He had been doing everything that he could to ignore the topics and stay as far away from them as possible. Sephiroth knew what returning to such things would dredge up, and he didn't want to lose what he had gained to talk such things through.

Cloud's words didn't comfort him entirely, and he felt a fear spark up within that the blonde would fall back into the hatred he'd once felt upon remembrance of those memories. Sephiroth did what he could to push down those feelings though, and instead focused his thoughts on the words his partner spoke.

Closing his eyes, he kept himself distracted by the warmth pressed up against him as he murmured, "Very well."

It was still easy to sense Sephiroth's fear for what the past might dredge up between them. He was somewhat worried about it as well, but he knew that they would never be able to see if things would work out in the long run if they didn't deal with such matters. Things would always been potentially rocky between them until they had made an effort to mend old bridges just for peace of mind.

He dug his fingers into the thick silver hair, bowing his head to nestle his nose against Sephiroth's head as he offered comfort of his own. He wouldn't push the issue, aware that doing so would only bring up more fear in his partner. No, there had already been too much adventure today.

"Soon, but for now, you have to keep me warm before we get rescued. I don't want to be too cold for when they have to look at my arm."

[personal profile] pure_lineage 2012-06-07 01:08 pm (UTC)(link)
He didn't open his eyes, even if he felt Cloud's grip tighten. Sephiroth feared what may come from such discussions, and wondered if his lack of reasoning would eventually drive his partner away. Cloud could sprout all that he desired right now, but would that change once he discovered that there would never be an answer that would ever satisfy him?

"You do not ever have to concern yourself over such a thing," Sephiroth muttered quietly as his face remained pressed up against Cloud's throat.

Clearly, the topic of the past or at least the prospect of having to face it with him had upset his partner. He felt bad for that, but he also knew that they would be better and braver men for it. He supposed it wasn't the best time to bring up the subject after he had almost been killed. Perhaps he had done it selfishly too.

He nestled in close to Sephiroth, both protective of the man and needing warmth from him. "I know, but I'm still cold," he murmured, though he had warmed considerably.

Sephiroth opened his eyes at the mention of his partner still being cold. Reaching over for his strained wing, he pulled the appendage more tightly around his partner. He couldn't allow for Cloud's body temperature to drop, and his concern for his partner detracted away from the pain he felt from the movement.

"They'll be here soon," he murmured softly between them.

[personal profile] de_faulty_hero 2012-06-07 02:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Even from his position, he could tell Sephiroth's concern. He shifted in closer to his partner, settling into the ex-General's lap and buckered down for the long wait for retrieval. No doubt it would take a few hours to get everyone out, and then he knew that he would be forced to go to the clinic.

"I know, but I don't care because I have you," he murmured with a careless shrug of his shoulders. "We'll wait as long as we have to."

[personal profile] pure_lineage 2012-06-07 02:54 pm (UTC)(link)
The continuous strain on his wing from the pull proved to be a nice distraction from their previous conversation. It was obvious that he was on borrowed time, but with their conversation looming over head, that feeling only seemed to become more of a reality.

"I cannot heal your injury," Sephiroth muttered softly in return. His role in life had never been to save lives, but to take them after all.

[personal profile] de_faulty_hero 2012-06-07 02:57 pm (UTC)(link)
He stayed close, aware of the tension that he had brought up between them. It was better this way instead of dropping the subject on his partner without notice. He wanted Sephiroth to think about it, but he didn't want it to rule his partner's life. Still, they'd talk about it eventually, and he would no doubt have to lead the way.

"Ah well... we can do a splint job and leave it for a little while, yeah?" In that way, there was no need to go to the clinic.

[personal profile] pure_lineage 2012-06-07 03:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Sephiroth knew that he should have splintered the injury after discovering it, but the near-loss of his partner had caused him to lose focus on everything else. It had been impossible to focus on his duties, and he couldn't help but feel as if he had failed Cloud and himself in that regard. Granted, it was probably more linked to the vulnerable moment, but he wasn't willing to let himself off that easily.

"I should go and locate something to splint it with," he murmured while lightly indicating for Cloud to shift himself off.

[personal profile] de_faulty_hero 2012-06-07 03:11 pm (UTC)(link)
The indication was made, but Cloud made no move to shift away. Quite the opposite, he pressed himself closer, held on tighter and even moved his damaged arm closer to them. A shiver of pain ran up the length of his arm and across his shoulders, but he was settled in and refusing to move.

"When we get back," he murmured in reply. "Let them come and rescue us, and then we can go to the apartment and splint it there." Thus avoiding the clinic too.

[personal profile] pure_lineage 2012-06-07 03:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Cloud didn't seemed to be interested in moving from what he could see, and the jolt of pain that ran through the younger male's body prevented him from forcing the issue. His partner was in enough pain as it was already that he didn't need more. Besides, some selfish part of him didn't want to be away from Cloud even for a moment.

"If you're sure..." Sephiroth muttered before shaking his head. "You'll need to get your arm inspected."

[personal profile] de_faulty_hero 2012-06-07 03:22 pm (UTC)(link)
He was pleased that Sephiroth didn't force the issue of him moving, which caused him to relax after awhile and lean heavily against the ex-General's body. After he had nearly died and Sephiroth had saved him, he wasn't willing to be too far away. He'd wait for rescue before moving again unless Sephiroth made it clear that him sitting like this made his partner uncomfortable.

"You can inspect it when we get back," he murmured softly. "The clinic is for sick people."

