the aroma of having been just freshly baked.

"I think as long as it's not being brought for someone who can only eat specific things, they don't mind. Anything that helps people, you know?"

"Yet? So you've smuggled them in before, huh?" Her own tone was impish as she watched him open the box. As the smell filled the room, her stomach made a very audible noise, making her blush. "Wow. I think that was a polite way of asking for one," she chuckled.

"Which as far as I know, I'm allowed to have." The doctors hadn't told her otherwise, anyway.

"Un!" Bakura nodded. "Every time I come visit someone here," he grinned, picking up a napkin from under the box and carefully setting one of the buns on it before holding it out for her. "Here, they might still be a bit warm inside, so be careful when you bite in."

Sheena couldn't help chuckling, despite the implications of how often he came here. But, that was to be expected considering the situation. Her smile deepening, she reached for the snack with her uninjured hand. "Thaks, Bakura." She took a moment to enjoy the aroma before biting in a little warily. It was still warm, but delightfully so.

"This is good."

He smiles warmly, though a touch sheepish at the praise. "I have a lot of practice with them," he admitted, rubbing the back of his neck. "They were one of the first sweets I learned to make."

"You made this?" she asked, taking another bite. "It's really good. I mean that." Bakura would learn that Sheena was a horrible liar, so her praise was always sincere--even if she had trouble giving compliments.

"You're going to have to teach me this one," she said. "I never got around to learning how."

Bakura nodded happily. "Sure! Cooking's a really fun hobby, especially things like sweets! You get to enjoy making and eating them."

Her smile wasn't as forced as the others this time. "I cook, too. Someone left a cookbook in my room, and I've been learning from that. I've made a few things like cake and pie--mainly chocolate--but I haven't hit the small things yet." Is it any wonder she doesn't miss training with all those sweets she eats?

"I can help with that! Any time you have a cooking question, just ask! Most of the time I know what the answer is!" Bakura offered with a warm smile. "Though I'm still learning with chocolate, since I didn't really many any until I got here."

"Good! Maybe we can cook together sometime. Where do you live?" she asked as she finished the first sweet. "This is really good, Bakura. I think you'll handle chocolate pretty well." She wiped her fingers on the napkin, waiting for the sweet to settle before asking for another one.

Clare had heard about Sheena's injuries after they all came home. Her madness addled state made he... unsuited, to be of any help. She wasn't a threat but her usefulness was curbed by her lack of focus. She wasn't even bothered by Sheena's injuries during the trip, how messed up was that?

Clare had come to check on her friend? Someone Clare hoped she could call friend anyway, but given her state she let the her sleep. Clare taking a seat near the door to work on her notes for her own adventures. Maybe just being there would help, Clare would let that sit with her for now.

Because of her own mental state, Sheena would understand why Clare hadn't helped her before. She had managed to find herself in one of the higher zones, and it was a miracle that she--as well as the person who helped her--had made it out in one piece.

So to speak.

Despite Clare's efforts to let her sleep, Sheena still moved restlessly under the covers. Occasionally soft sounds of discomfort and pain were uttered with each toss and turn of her battered and bruised body. Finally, sleep left her, and she awoke, Clare working in her book the first thing she saw.

"Clare?" she asked her friend sleepily. "What are you doing here?"

"Death City Heights, 3rd floor, apartment C," Bakura smiled. "I'm normally at training and then work during the morning and daytime, but in the evening or weekends, anytime you want to come over, feel free!" he offered happily.

Sheena laughed gently. "I work afternoon and evenings, but maybe we can work something out..." She trailed off, slightly panicked. "Oh no! My job at the Brew! I just asked for yesterday off!" She slapped herself in the head. "I hope they don't think I quit." She wasn't about mention the possibility of dying.

"Maybe you can have the clinic workers call for you? People get hurt here all the time, so I'd think it's almost expected that you'll have to take a few days off for things like this."

She was very tempted to try and wake Sheena up from her nightmares, leaving well enough alone is hard for Clare. Just... she wasn't sure waking would be better for Sheena, who needed her rest. Still, she was a bit happy to hear the ninja.

"I heard what happened and I came to check on you..." Clare slipped her notebook back to her pocket, "I... didn't really think this through, I just thought a friendly face would help?"

"I suppose I could," she admitted. "But you know something, the bartender did give me a strange look when I told her I was just asking for the day off. She might have handled it for me already." She decided to contact them later about it--unless there was already a message about it. She kept forgetting the communicator had that function.

Leaving well enough alone was a good choice for Clare. Sheena was a little bit of a reactionary, and she might have aimed a punch at Clare before realizing what was going on--no matter what she was dreaming about.

Sheena wiped at her eyes and looked around the room. Definitely a hospital room. "What time is it?" she asked, struggling into a more upright position. "And a friendly face is always nice..." Especially after what she saw.

Bakura covered a small laugh. "Sort of expecting you'd need to take more than one day, huh?" he smiled. "I guess it's best to assume that with this sort of thing. That way if you only do need the one, it's a pleasant surprise, ne?"

Gai had heard of her injuries and made sure to drop by. She was part of his zone, after all, and he had a responsibility to her beyond their budding friendship. He came into the room quietly, unsure if she would be awake or asleep, and cleared his throat. "Are you awake? Or wanting visitors? I can come back another time if you wish."

"Yeah, I guess. And go ahead and laugh. I should have asked her then about it." She sighed and shifted into a more comfortable position, wincing a bit at the light pressure she put on her arm. She glanced down and watched it, but no blood could be seen. Good, she didn't re-open the wound.

That would just be her typical luck.

"I doubt I'll need just the one day," she told him. Her job relied on her fighting abilities, and they were a bit diminished at the moment. "I'll probably need several." She leaned back. "Do you think they'll let me take that much time off?"
