Description: Naomi and Gai dine out in an effort to get to know each other.


[Naomi takes a moment to stretch before entering the restaurant. It hasn't been long since she woke up, and while she makes sure to get enough sleep (it'd be disastrous for work otherwise) she did wake up slightly earlier than usual today to prepare for this meeting.

Once that's done, she looks around for Gai, gauging the crowd at Oodle Noodle as she does - she's familiar with the place after having eaten there a few times, especially after Brock disappeared, so it's not hard to glance around and compare the current crowd to her past experiences. Business seems a little slow today, which suits her fine. Now, the next step is to find Gai...]

It's possible. Although I suppose I'd have to adjust to the weapon as well, in that case.

[She shakes her head.]

Of course, that would take time and training as well. I really should step up the search for more people.

Everything here is an adjustment. You have already done well. I am certain you will continue to do so!

[The food arrives and Gai leans back in his seat so as to be out of the way as it's set in front of them.]

More people? To help you teach?

[Naomi waits until the food's set out to speak again, although she doesn't touch hers at first.]

Yes, among other things. The clinic's lost more than one good worker lately, so finding more staff would be a great help - especially anybody with significant experience.

[She sighs and picks up her chopsticks, to start in on her meal.]

[Gai nods after she speaks.]

I cannot help with the clinic, because I do not really seek out medical people, but I can try to help with Morning Training! I can also keep an eye out in the Kishin Chamber but it is not easy to tell who is a medical person and who is not.

I'll be watching out when newcomers arrive myself. With any luck those with experience will be inclined to seek work at the clinic on their own - that was how I came to work there when I arrived. Someone to cover at morning training would be helpful - if even just a few more volunteers.

[spandexisyouth]

We can hope! And it has been about the right amount of time for Shibusen to be calling us to the chamber again to speak with new arrivals. They should not be too far away! Perhaps we will get a few people to help you out. And perhaps one of these times Watson will return.

I certainly hope so. Some new blood - or old blood, at that - could make quite the difference.

[spandexisyouth]

[Gai nods.] It is strange, but I think that sometimes this place needs the new people as much as we do.

[He begins digging into his food, thinking.]

We will find people for you. I am certain of it. Perhaps some have not yet discovered their Meister ability is healing, too!

[deadshallspeak]

I'm a meister myself, actually, though the same principle applies. It is possible.

[She sips at her broth, thinking as she does.]

Patience wouldn't do any harm either. I was lucky finding Brock so soon the first time.

[spandexisyouth]

Patience is often good.

[He gives her a wry smile.]

I am not very good at patience, though. But perhaps with the first-aid classes being attended so often, there will not be so much need for medics. Your job could get easier!

That would be nice, wouldn't it? Generating more interest wouldn't be a bad thing, either.

[Gai reaches over and gives her shoulder a squeeze.]

We will find a way, Naomi. You will not be alone.

[deadshallspeak]

[Naomi's...not really used to this kind of treatment, except from her recently adopted daughter, so she's not quite sure how to react and she hesitates a moment before answering.]

You are welcome.

[He pulls his hand back and focuses on the food again for a few minutes.]

I like to help out! Especially my friends.

[Naomi relaxes slightly once he's pulled back - while she doesn't dislike contact it's another thing she's only accustomed to with Alyssa. She allows herself a second to marvel at the kinds of people she meets here; it really can be quite interesting.]

Friends, hm? How considerate.

[spandexisyouth]

[He smiles.]

I would like to think so. And we can become better friends as time goes by!

[Provided he didn't land in the clinic.]

You make it sound so simple. I've been told I'm not the easiest to get along with.

[There's no self-pity in her voice; it's more matter-of-fact statement and maybe a hint of pride given that she intentionally terrorizes her assistant. It's good for keeping his mouth shut about the right subjects.]

[Gai smirks faintly.]

I think that so long as I am never injured we will get along fine!

[deadshallspeak]

All the time we're here? That sounds like quite the challenge.

[spandexisyouth]

...Perhaps I should say so long as I am not confined to the clinic.

[deadshallspeak]

I'll have to keep that in mind, then.

[spandexisyouth]

[He tilts his head. Does that mean what he thinks it does?]

...Good! I shall not be stuck and our friendship shall continue to flourish!

[deadshallspeak]

I certainly hope so. It would be better if you stayed out altogether, although that's unfortunately realistic.

[Still not sure what to say about the friendship thing. She's only had experience with so many.]

I prefer to be uninjured or healthy! But as I fight often that is not always possible.
