Description: Shibusen offers a field trip to acclimate the guests to the Madness wavelength.

It's a perfectly pleasant day for the most part, if one is to look at the sky and maybe the horizon. For the attendees of the fieldtrip, however, things are naturally a lot more grim, if also lot more colorful. There are understandably no civilians in the area -- or any other signs of life apart from the group.

As promised, the location is extensively arranged to cordon off various areas of the place where Madness spikes have been identified. They are all properly labeled, both with text and visuals, and discreet agents kept an eye on all corners of the large field. The mirror by which the guest will come in is set in a corner, with some food provided next to it.

People are free to come and go, though the other end leads to the clinic instead of the Death Room. The rules are simple: venture into a level you think you can handle, and if you can't, someone will help.

In the afternoon, a light rain will come to add some variety to the endless desert. Make sure to take shelter in the open tents provided to protect you from the elements!

... [[Bakura has a very poor poker face and that slight glare would be enough to let his double know that his guess is right.]]

I wanted to know if you were really there.

[[There was a moment's pause before a blurt of questions escaped in a rush]]

Why were you in my apartment? What are you plotting? Why of everyone from back home did it have to be you who came here?!

[He keeps their eye contact for a long moment before he chuckles lowly and abandons his place of looming over Bakura from behind in favor of sauntering over to one of the posts of the tent and leaning against it.]

So many questions, my landlord. [His way of acting leaves no doubt that he isn't going to answer any of them.]

What is the last you remember from 'our' world?

... I'm not answering any of your questions unless you answer mine. [[He wasn't about to give the Voice any advantage!]]

[For a moment his expressions darkens - he doesn't like that attitude at all, host!

But then he smiles again, somehow managing to appear almost friendly.]

Touché. There is a reason why you are the chosen one of the Ring, even when I don't like it that you decide to turn those qualities against me. But oh well. Answer me this question and I will answer you one of yours, a fair deal. Does that sound better?

[[Bakura's not at all trusting that smile. Or the Voice.

He's not sure what qualities the Voice is referring to either, which makes him even more tense.]]

[[There's a moment where he's tempted to lie. The Voice wasn't in his head any more, how would he be able to tell? However... if he could somehow tell...

...then again, what was the last thing he could clearly remember from Domino...? Those moments in what must have been a duel against the other Yuugi? That feeling like he was being torn apart...?]]

Yuugi-kun and everyone coming over after you lost in Battle City....

[Battle City, huh? That had to be either after the game with the pharaoh or the one with Malik's crazy side. Since there were spectators it had to be the first, unless his host was intelligent enough to lie about the details.

None of them were duels that he enjoys remembering, but more important... This confirms what he has heard about people being able to arrive at this place coming from different times. It also helps to make sense of how they can both exist at the same time like this and the potential whereabouts of the Ring. Goddamn it-!

Making a short noise to himself, he pushes himself off from the post and moves to leave.]

H-- Hey! You'd answer my questions if I answered yours!

[[Lying jerk!]]

Right. [He stops, not turning back.] I came to your apartment because I wanted the answer to the question you just answered.

There's no way it could only be that! You keep moving my things and eating my food! I know it's not Ryuzaki-kun, I asked! And he wouldn't lie about something like that!

[He almost rolls his eyes as he turns around and pats his chest demonstratively.]

Use your head. It's your body that I'm using. That means that anything that belongs to it belongs to me.

It does not! [[His fists tense.]] Just because you've stolen my body doesn't mean you get to steal everything else of mine!

It doesn't?

[He cackles at the idea.]

Too bad that you aren't around to keep me from just taking it, isn't it, then?!

[[Bristles, fists clenching.]] I'll find a way to keep you out...

[Aww, landlord, just a little bait and you're already rising so obediently to it. It's almost cute if it weren't so pitiful.

To add insult to injury, he smiles sweetly at his angry 'other self'.]

How scary. I'd like to see that, Bakura Ryou. You and I are connected through the fate and the Sennen items, whether you like it or not. But I have been a thief for way longer than the few measly years that you have spent alive and I am going to be one when not even dust nor memories are left of you and your civilization. To think that you can keep me from what I have set my eyes on is just foolish masochism. Why don't you work together with me instead? I can give you everything you want, landlord.

[[Bakura freezes, eyes widening and body tensing as just for a moment..

No. No there was no way that--]]

There's no way you would ever do that... All you ever do is twist my wishes for your own gain...

Oh? Then what did I gain from helping your friends as you wanted me to during Duelist Kingdom? None of them came to any lasting harm there, did they? Without my help you would have neither been able to rescue the boy nor to solve the riddle of the labyrinth in time.

[[His fists had clenched again at the word 'partners.' Another wish to twist... Even he wasn't so stupid as to think that just because he had quietly wished that his Item had had a spirit more like Yuugi's had that it would turn the Ring's Voice into something else....]]

You got me to put the Ring back on.... You couldn't have done anything if I hadn't...

[[Even if it had saved his friends... at what cost had it been....?]]

I could have forced you to wear it. [His voice was still calm and to anybody not knowing better he appeared almost tranquil.]

What I told you back then was no lie - I am a different person now than what I was after I got freed from the ring for the first time. As much as I dislike admitting it, sometimes one needs a little ..knock to the head.. to regain one's wits after being left locked up on your own for too long.

There's no way I can believe that....

[[Part of him was wavering just a touch. The Voice hadn't had to go after Honda in the castle... hadn't had to go back to look for Yuugi... But there had to have been something for him to gain from it, right?

His right hand moves up to cover his upper arm where his scar lay.]] You're this reason for this, aren't you? And why I can't remember most of Battle City...

[He shrugs as if to say 'then don't'. The seed of doubt has been sowed and that's all he needs for now.]

I am. Malik found us an he wasn't going to play nice, so I took action.

[[blinks, curiosity starting to grow]] Malik...?

[[He remembers that name being yelled when he was trying not to pass out when he'd first woken in that duel...

Never mind how on Earth the Voice thought him bleeding like that would help anything...]]

The crazy guy who wanted to kill the pharaoh and pretty much everyone else who crossed paths with him. I don't expect you to remember him.

[[Granted, the Voice tended to prefer to just steal people souls more than just kill them (not that he was blameless of that either!) but the wanting to kill the other Yuugi-kun was the same...]]

[He snorts.]

Oh please. That was a one-time outlier. [Private issues with the Pharaoh aside, he's usually more picky about his victims than to target bullying teachers and school kids.]