[personal profile] pure_lineage 2012-06-07 03:28 pm (UTC)(link)
"I am no doctor, Cloud," Sephiroth reminded him even if they were both aware of that fact. Pressing his lips to the front of his partner's throat, the arm he had around Cloud's waist tightened subtly as the blonde spoke of the clinic.

He loathed anything to do with such establishments, but he was aware of his own limitations. "I would prefer for your arm to heal properly. There is only so much that I can do, and I do not wish for you to lose any mobility in your arm."

[personal profile] de_faulty_hero 2012-06-08 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
Well... Sephiroth had patched him up before, even if he saw the wisdom in his partner's words. He just... didn't want to go to that horrid place with the gloves, especially now that Watson was gone. He had stayed relatively injury free since then and Sephiroth had been stitched up previously by his hand.

"I think... you can do a good job," he murmured softly, aware that they both had limitations. He probably should have splinted the arm long ago, but he wasn't willing to move with the wing around him. "I trust you to do it."

[personal profile] pure_lineage 2012-06-08 07:43 am (UTC)(link)
He could understand why Cloud wouldn't want to be anywhere near the clinic, Sephiroth knew that without material, there was little that he could do to aid his partner. Cloud simply didn't have the same concentration of JENOVA cells within his body like he did, and any incorrect healing could cause permanent damage.

"Gashes I can stitch," Sephiroth began as he kept Cloud in close to him. "Broken bones I cannot... not without the full use of my control over my cells."

[personal profile] de_faulty_hero 2012-06-08 02:06 pm (UTC)(link)
He glanced to the swollen and bruising appendage which he hoped was only sprained but knew was broken. There weren't any bone protruding through the skin, so it couldn't be that bad of a break. He didn't know what they did with breaks without materia. Was it one of those slings or something? No matter what, it didn't change his perception of going to the clinic any.

"And you don't have full control of them," he murmured, nestling his face back into Sephiroth's silver hair. "Does that mean you're going to make me go?"

[personal profile] pure_lineage 2012-06-08 02:22 pm (UTC)(link)
No he didn't, which was why he could do nothing for his Meister. He could barely do anything for himself, but that aspect didn't appear as daunting and difficult to accept than his inability to protect the blonde.

"No... I don't," he softly admitted before closing his eyes at the feel of Cloud's face pressing more up against him. "If you truly do not wish to go, then I will not force you."

[personal profile] de_faulty_hero 2012-06-08 02:33 pm (UTC)(link)
While Sephiroth didn't have full control over the cells that they shared, that was fine by him. He knew that things would have been much different between them if his partner had. Heck, they probably wouldn't be partners if Sephiroth had control of them. Their shared weaknesses had brought them together, so he didn't mind the idea that Sephiroth couldn't entirely help him out.

"I know," he murmured, and he did. Still, the idea that he could lose mobility in his arm was unfortunately unacceptable. It meant that he would have tot go if he wanted to be healed up and still be the best partner for Sephiroth. "I guess I'll go. Maybe it will be a quick thing, and then I'll be as good as new."

[personal profile] pure_lineage 2012-06-08 02:37 pm (UTC)(link)
The last thing he would attempt to do would be to guilt Cloud into anything, but that was what he felt as though he'd done right in this moment. It was just within his mind, he knew, but the feeling lingered with the ex-General as Cloud murmured his answer.

"If you are certain," Sephiroth muttered softly while tracing his fingers along his partner's body. "Either way, you would do best to rest until they arrive."

[personal profile] de_faulty_hero 2012-06-08 02:45 pm (UTC)(link)
He shivered at the slide of Sephiroth's fingers and cuddled in closer, drawing in more warmth as he began to dry off from his time in the water. The wing helped to keep the heat drawn in between them, and it was nice to start to feel warm again. So much for a nice swim or snow angels. Sephiroth would never let him live it down if he caught a cold or anything.

"Only if you'll rest with me," he murmured, snuggling against the ex-General's chest and settling his cheek on the top of Sephiroth's head. "I guess... now all we can do is wait."

[personal profile] pure_lineage 2012-06-08 02:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Sephiroth had no intention on going anywhere. No person, kishin egg, or witch could ever force him to abandon his partner, and he would rain down hell on anyone who tried. The fear of losing Cloud was slowly starting to ebb away, but that didn't relax him enough to release any part of his hold around his partner.

"I will always remain here," he quietly muttered before nodding his head subtly at Cloud's observation. "They will be here soon enough." Then he wouldn't have to worry about his partner's health once they returned to Death City.

[personal profile] de_faulty_hero 2012-06-08 03:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Cloud began to relax as much as he was able with pain in his arm, but he knew that Sephiroth was something akin to a protective chocobo mother who would stomp anything that came too close. He considered himself safe and now he was warming, which allowed him to rest against the firmness of Sephiroth's chest. He closed his eyes even if he knew he would never be able to sleep.

Nodding in response, he sighed. "I know you will. My life wouldn't be complete without you fretting after me," he teased lightly. Now all they had to do was wait for help.

[personal profile] pure_lineage 2012-06-08 03:15 pm (UTC)(link)
The warm breath of Cloud's sigh brushed over his skin, but it was the words that followed that truly caught his attention. It didn't matter that they were spoken of in a teasing manner, as the ex-General took the words seriously. Did Cloud honestly think such a thing?

Shifting his face in more towards Cloud, his lips pressed tenderly against his partner's skin. He didn't say anything, didn't trust himself to, but the yearning he felt for such a statement to be right was unmistakable.
